Another sample sipdown! Thank you Ysaurella!
The St. Louis cardinals won, 10 – 1, completing a 4 game sweep of the Brewers.
This was my celebration tea, & victory is sweet! This lovely tea combines a blend of black teas with strawberries, rhubarb, & florals. It was a very nice cup, & Tony enjoyed it too!

Thank you JustJames for sending me a sample of this tea!

I really love rhubarb and strawberries too :)

Though this was obviously a black base, I steeped it a little on the cooler side just to be safe. The flavoring is still outstanding. Tart rhubarb and sweet strawberry, YUM! Mild nondescript black base. I’d definitely drink this again and I bet it’d be fab iced as well as hot.

This is a very nice strawberry flavoured black tea. Not sure what else to say about it, the rhubarb I am not familiar with enough to be able to spot it with certainty, but any background flavour melds very well with this wild strawberry flavour.

It is a little bit thin for my taste and for some reason, despite being flavoured it could not stand up to my tap water. But in all, very nice.

From a swap with sil, thank you so much!

Thank you Doulton for allowing me to sample this tea!

This is smooth, rich, fruity, sweet-tart and delicious. It isn’t my favorite Dammann Freres tea that I’ve tried, and that is actually kind of weird for me to declare, because, it seems that with every Dammann Freres tea that I do try, I have a “new” favorite.

That doesn’t mean I dislike this, I am enjoying it very much. YUM!

Yesterday morning I woke up at quarter to three, courtesy of jetlag. I decided then to indulge in a nice teapot, while reading, before getting ready for the office, to make up for that way too early awakening. I picked up Jardin Bleu’s sample that Ysaurella had sent me, which kept calling my name but which I wanted to keep for a special day. Here it is.
The tea looks quite nice with little yellow and blue petals mixed with the tea leaves and also smells good dry.
Once brewed, the color is golden honey; the smell very pleasant.
The taste is very mellow, almost tart at first, very fruity, and at the same time there’s a bit of tanginess, a little something that makes it not overly sweet. The strawberry flavor is quite noticeable, but is however not domineering. I honestly did not recognize rhubarb, but I haven’t eaten any over the last 2 years and that probably makes it more difficult.
Overall it’s a very delicate brew, very easy to drink, and which I did not tire of. I could have brewed a second tea-pot right away, had I still been thirsty. While drinking it, I really had the feeling, blue was the perfect color to embody this tea: neither navy, nor baby blue, but sapphire blue, which is IMO neither cold nor warm, and very relaxing.
I’ve seen description of this tea as a morning tea. IMO, it’s much more an afternoon one.
I really look forward to my second and last brew of the sample and will most probably buy it sometime soon (after having emptied a bit my overfilled cupboard though).

a cousin of this one is IMO Thé du Hammam Black leaf from Palais des thés, but smoother, on a keemun basis

So I was stuck at JFK airport for several hours on the day after Christmas, in the Jetblue terminal. Even though it was after 10pm, there were several thousand people in the terminal with various flight delays and all the bars and restaurants stayed open past midnight. In our gate area was a sit down bar and an espresso bar with Illy coffe products. They had tea also, of course, and I had not had the brand of tea they offered. They had a choice of Earl Grey, chai, a few others, but the one I had definitely never had was described to me by the young barista as “strawberry tea.”

Okay, sure, I thought. I’m stuck here for another hour. I’m a little chilly. Worst comes to worst I’ll put sugar and milk in it and think of it as a tea flavored strawberry shake.

Turns out it was perfectly yummy just as tea. The strawberry sweetness was quite pronounced, and it normally would have been “too fruity” for me, but for a comforting hot drink in a challenging environment, it was very pleasant. I’ll have it again.

I adore this tea. In general I tend not to like highly scented, flavored, or floral teas and prefer the pure stuff. But this very scented and flavored tea is almost addictive to me: it tastes like Provence in a bottle or liquid Provence. It’s intoxicating. However, I gave some of this to a friend and she hated it. So I think it’s the kind of thing one is likely to love and hate. If you like Monet you will probably like this tea.

It is a gift from my friend Véronique. She asked for a tea who was like me. After having described me (I don’t know in which terms exactly), she went out of the tea boutique with Jardin Bleu. I loved it from the first smell opening the box. It is always the same pleasure drinking it, iced or hot. It is a candy, with no need of sugar. Perfect for summertime.
