This tasting note for Dammann Freres’ advent calendar day 8 has been sitting in my drafts for months but I never posted it. This blend is delicious! It tastes like wild strawberry jam, or a high quality strawberry gummy. I am getting tired of the Dammann Freres advent having so many black teas, but it’s a good base here since it seems to have a caramel or brown sugar aspect to it. I made the first steep hot and the second as an overnight cold steep. Both were fantastic.

AJRimmer

Ha I have 30+ notes in my drafts that I’m gradually editing and will eventually post…I should probably do that :P

ashmanra

I agree with you – this tea is so delicious!

Dammann Frères Advent Calendar 2022 – Day 8

I love strawberry rhubarb am glad this was selected for the advent (but, it also reminded me that I forgot to order “Mélange Vénitien” again; it’s also supposedly rhubarb). There’s a good balance between the two red fruits – although, maybe slightly more sweet strawberry. Tartness is at a minimal and it veers into jam territory.

This is one of those times I wish DF used “loose-leaf in small tins” rather than sachets – because I’d love to try cold brewing this tea. I imagine it would be delicious!

I loved this blend, at least the amount I was able to drink… Buddy (my puppy) is now on the naughty list again this year because while I was grabbing a book in the other room he decided to climb onto the dining room table and drink the tea out of my mug and when I scolded him he knocked it over with his paw so I was only about to get a sip or two in. From what I tasted, this was a delightful, desserty strawberry-rhubarb blend with a hint of cream that I will definitely be grabbing more of. Another hit from the Dammann Freres Advent Calendar.

Flavors: Cake, Cream, Raspberry, Rhubarb, Strawberry, Sugar, Sweet

So this tea is puppy approved?

thereadersteacup

Yes! A 10/10 from Buddy

tea-sipper

I just picture Buddy giving you a look and intentionally tapping the tea over with a nudge of a paw during the scolding but that probably isn’t what happened. :D

thereadersteacup

Oh no… it was intentional, he does things out of spite if you correct him.

I made it a point to delay enjoying my second sample bag of Jardin Bleu from Lexie Aleah until I had time to sip it slowly and enjoy it fully. This time, I added milk, which toned down the strawberry a little and made the slightly sharper rhubarb stand out. Fruity goodness without unpleasant tartness makes me happy. Cup’s been empty for 20 minutes and I’m still smiling at it.

ashmanra

Youngest gave me this one for my birthday about six years ago, maybe seven. It was delicious.

Evol Ving Ness

Lovely image of you smiling at the empty cup. Truly delightful.

gmathis

(Normally, I don’t ponder empty cups that long, but I had a snoozing cat on my lap, and I was soaking in a sunshine puddle watching the leaves fall.)

Evol Ving Ness

Even more perfect.

Really liked this one. And with milk, I believe it can be even better.

I had this tea for the first time at the Windsor Court Hotel in New Orleans. I loved it! I don’t like fruit teas, but I do enjoy black that include some fruits. It just feels tender, a tad sweet, and deliciously smoothed. One of my favorites. I drink it black

April Sipdown Alphabet Challenge: “J” Tea

So I don’t have an “I” tea for some reason so on to “J”. I added a splash of soymilk to this cup but think I prefer it without. It actually was really good with a bit of milk very rhubarb heavy and creamy tasting. Maybe I just prefer my rhubarb teas without cream? I don’t know. I’m glad I snagged this off of amazon fresh when I got the chance because I don’t think it’s on there anymore. I’m gonna have to try this one iced at some point this spring or summer. I think it would be really nice.

Blue garden.
Jardin bleu.
But why when strawberry tea?

Yep, there are blue notes in black tea sea in sachet.
Strongly aromatic. Rhubarb mostly. Wild strawberries too. Aromas are great.

This is so strawberry in taste. I not biting one, right? Strawberries with cream. That’s it. Little rhubarb tartness. Great morning tea.

Today, I drank “Jardin Bleu” from Dammann Frères. It’s a black tea with rhubarb and strawberry and wild strawberry aromas. It’s a good tea but a little acidic for me. I taste the strawberries but only it after that. It’s creamy and wow! I want more strawberries! I will try again as an iced tea.

Hmm I like this one, but I’m definitely not picking up on the subtleties other reviewers are. To me, it tastes like a mild black. Not bitter. I can tell that it’s supposed to be flavored like something, but I can’t tell what the something is. Maybe mildly fruity. Thanks to Cameron B for this one.

Sipdown.
I liked this one. Flavors are well done, not too overpowering. I wouldn’t mind getting this again.
