From Cuppa Geek

Baked Apple Pie is a fun take on an herbal tea. Chamomile, apple pieces and to really elevate the tea- a dash of rum flavoring! A delicious tea to enjoy on a fall crisp evening or really any evening!

This is better with a shorter steep time since the hibiscus can lead to it being a little tart. The main flavor is apple with a tiny bit of spice. Actually, it sort of tastes like homemade spiced apple sauce. I don’t get any rum. It’s not bad, but not exciting (think Celestial Seasonings). The name sounded so good, but it didn’t turn out to be my sort of thing.

Homemade apple sauce, exactly :)

A nicely tangy apple flavored chamomile blend. Tang’s from the apple pieces though. There’s no hibiscus and I’m unsure about honeybush or cinnamon. So I just got out of bed to check the steeper basket and it is indeed only apple pieces and big, soggy chamomile flowers. I even took one teaspoon from the bottom of the bag and one from the top. I’m not complaining, though. The tea went very well with a couple of too sweet Hostess carrot cake donettes. And since I poked through the steeper basket, I also nibbled on some apple chunks.

Flavors: Apple, Chamomile, Tangy

Tea you can eat is always a plus.

Haha, yeah. The marshmallows in CuppaGeek’s Pretty in Pink went missing today as I was preparing a pitcher of cold brew :E

I’d say “this is one of my favorite CG varieties,” but I think that’s what I say about all of them. Haven’t had a klunker yet!

Not a big chamomile fan here but I think she does chamomile blends very well. Spiced Fall Evenings will hopefully be back in my cupboard this fall.

Last night’s cup was tart. A hibiscus petal must’ve made it in.

Cuppageek Advent Day 20

Yes, I am still a day behind getting these notes up, but I hope to catch up tonight!

When I saw what my random draw had produced yesterday, I set it aside to enjoy in the evening with my husband, because this is one I already own and one I know he enjoys.

My husband usually drinks this outside in the rocker in the dark, so when he poured it, he said, “It’s pink!” Yes, my big bearded 6’4” husband has a weakness for pink food and drink. Pink iced shortbread cookies, pink iced doughnuts or cupcakes, pink lemonade…he can not resist. He already liked this tea but doubly so now that he sees it brews up pale pink.

It is apple-y and chamomile, fresh and light. I think it would be equally good cold though I have only had it hot, but I do love cold chamomile in summer and I think this would be a delicious sweet tea.i am so glad it is not cinnamon heavy, just apple pie spiced.

Another good one!

Mr.ashmanra sounds like such a dear heart!

gmathis

I like it so much, I don’t think my pouch will last until iced tea weather to try it!

Dustin

That is a pretty adorable trait!

White Antlers: he really is a dear heart! He is so gifted. He can draw, which is where daughter Youngest gets it because I can’t do a stick man. He can build or repair ANYTHING. In the past couple of decades of marriage, I don’t know if he has ever not said “thank you, sweetie, that was very good” for his meal, even if all I did was take it out of a box and put it on a plate. He is a good guy. And every morning that he leaves for work, he stands by the bed and puts his hand on my head and recites the Aaronic blessing and then kisses my head. We aren’t Jewish…..he just does it. I am not sure how it started, He very much believes in blessing people. :)

Oh, and HE is actually Ashman. I am RA. He put it together for a username long ago. It was his nickname all through school and some friends still call him Ash or Ashman.

White Antlers

ashmanra Once again, your family tidbits have touched my heart. Brightest blessings to you and your Ashman!

day 21 advent

How is it almost christmas???? Seriously. Finally wrapped up work 2 days late but i’ll take it. I don’t have to think about work until Jan 4!!!! I pretty much plan on spending the next 2 weeks catching up on books, tv and hanging out with my husband and little one. This was a nice apple pie tea if you’re in to that sort of thing. I think i’m just about done with apple pie teas though, so it didn’t quite hit the spot for me. As a tea though, this was great if that’s your jam :)

ashmanra

Two weeks! That is AWESOME! Enjoy every second!

Wow this is delicious. Fresh, tart apple with a hint of cinnamon. Not a very complex tea, but it does apple and cinnamon very well. I might need this in my cupboard!

Gmathis and I were rather smitten with this one, too!

CuppaGeek Advent Calendar – Day 10

Yesterday we had our Hanukkah celebrations for the first night of Hanukkah. Happy Hanukkah to those celebrating! Then the night ended with a studying session for my first exam this morning. I drank this tea during the study session but as can be expected, my mind was distracted. I did like it though.

Happy Hanukkah!

Received my second ADVENT CALENDAR today and, as you can see, it’s from CuppaGeek. 4 days late isn’t that bad at all, especially when I have ordered it 17th November.

I like the idea of teas not being numbered. I get as well one reusuable tea bag with Nichole’s business card in. And tea!

I just randomly picked the one from quite small, but very cute paper bag and my hand selected this tea.

I used whole small pouch in a mug. Mug of 400 ml volume and let it steep for maybe five minutes. The aroma of prepared tea was quite on chamomile, but taste was certainly apple-y, pie-y and overall cozy and enjoyable. There is slight hint of rum indeed, but I am glad it isn’t boozy.

Enjoyable simple cuppa which delivers what is expected from it. Apple pie.

This is/was/will be one of my favorites from Cuppa Geek; it filled the void left when Celestial Seasons pulled my favorite Sweet Apple Chamomile out of rotation. It was just a little sharper in flavor thanks to a reasonable shot of hibiscus. My packet is almost out of apple bits, so this cup was mostly chamomile and hibi. Then (light bulb! duh! I have a cupboard full of additive possibilities, but never think to use them) I added a big beautiful glob of honey from the Bee Trace Apiary in Macon, MO (isn’t that a delightful name?) and now we’re back to a sweet slice of pie.

ashmanra

I only have about a teaspoon of this one yet, but thankfully I am stocked up on Spiced Fall Evenings, which was a big hit for evenings.

gmathis

We’re looking at upper 40’s over the weekend—I’ve got Spiced Fall Evenings warming up in the Saturday night bullpen!
