From Compass Teas

Mmmm… Doughnut Tea! It could easily be considered a ‘dessert tea’ that could help you cut your calorie and fat intake by substituting this yummy cup for your normal dessert. Scrumptious as is, but tastes amazing with a spoonful or two of our all natural Amber Sugar Gems (made of pure Cane Sugar) and a dash of milk, if you like.

Ingredients:

Black tea, Darjeeling, Cinnamon, Ginger, Cardamom, Nutmeg, Cloves, Vanilla Beans, Flavoring

Made with All Organic Ingredients

Oh.My.GAWD.

This takes me on a trip to YUMSVILLE!

This is one of the better chai’s I have tried and one of the best specialty-flavored chai’s I have come across!

It reminds me of a Spiced Donut from Tim Hortons! It’s like drinking chai and eating a donut at the same time!

The spices are just-right for my liking! The Vanilla is a wonderful touch! The pastry-likeness to a donut is right around where it should be! Overall this is a real winner! WOW! I really like this one!

Bonnie

Sounds good. Hard to find an exceptional chai.

OK, now THIS one sounds awesome!! Looks like you know who might have to check out the compass teas website…any other teas from there you recommend, T=Bliss?

Nik

Need. And the photo isn’t helping! There is an irrepressible NOMNOMNOM building up inside…

this was in the BBB box grab bag so i pulled it out to try. I must try ALL THE TEAS so even if i don’t think i’ll enjoy something, if it’s going to be tossed, i am happy to try it lol. This isn’t quite spiced donut but it IS a decent chai. I like the blend of spices going on in this one.

I’m not going to lie, this tea was the catalyst for my Compass teas order.

I mean – DONUTS! Probably one of my favorite desserts! In TEA!!!

The smell of this dry is exactly what those cinnamon sugar apple cinnamon donuts smell like. I think you get them from Krispy Kreme? Anyway, even the boyfriend admitted it smelled amazing – though he followed that up with his trademark “but I wouldn’t want to drink it.” Flavored blends just aren’t his thing.

Sadly though I think I steeped this too long. I went by my standard black tea steeping time but plain this is SO astringent, even a touch medicinal. This needs milk and possibly sugar…and even with it that medicinal note is peeking through – maybe that’s the apple-y note gone bad?

Anyway. So next time I’ll try a shorter steep and hope that helps things…

Backlog:

Thank you TeaEqualsBliss for sending me some of this chai … when I first saw you write a tasting note on it, I wanted to try it … I mean … Spiced Doughnut Chai? UM … YUMMMMMM!

Unfortunately, I just didn’t get a “spiced doughnut chai” taste out of it … at least, not the way I was expecting it. I expected more of a sweet, dessert-y kind of taste … you know, some, sweet, cake-y, doughnut-y kind of flavor there … but it just wasn’t there the way I had anticipated.

It is STILL yummy chai. VERY yummy! It just doesn’t live up to the Spiced Doughnut as promised in the name of the Chai. You know? So, I’ll still rate it fairly high because I liked what I tasted, I just didn’t get what I thought I would … or what I hoped for with a name like Spiced Doughnut Chai.

Wow, this actually exists! I had a doughnut for the first time in a while yesterday and was thinking hmm, surprised there’s been no doughnut tea anywhere, especially a spicier cake doughnut. Well then!
