Plantation Peach

Backlogging from yesterday: I made a pitcher of this tea Saturday so it would have time to chill and the flavors meld before the Labor Day cook out. It was lightly sweetened. One young guest, who is accustomed to the syrupy sweet southern iced tea that is predominant here, said she loved the peach but it wasn’t sweet enough for her. I have grown accustomed to tea that is lightly sweetened or u sweetened, so the level of sugar was fine.

Surprisingly, I think I like this better than Midsummer’s Peach, probably because of the additional heft of the base. It is pretty close!

Charleston Tea Plantation has been consistently good. I think I have had about four of their teas now.

Very similar to the same tea blend from Tsaa. I’m not sure which I prefer. When I first tried it, the peach overwhelmed me. Then in later steeps(I had three), it balanced out with the tea base.
In comparing it to the Tsaa version, I think this version is less “fuzzy” and sweet but I need to try a side by side to be sure.
Sooo… which do I prefer? throws up hands I really don’t know!

Its been ages since I brewed this one, so this afternoon I had multiple cups. I love this one because while there is definitely a great black base, the peach flavour is there and strong. Peach is one of my favourite fruit flavours and I find it really hard to find done well in a tea, so this tea has a special place in my heart. It’s actually the only bagged tea I keep in stock here on a consistent basis, I love it that much!

I picked this one up in Chapel Hill, too. The only bottled tea that I’ve ever really had (and that was at least five or so years ago) was peach Snapple tea. I used to really like it. I’ve also been really interested in the Charleston Tea Plantation since I first learned of it. The other day a colleague picked up a DVD from the plantation for me, which was great fun and is keeping this spot in the forefront of my memory.

So, when I saw they had a peach tea, I thought it’d be lovely for iced tea at this time of year. And I really think it was! I carried a bottle of it around with me at Earth Day and it was refreshing and tasty. It was just barely sweetened with sugar in the raw, which I think brought out the peach. Yum!

I got a teabag of this one from Erin also. Thank you very much. Backlogging. I smell mostly the black tea with a little peach when this is dry. Steeped I smell a natural peach smell and the black tea. This tastes like a natural medium peach taste and a medium strength black tea. I added some sugar. This tastes pretty good. And I really like the peach in this. And the black tea is nice to.

I loaded my One-Touch with this last night. How did I live without this machine before now? After a night spent tossing and turning and trying to sleep, I woke up to a pot of tea. No putting the kettle on. No finding a clean strainer. No spilling of tea due to sleep-induced dexterity. Just pour.

Yes, I do notice a difference in the taste of this tea when made with the Breville (I shall have to name her, she is quite special). The taste of the tea itself is much more developed and prominent, with the peach as a very delicate note. It’s still very much one of my favorite teas.

I was thinking this one was a green flavored tea but when I opened up the bag and started steeping it I noticed it was black flavored and highly aromatic! The aroma and taste are both lovely! I like most peach flavored teas but this is really good especially for a bagged tea! You have to REALLY like peach tho…lucky for me…I do! :)

This is by far one of my favorite teas. I’m not much of a taster, but I love peach tea and this happens to be one of the best that I’ve tried. I bought a loose leaf tin of this while touring the Charleston Plantation this summer. While there, they mentioned that since this is a premium tea, it needs more tea leaves to make it stronger. You can let a small amount steep forever and it won’t get the strength you’re looking for. Personally, I use a spoon and a half and love it.

One of the best perks about it is that you’re supporting American made products. :) If you get the chance, definitely tour the plantation. It’s beautiful and you will learn a lot about tea.

Having been disappointed with most peach flavored teas, I was pleasantly surprised by this. I picked up one sachet in a gift store in a tourist trap, remembering a friend mentioning liking the Charleston teas. This was a good buy and I’ll definitely be buying more. Very strong peach smell and flavor as well. Nice honest, basic black tea as the base.
