Yesterday morning I made a batch of gluten free scones, made with a mix of almond & coconut flour. I’ve been experimenting with scone recipes lately because I love scones, & I miss them. Most paleo scones don’t quite cut it, but I think I’ve just about got the recipe down. Yesterday’s scones featured diced up dates in the mix, & the texture was just right to have with tea. So this evening I ate the last of them, with a cup of this gingery brew. Oh yeah!

TeaBrat

oh, recipe please!

Jillian

It’s strange but I haven’t been able to find CS’ X-mas teas anywhere this year.

Terri HarpLady

I’ll cut & paste the current recipe from my page (although I am still experimenting with it) over to the ‘gluten free’ discussion group!

Burbling

Just in case you don’t know, my version of this tea has gluten in it, so the gluten-free person in your house may want to be cautious.

I haven’t bought bagged tea in months, but I was tempted by this because I wanted holiday tea and I had nothing gingerbread-ish.

I couldn’t tell you how it is on its own, but I can tell you that it tastes great with frothy cream and brown sugar. I don’t think I’ll bother making it any other way! I like that I can have a decaf dessert tea for late night cravings.

A 20 bag box should last me months, and I’ll probably buy this again. So, guess I’m not 100% loose leafed.

I’m not usually one for desert teas, and starting to cull much many of my teabags, but one of my weaknesses is Candy Cane Lane in this line of Holiday teas.

Ozli

Sounds good!!

TeaLady441

Mmmmm. If i didn’t already have a few peppermint teas, I’d be tempted to try the Candy Cane Lane one!

Kasumi no Chajin

well CS has had it for a few years now, there is always next season. I would also be willing to send you a sample. I personally found more vanilla notes then minty in it, and it did not remind me much of my peppermint ones in any major way.

sample sipdown! grrrr terri!

This one is a teabag i’ve been wanting to try for a while now because so many people on steepster seem to be drinking it. This isn’t too bad, though i can see it being a little more creamy and delicious like with a big of milk. Though i’m too lazy to add some tonight haha. There’s a good amount of ginger and spice in this one, and as far as teabags go, not too bad.

TeaLady441

It’s a nice cheap alternative to some of those gingerbread teas out there. I double-bag it and add milk. :P

Another holiday blend from the Traveling Tea Box! It’s funny that Candy Cane Lane seems to get such amazing reviews (and I finally have a sample of it to try, hooray!) but the rest of them have low ratings. I was disappointed in the Nutcracker blend but I must persevere!

This is, hmm, interesting. Doesn’t taste a whole lot like gingerbread, though there is definitely ginger and cinnamon in here. But I am tasting this odd almost chocolatey element which sounds like it would be good but it’s oddly fake and waxy. And at the end of the sip it’s sour for some reason? I greatly prefer the Bigelow Gingerbread one, this is just a little funky.

TeaLady441

I found it made a decent latte – a nice treat on cold evenings!

Alphakitty

This probably would make a nice latte, but I am spoiled I think by better gingerbread flavored teas (like Red Leaf’s Gingerbread matcha!). It is pretty decent for a bagged tea, just not what I was expecting.

I should have read other users tasting notes before trying this, but I was intrigued by this as it is an “herbal” tisane and not a flavored black tea. I don’t know how they made it taste like gingerbread, but it does. It just tastes like what’s at the bottom of your cup of tea after your ginger snaps have gotten soggy and disintegrated after dipping them in your tea. I don’t really know how else to explain it. I took a few sips but it is thick as mud and has cooled down too much. Maybe this will be added to my english breakfast tea 2:1 to see if they pair well for a spicy sweet cup….hrm…not my cup of tea without tweaking.

Kristen

I was disappointed by this one too!

I saw this displayed at my local grocery store. I’m a bit peeved at them for not having the holiday teas until after the holidays but better late than never. I was hoping for sugar cookie but there wasn’t any.

This needs a loooong steep to taste good. At 5 mins it was pure ginger. Medicinal. I left the bag in as I sipped and then the cinnamon came forward. Mmm cinnamon. Then a sweetness developed. Nice. Needs some other spices to be real gingerbread but this is ok. Not my favorite, but I’ll drink it.

SunnyinNY

Sorry you didn’t like this one. I loved it. I thought the ginger was the main note, but it was good.

I have Sugar Cookie, but for some reason I haven’t tried it yet….guess that’s what I’m having tonight.

Mercuryhime

I do love ginger but I’m beginning to think that fresh or pickled is the only way to go. Dried just doesn’t do it for me. :(

SunnyinNY

True. I just seem to love ginger in my teas. I have a few ginger flavored teas that I adore & this is one of them.

Found a lookalike recipe for Starbucks Gingerbread online and actually attempted it yesterday (mind you, this requires measuring flour and “creaming till fluffy” — techniques which are the outer limits of my cooking ability) and this just seemed like the appropriate accompaniment. With a little honey, t’wasn’t bad.

The gingerbread wasn’t an exact copy, but again, t’wasn’t bad, either. It only collapsed a little in the middle.

Ginger sounded like a fabulous pick-me-up this morning, so I decided to try out this tea. It certainly perked up my curiosity, because it reminds me more of the Tudor-era Gyngerbrede made with honey and breadcrumbs than any modern ginger cookie I’ve experienced. I think I may have some baking in my future to see how they compare side-by-side!
