I treated myself to my first infusion of this tea, earlier, to build myself up for the trip to the dentist. I’d only ever really smelled the bag briefly, without looking inside in great detail, so I’d forgotten this was a white-tea-base and assumed, because of the fairly strong flavours in the name, it would be a black! I was really surprised to see Butiki’s lovely Bai Mu Dan come tumbling into my infuser-basket!

It also put me at ease, big time. It smelled absolutely wonderful and I have very positive experience with Butiki’s BMD. So, I set about brewing, as per Stacy’s instructions, and made my breakfast.

I was certainly impressed – the smell of the tea seemed to capture everything in the name – that warmth of cinnamon, sweetness of vanilla and, er…, squash of squash!

On the palette, much the same, though the squash flavour was admittedly much weaker. The normal flavour of the BMD did come across kinda squash-like, though, so I didn’t mind so much. And it was really delicious to drink. I think I’ll really enjoy the rest of my little bag of this.

This sounds soooo good! I hope your dental appointment went well!

Red Fennekin

Yeah, it was really good :D

My appointment was bit of a disaster, sadly T_T They screwed up my filling, which has now fallen out, so I’m now experiencing pretty intense toothache (whereas I was pain-free before!!). Gonna go back tomorrow to see if they can fix it…

DeliriumsFrogs

I’m glad they’re getting you right back in tomorrow…but tooth pain is absolutely NO fun. I feel so bad for you! (I get major anxiety over tooth pain and dental appointments..).
And to have pain now, where it was painless before must be incredibly aggravating. grrr…

Red Fennekin

Indeed… Thanks for your support, though :-)

Another from the order! The leaves to me just look like a couple squash pieces and a lovely bai mu dan white tea. I don’t see any vanilla or cinnamon in my teaspoon and a half parceled out for this steeping session. I tried to mix up the pouch too. To me, bai mu dan usually seems lemony so I’m not sure if it would go with a squash tea. The flavor is nice enough. Oddly the main note is something roasty and nutty. Not really any cinnamon and vanilla. Hints of lemon. A lovely idea for a blend, but it’s not the usual Butiki magic to me! I’ll try it again differently soon, maybe I’ll have more to say.

This tea. Yessssssssss. Quite sad I only have the tiny half ounce of this one and it’s all gone, because it is a very delicious white tea. Perfect light cinnamon/vanilla spice, yummy squash flavour, and since I’m doing this from memory, I can’t remember the other flavour association I made….. oh! Nuts – it tasted quite nutty to me. Perhaps that was the base?? But I like nuttiness in tea, and it really worked. This would have been a 1-2 oz. purchase for me.

Thanks Stacy for the extra sample!

I pulled this one out to share with my mom while we put up my Xmas tree. Doing a white/silver theme this year. Turned out pretty nice! I found this beautiful 3D silver dove as the topper and went from there.

I didn’t realize that this was a white tea. So, I thought it was a bit weak. For a white tea it made sense though. The flavors were subtle. I would’ve preferred them stronger, but overall it wasn’t a bad cup! Mom and I got about 6 cups total out of the sample too.

If Butiki wasn’t closing I’d maybe suggest this with a black base, but not sure if that would overpower the flavors….I’m not the tea master so I’m sure they did what was best!

I’d definitely recommend everyone to get a bit of this to try though.

This one comes from a friend…she sent me a few Butiki teas for Christmas from her order, and I’m sending a few (ok, a ton) of teas to her, many local ones. Being that I didn’t get home til 9 or so, I opted for this one, as the other caffeine tea I had today was Long Life Oolong. And I have a late start in the morning tomorrow at work, so if the caffeine does do anything, I’m not fussed over missing sleep. But this is a white, so I’m not so concerned.

Anyway…this tea is a lot lighter than I thought, though I guess it being a white, it is as light as I was realistically expecting. The squash does bring a richer, warmer, denser feel to it though. I just think I was anticipating a little heavier…I don’t know why. Perhaps I was subconsciously thinking of squash or pumpkin pies and whipped cream and the heavy at the bottom of your tummy but oh so good along the way sort of heavy/body. And I think I was still expecting a darker oolong or black base. But those are all my grand delusions…I guess I just forget that this is a white tea.

That said, this tea is really nice. But like I said, for a white tea, the squash does add a richer, warmer, denser depth of flavour, though more subtle, like ribbons dancing across my tongue. I notice the cinnamon first. And the cinnamon flirts with the squash, and jealous vanilla tries to cut in with squash. And they all seem to dance happily away, with sometimes the vanilla being the stronger note, and sometimes the cinnamon.

It’s a really unique tea, and I wish I had more of this, but I’m happy to have been able to try it. I have a second cup waiting for when this one is finished. The dance isn’t over yet, and the chaperones aren’t looking. :P

ohfancythat

Are you going to make out with this tea on the dance floor?!

GASP! Scandalous!

Plunkybug

Ha ha ha! It did sort of make out with my tongue and taste buds…

On this beautiful foggy morning I decided to try this and wow I love it! The subtle sweet spiciness of the cinnamon and squash with vanilla makes such a delicious cup. It reminds me of eating a warm apple pie with ice cream on top, but instead of apple it’s sweet potato. I’m loving the new teas! Another home run!

Tasting this tea makes saying goodbye to Butikl even harder!
Wonderful new blend. I am not a huge fan of green tea, but Stacy always makes it yummy.
The squash is roasty and very pleasant and surprisingly not overpowered by the cinnamon. Delight in a cup.

Oh my yum! Out of all of the new teas, this is my absolute favorite. It is just so unique and autumny. The squash is very present and sweet, like a roasted squash and the cinnamon is sweet and slightly spicy, while the soft vanilla adds warmth. It literally feels like autumn in a cup. It’s just one of those teas that you take a sip and then another and before you know it the tea is gone. Unfortunately, we don’t have much of this since I purchased the smallest amount of flavoring but I’m thinking I might pick up more because I have a feeling that everyone will like this one.
