Rose Violet Calendula Oolong

This tea is just as wonderful as everyone says it is—I’m often underwhelmed by the teas that are really popular on Steepster, but not this time! It really does taste like a springtime garden—I can’t identify the separate florals involved, but I can say that they merge into something really delightful. And although there’s no denying that this blend is strong on the florals, they’re not overwhelming or soapy or perfume-y. I can taste the (very green, fittingly) oolong, but it’s not the star of the show. The second steep was almost as good as the fist—a little lighter on the florals and heavier on the oolong, but not drastically different. Even my mom, who is not a fan of floral teas, thought this was pretty nice and something she might not mind drinking once in a while. Thanks for the sample, Fuzzy_Peachkin!

I am on the second steep of this flowery tea and it smells like roses. It is light and flowery and the flavour does linger. A very pretty tea and fun to drink.

Very springy and floral, one of the perfume-iest teas I’ve had but somehow still enjoyable—I guess because it avoids that stale musty smell rose scents often have. Like really good, lots-of-flowers-used soap or lotion. Not my kind of thing too regularly, but once in a while straight or blended in with other teas it’s what I want. I think I’ve discovered I really seem to like calendula…

EDIT: Also, now reading other notes I totes agree with Bonnie (I was thinking the same thing just now) that this is the ideal “tea party with all the stops pulled out” type tea. A tea you feel like drinking while wearing a pinafored dress and keeping your pinkies where they’re “supposed” to be, ha. Yep.

I’m having one of those wonderful nights where my husband is taking some interest in my tea shelf and he chose this one at random for us to taste together. I have been reading wonderful reviews about this one recently so I am super hyped to be finally tasting it.

Upon opening the little bag I experienced such a wonderful floral smell, a magical blend of rose, jasmine and violet. It was very fresh smelling and very pure/natural. The oolong is a fresh dark green colour that has been cut into little balls and the flower petals add a touch of fun in the colour schemes.

Once brewed the soup becomes golden in colour with a desirable floral fragrance of which the rose and jasmine are the most prominent. It has a somewhat Turkish Delight vibe to it.

After his first sip my husband said that this tastes like “a flower shop” or “a big bunch of flowers”. It’s very simply put but he is correct, the first sips bring out the flower flavours and it’s not until a couple of sips later that you can taste the slight sweet and nutty oolong in the background. It’s a strongly floral blend but the rose and violet is exactly why I bought this tea in the first place so I can say it truly lives up to it’s name.

I am in love with this blend, it’s so simple yet so elegant. I feel as though I have the same floral warmth from this tea as I do when I have jasmine green pearls (which I adore).

This is my first order from Butiki Teas. I’m always in a search for a perfect rose tea. This smells like a delicate mixture of rose and violet with a hint of jasmine.
It’s light and floral and tastes like Marzipan which is good thing as far as I’m concerned.

This is pretty and quite flavorful! I can taste the Calendula a bit more than the Rose Violet and I think that is just fine and dandy! This is good hot or cold!

Finishing off the last 2 tsp left of this tea in the box to make a pot of this lovely tea. When I first opened and smelled the tea, I fell in love with it. It was like a floral wonderland in there. I was a little cautious, though, because yesterday I had a rose green tea that smelled amazing but tasted soapy. Now, I’ve never had Butiki before, but heard great things, and this tea held up! I can definitely taste the strong rose flavor, not so sure about violent or calendula, but I am not the best at teasing tastes apart. I will say that it is slightly more perfume-y than I’d like, but I think that the strong floral flavors pair very well with the more hidden oolong base. I’m putting this on my wishlist to remind myself to buy some when I eventually make a Butiki order!

Wow! This is a fantastic Oolong – so much better than I anticipated. I love floral teas as it is, but, I really didn’t expect such a beautiful harmony of flowery flavors with this tea. It is so soft and beautiful. Such a delight!

I’m really becoming a fan of Stacy’s flavored oolongs. They are balanced and sophisticated. I am a fan of florals in general so this tea really didn’t have to work that hard to impress me but it just did. I love the subtle yet distinct rose tones in taste and smell. The champagne colored tea is pretty, smells pretty and just tastes good. Is there a more girly tea out there?

This is a nice, round, floral tea. I am not familiar enough with oolongs (yet) to really describe the base properly, but the floral aspect is both dominant and pleasing. The dry leaves smell like roses and, well, tea. The serving looks small, but the leaves unfurl beautifully in hot water. The brewed tea has a more delicate rose scent that I am really enjoying. It reminds me of rose perfume. The initial taste is also very rosy, though the jasmine comes out more as the tea cools. Unlike most of the other reviewers, I’m not picking up the violet at all. Oh, well. This is pretty awesome as a rose tea. Thanks to Stacy at Butiki Teas for the sample.
