From Bigelow

For our special Earl Grey, we’re adamant about using only the best bergamot oil. We source ours from the same garden in Calabria, Italy year after year. Then we carefully blend this flavorful and aromatic bergamot with a bold handpicked black tea… a recipe like no other.

Last bag of Earl Grey, hot with milk gone today. This was a rather delicious earl grey.

Thank you hannaspring for this tea Sample!

I have migraine with nausea. This happens pretty frequently and I might only be sick part of the day and then the migraine will go away.
While I’m feeling sea sick…caffeine is helpful…but I don’t want to fuss with pots and tea leaves or timing when the room is spinning.
Hail the tea bag!
I can’t screw up a tea bag, miss the measurement…break the pot…or spill the leaves on the floor!
I just poured the hot water in my big mug, tossed the teabag in and went to sit down on my couch (sunglasses on and curtains closed to block the light).
I guesstimated 3 minutes, took out came the teabag and my fragrant cup of tea was ready.
The tea wasn’t too bergamoty or too creamy. Simply a pretty mid level Earl Grey with a little orangey aftertaste. I could taste the teabag paper but I’d rather in the tea than sour, bitterness or astringency.

This bagged tea isn’t too bad. Middle of the road flavor but very welcome when I don’t have the will to prepare tea without passing out!
(Maybe having some more teabags like this around is a good idea!)

Missy

Eww! Migraines are yucky! Hope you feel better soon.

Hesper June

As a fellow migraine sufferer, I understand your discomfort and hope it dissipates quickly.
Glad you had this simple tea to comfort you.

Ninavampi

Get better soon! I hate migraines… They ruin my day and make me useless till they pass. Please feel better soon! :)

Bonnie

Thanks, it was probably due to a weather change. Barometric changes sets them off and the sky had a bank of thick clouds hanging over the State all day during the memorial services for the people shot in Aurora. Over the Mts. at sunset the sky was all golden like glimpses of hope.

Get well soon!

Ugh. Got like 3 hours of sleep last night since I had to be up so early. I really really REALLY hate seeing 6:45 AM unless I’m about to head off to bed now. Oh well, I’m sure I will make up for that tonight.

So when we had a break at my Nurse Residency class today I found some of this near the coffee machine. It was a sad little box, all alone and neglected in favor of the coffee pot but I was super glad to see there was at least something there for me!

This steeped up pretty dark and pretty quickly too. I added some sugar and creamer and it was surprisingly flavorful. The bergamot was at the forefront like it should be in all earl greys, with a solid, if unmemorable, black base. Not the best Earl Grey I’ve had but not bad for a bagged option!

Those random, bagged Earl Greys are a lighthouse in a sea of darkness, aren’t they? :D

So, I just got back from a cruise to Alaska. This is what I drank on the boat.

Note to self: Bring my own tea on the next cruise.

This is a genuinely average cuppa tea. Nothing to write home about. No real bergamot to speak of. Forgettable. It will, however, do in a pinch…like when you’re trapped at sea…

Welcome home! Hope you had a blast!

Bonnie

I did a cruise in Sept to Alaska on Holland America. Loved Sitka! Yep even with daily tea service it’s bagged. Best bring your own!

Sandy Stith

I was on Holland America as well. I was surprised tea service was bagged. Blasphemous! :) I bought some tea in Alaska. We’ll see how that goes.

TeaBrat

Nice, I was thinking about taking a cruise to Alaska at some point!

LiberTEAS

I do think I’d be disappointed if tea service meant bagged tea. But I hope that the rest of the trip was spectacular for you!

Last bag of this from my Bigelow sampler pack. Will definitely have to pick up some more to have on hand…it’s got just the right amount of bergamot flavoring for me!

Does anyone know if Bigelow has a retail shop like Celestial Seasonings and Stash has? I know there’s a Bigelow something-or-other in Louisville, but I don’t know if I can get tea there…

One of my favorites. Deep black tea dust with a thick smoky oil slick of delicious bergamot oil floating on the top like the puddle in the intro to Little Shop of Horrors. Just some plain ole good shit. :) I really will always love this one. Kinda biased. Idk. :) Yum though.

Got my braces off, and my orthodontist had teabags by the coffee pot thing, and since there was no hot water, I decided I’d just take a few bags on my way out. I promise, it was legal. LOL

Anyways, this is a nice Earl Grey, very fragrant when you take out the tea bag, looses a bit of it when steeping, but the flavor is very nice. Smooth and good with cream. :)

Holiday inn express has great breakfast except their tea is some generic orange pekoe teabag in a paper wrapper. Good thing I keep a stash of emergency tea bags in a cute tea wallet I received from a swap. The Earl of Grey saved me this morning when I desperately needed both caffiene and comfort. Stuck near ATL while car is being repaired, hoping to get home to NC tonight.

ashmanra

I stayed at the one in Charleston a week ago. The mattress was perfect, the pillow divine, the tea was…well, I think I will make myself one of those cute tea wallets you just mentioned! Is it fabric or paper?

JacquelineM

this is also where Harney & Sons tagalong tins would come in handy. I keep forgetting to throw a few into my cart so I can carry them in my purse for such emergencies :) It’s a quality of life issue :) :) :)

ashmanra

Great idea! I have bought one or two and they are easily refilled.

This is a tasting note not exactly for this tea. It is for the Keurig version of this tea.

I was outside all day yesterday and of course got a sunburn. I was also quite dehydrated despite drinking lemonade all day. I was at my parents, so before the long drive home I decided to make an iced tea. This was the easiest thing my parents had. So I brewed it through the Keurig into my travel mug filled with ice. It was good enough. Tasted like a slightly astringent earl grey, the black tea taste was heavy. The bergamot was strong, but it was not sweet bergamot. There was a slight coffee taste due to contamination from the Keurig. But it got me home. I think if I was going to drink this again, I would drink it hot.

I love tea, and hot black tea is my daily necessity. I have tried so many different types of black teas for my mornings, English Breakfast, Irish Breakfast, bagged, loose, those-triangle-baggies, you name it, and Bigelow’s Earl Grey is one of my favorites.

I know some purists upturn their noses at bags, but I am a complete zombie in the morning and rely on my tea to keep me alive, and this no-fuss bag is how I accomplish just that.

since you like earl grey i would NOT recommend the earl grey white by teavana…i cant drink black tea because of all the caffeine so i thought id try the white, and the taste is just TERRIBLE. so…fyi ;)

Antonia G

Yes, you are so right! Their Earl Grey White is just awful. Shame, because it smells so nice and my husband so thoughtfully bought me quite a bit of it.

I ♥ NewYorkCiTEA

those-triangle-baggies = sachets ! =)

Thanks! It’s my first and only blog kinda thing, so it’s a hot mess right now. Not sure what I want to do with it.
