I really love oolongs, especially strong and highly oxidised ones, so I was excited to try a few of Teavivre’s.

The Tie Guan Yin has very green leaves, a strong grassy scent (very much like a pure green), and a very solid aroma unsteeped.

Brewed the aromas become very light and airy with lots of floral notes. The brew becomes pale yellow in color. I only steeped for 4 minutes, as I did not want to risk too much astringency.

I was very impressed and surprised by the flavor. I expected the tea to taste much more like the dried leaves smelled, but it was quite herbaceous and fruity – and just lovely all around. It would have still been delicious had it been stronger, but this was perfect for what was craving at the time.

I will be steeping this a couple more minutes next time to see if I get the stronger flavors without too much more astringency. I might also add a tiny bit of honey to go with some of the fruity notes of the tea.

All around, this was an exemplary tea that I will certainly be drinking again. As someone with a higher oxidation preference, I was delighted at how much I enjoyed this very green oolong.

This is a delicious, yet super strong, black tea. Make sure you come hungry when you sit down to this tea – and don’t steep it long! I tried a number of different steeping times and concentrations of leaves on this one – all produced very strong results. This is definitely for black tea lovers! Though it is powerful, it is very refreshing and lovely. I loved it with and without sugar and though I don’t like milk in my tea, it can definitely hold its flavor with some cream!

I was reeeally excited about this one. Besides black tea, peppermint is one of my great loves. Real, honest-to-god peppermint. Chad at Chad’s Chai was gracious enough to send me five very generous samples with my cup infuser, he even allowed me to pick out which ones I wanted! I was like a kid in a candy shop. No, seriously, it was shameful how excited I was.

This was the first one I opened… and man it was heavenly. I’ve had lots of peppermint teas before, but nothing ever this strong. I sniffed and sniffed, and sneezed, and sniffed some more. I’m not sure if I should be admitting this addiction to the internet.

I used boiling water. I like my peppermint strong, and boiling certainly didn’t do any harm, save made me wait a bit longer to drink it, or, should I say, allowed me to burn myself sooner. The brew smelled as one would imagine, minty angels wafting into my nostrils on gently unfurling, leafy wings.

The description is very correct in that this tea has a very full body, and is really designed for the mint lover. I can see myself drinking this year-round as it is THE best mint tea I have ever tasted, but I can see some only purchasing this for colder months or as flu relief. This will certainly be a future purchase.

I am in LOVE with this blend! I was super apprehensive at first, though. Earl Grey is my most favoritest tea in the world, so adding anything to it could seriously shake my world.

Money has been tight, so I have recently written a few companies and inquired about samples. Joy’s Teaspoon generously sent me Strawberry Oolong and the Earl Grey Cream. I am suspicious that someone actually read my profile and tea preferences, because I can’t think of any two of their teas that I would like to try more.

Anyway, back to the tea. I brewed this early Sunday morning before I went out to sit on the porch with my husband. It was an unseasonably cool and cloudy morning, and with the addition to this tea it was a perfect experience. The blend has the full body of a solid Earl Grey but with a lovely creamy malt. To my surprise, though, it is just as refreshing as a non-cream counterpart. I was so pleased that I forced my husband to try some, and even he really liked it, and he’s not big on Earl Grey.

The friendly people at Obubu Tea sent me this free of charge! Included was a discount code and a lovely hand-written note; I was touched and impressed. My throat has been very sore as of late, so I used boiling hot water on this one. I enjoy very strong flavors in my teas, which is why I believe I prefer blacks, so I would probably be seen as mistreating most greens that come my way. I am a supertaster, however, and fully appreciate subtle flavors, so I don’t think greens are lost on me. My heart would still very much like to procure a gaiwan and treat these delicate Japanese and Chinese greens with a more traditional preparation.

The leaves are beautifully fragrant. I sniffed the bag more times than I care to admit! The water was boiling, so I didn’t steep this too long (unusual for me). The mesh sleeve for my cast iron teapot had gone on the fritz, so I had to use one of my cups. The perforations in the cup let through some of the smaller bits of leaves, but that doesn’t deter me in the least; I find it rather endearing.

THIS is what I picture when I think of green tea. It was perfect. It was all there, the grassy flavor, the faint fruit aroma, tinge of bitterness, followed by a hint of sweetness. There was slight astringency, which I so enjoy and feel creates a perfect foil with the sweet aftertaste. Sencha of the Wind was unlike a lot of green teas that I have had, with full body but still clean and refreshing. My aching throat was grateful, and after the first sip I greedily devoured the rest of the cup. And since it was only a cup, I still have some left. I can’t wait for my next!

I have a terrible respiratory infection right now. My mother is starting her chemotherapy for breast cancer soon and I can’t be around her until I am better. This is particularly painful. I am on several medications, but few things truly relieve my sore throat like a steaming cup of strong black tea.

I awoke at 4:30am unable to swallow. Upon trying it felt like I was forcing down razor-sharp slivers of glass. I needed something strong and comforting.

I put the electric kettle on and put in a hefty amount of Earl Grey; the strongest dose I’ve had to date. I poured the just boiling into my cast iron teapot and gently slid in the mesh. The result was a super-strong, ebony, and highly perfumed cup of tea. I am now on my third cup, my throat is feeling significantly better, and my sinuses have cleared up quite a bit. I think the re-steep on this will also be very strong considering how many leaves I used.

Upon opening the package I could smell a lovely fruit aroma. I had not yet read the full description, so I was confused because I didn’t know there was blueberry included. As with all green teas, hell, most teas I drink, I oversteep. The blueberry and cucumber really take the forefront here, with the green tea and mint giving only subtle notes in the back. The fruitiness is not overwhelming, however, but it is very present. As a big fan of mint teas, I would have liked to see the mint take on a larger role, but this blend is by no means bad. This was a very enjoyable cup.
