Tea of the Week for September 23, 2019!

This is so good!

If you’ve been following 52Teas for a while – you’re probably aware that we like to play around with our classic Marshmallow Treat Genmaicha – one of our most popular teas. This time around, I added raspberries – lots & lots of organic, freeze-dried raspberries – to our Marshmallow Treat Genmaicha. And . . . YUM!

This tea starts with the usual ingredients: genmaicha (an organic green tea with toasted/popped rice), marshmallow root & natural flavors. Then, as I mentioned before, I added a bunch of raspberries. The raspberries add a bright sweet-tartness to the cup that nicely contrasts the sweet, smooth & toasty flavor of the Marshmallow Treat genmaicha. Such a delightful flavor!

This organic blend is vegan – yep, you read that right, it’s VEGAN. It’s also gluten free & allergen free!

organic ingredients: green tea, toasted/popped rice, raspberries, marshmallow root & natural flavors

(52teas (Anne) 2022: 221)

This tea smelled heavily of marshmallow root – a bit too much, I think. I wasn’t able to taste much raspberry flavour, so it was mostly a very marshmallow root-heavy cup, which gave it a bit of bitterness that I wasn’t overly fond of. I’ve had better flavoured genmaichas, but perhaps this one was just missing its raspberry due to age.

Sipdown (1178)!

Thank you VariaTEA for the share!

This Genmaicha sounded awesome and it was! Light and toasty with the similar creamy notes that all of the “Marshmallow Treat” variations have, but couple with a delicate buttery raspberry note – a raspberry appropriate for sweets/desserts and pastry and less of a “bright and natural” raspberry. However, that is the perfect sort of raspberry for this situation and this tea.

Really enjoyed this one a lot! I drank it after work, and it was the perfect thing to relax and destress with!

Sample from VariaTEA. While i like the raspberry notes in this one, i think i prefer marshmallow krispie genmaicha if i am to have one in the cupboard :) but this was a nice cup for a non black tea today!

Sipdown (264)

I measured a sample of this out for Sil per her request and then realized I had just over a serving left. So this cup was overleafed but its still nice. I am not getting much raspberry which is weird since there were definitely raspberry pieces in the cup and Anne’s flavoring is usually pretty on point. I am getting a lot of the marshmallow and rice. This basically tastes like her original marshmallow treat genmaicha – which I am not mad at. With that said, I can just buy the plain version, which is one of the permanent blends so I don’t really feel bad saying good bye to this limited blend.

Cameron B.

You say that like the original marshmallow treat is in stock… (sob)

VariaTEA

I’m sorry. I refuse to look at the site because I know I’ll find teas I want and I’m trying to not spend haha

Cameron B.

Someday I will get to order it. ;)

52Teas

@VariaTEA Please, never refuse to visit my site. It’s customers like you that keep us in business and if everyone refuses to visit our site and shop with us, then we won’t be able to make the teas you want anyway.

@Cameron B.: The original will be in stock by the end of November – We’ve been working hard to get the 12 Teas of Christmas done by our deadline (we’re getting there!) and once that happens, we’ll be able to focus on getting the D’s Teas replenished.

VariaTEA

@52Teas, don’t worry, I am sure I will cave soon enough, especially with the 12 Teas of Christmas showing up

Taking a tea break – and I grabbed this tea because it happened to be handy. Even though I just blended this one only a couple of months ago, I guess with all the hustle and craziness of the holidays (I did, after all, blend 33 teas in a matter of 3 months) I had forgotten just how yummy this is! The tart of the raspberry offers a really nice contrast to the sweetness of the marshmallow. A really nice pick-me-up.
