Tea of the Week for August 24, 2015

August represents the end of summer for me. Oh I’m sure that we still have quite a bit of warm weather headed our way (drat!) but school starts soon and for me, the end of summer is when August ends and September begins. One of my favorite summer fruits is peaches and since I haven’t done a peach blend yet, well, I couldn’t very well let summer pass without offering at least one peach flavored tea.

At about the same time that I realized that I hadn’t created any peach teas, I realized I hadn’t created any cupcake inspired teas either. And me being the devout cupcakist that I am, I couldn’t let another month pass without a cupcake tea! So I decided to bring together these two fantastic tea ideas: peach & cupcake and create a Peach Cupcake Green Tea!

For this blend, I used my organic green tea base of Chinese Chun Mee & Gunpowder teas and added some vanilla bean, dried organic peaches & organic, all-natural flavors. Get ready to go bananas … err … PEACHES! for this tea!

Large size is 2 ounces.

Ingredients: Organic Chinese Teas, Vanilla Bean, Organic Dried Peaches & Organic, all-natural flavors.

I taste peach, but no “cupcake” aspect. Tasty, the base green is nice, but overall not my most favorite.

This tea has a really lovely peach flavor. The cupcake is really more of a sensation than an obvious flavor or a modifier of the peach flavor. It’s a bit like baked peaches. And the aftertaste, while short, is candied peaches. I expected this tea to be good, but I’m really liking it more than expected. I find my self wanting more of this one.

This sounds lovely. I hope 52teas has more peach teas on the horizon.

Mmmmm……….. I wasn’t sure whether I’d enjoy this, but I I really do. I brewed it at a lower temperature and longer time than recommended. I love the peach flavor in the green tea. It blends beautifully. I’m not really getting the cakiness, except maybe as a booster to the peach’s sweetness. This is just summer happiness in a cup, without being too sweet.
