From 52teas

My grandparents were part of that “Greatest Generation” of Americans. My grandfather served in the Navy in the South Pacific during World War II. After the war, he became an auto mechanic and opened his own garage. My grandmother was a registered nurse. In my recollection of her, I always thought she came from something of a well-to-do family, or she had aspirations to be a well-to-do family. (I can’t help but think about Hyacinth Bucket in the BBC comedy Keeping Up Appearances; my grandmother wasn’t that bad, but there was an element of Hyacinth in her).

Anyway, whenever the family got together at grandma’s house, she had these extravagant meals planned that frequently started with fruit cocktail. I can’t say why this fact has stuck in my memory more than others, but I remember the Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve dinners with fruit cocktails all around to start. I remember thinking it was like getting dessert before dinner.

So, in memory of my grandparents, here’s our delicious Chinese sencha blended with real peach, pear, pineapple and natural peach, pear, pineapple and maraschino cherry flavors. It’s so delicious, you could serve it as a first course.

Special thanks to LiberTEAS for this one!!!

Before infusion I can smell the typical fruit cocktail type flavors after infusion I can smell the green tea much more than the flavors…yet the flavors that are somewhat hidden…are still an enjoyable aroma.

All of the flavors mesh together nicely for a tasty flavored green. There really isn’t a flavor that pops out in front of the others – at least during this cup – but it sure is a YUMMY Cuppa regardless!

I’m the first rating this tea?

I got my order today from 52Teas, and couldn’t wait to try this one. I too am a big fan of fruit cocktail – it was about the only dish that my stepmother could prepare properly, since all she had to do was open a can.

This tea is really very good. The cherry is a very prominent flavor and I like that – since the cherries were always my favorite part of the fruit cocktail! There is also a nice pear flavor to it that isn’t overwhelmed by the pineapple or peach. A very nice balance.

It is very sweet and fruity and I like that. But I can also taste the green tea. A great cup of YUM!

I look forward to trying this one chilled!

Bit leary of this one since it has everything but the kitchen sink. Glad it was good though!:)

I liked the cherry best too, so I was a little heavy handed with it. I’m glad you enjoyed it!

Angrboda

Have you tied the white tropical one? How is it as compared to that? Something similar?

TeaEqualsBliss

This sounds neat!

LiberTEAS

Angroboda – yes, I’ve tried the white tropical one… hmmm… I would need to try it again though to be able to fairly compare them… I shall do so a little later.

TeaEqualsBliss: I’ve already got some portioned out for you!

TeaEqualsBliss

Thanks girlie!
I’m glad it doesn’t have bananas in it!

LiberTEAS

This one is pretty spot on when it comes to the “old fashioned” canned fruit cocktail. No bananas in that! :)

This is my first tea from my clearance mystery box, I was in the mood for something fruity and green so this seemed like a good pick. If you want to see what other flavors I got, I posted them here: http://steepster.com/discuss/816-final-zoomdweebies-clearance.

I love the way this tea smells!! It smells like some kind of cherry candy, maybe mike & ikes or life savers – mmmmm! I first made it hot but then I decided to put ice in it since it is so hot out. The tea is a pretty light green color and it smells just like the dry leaves. It tastes like it smells too which is awesome! Its tastes like sweet, fruity, and there is a nice punch of green tea in there too. Overall this is delicious.

I realized I forgot to rate this one – haha.

I feel kind of wrong for liking this, because I know I shouldn’t… but theres something about the cherry lipbalm notes in this tea that I’m inexplicably and ashamedly drawn to.

This tea is so good… it’s especially good iced! My brother-in-law even loves it, and he has one of the fussiest palates that I know of.

Cofftea

Why should you not like it?

Stephanie

When I was little (like 3 or 4) I actually ate Cherry Chapsticks! I thought they smelled so yummy—like lollipops. :)

And lived to tell about it! Lol!

Miss Sweet

Yum, I wish cherry lipbalm tasted exactly how it smelled like

Thanks to Jessica I get to try another of Franks delicious sounding blends. This one wasn’t super impressive. I enjoyed the flavor of the green base, but couldn’t get much flavor out of the fruit cocktail. Tasted mostly like a muted fruit, maybe the sugary corn syrup the fruits soaked in, rather than the fruits themselves? That always had a mild fruit flavor to it. Not a bad tea, just didn’t knock my socks off like the Elderberry I cherish.

First thank you Jessica for sending this one my way!

Meh! It was okay. Tasted better as it cooled but to be honest I am not a huge fan of fruity and only wanted to try this because of some of the reviews I had read.

I’d be sold if it weren’t for the cherry.

See now I love cherry but not sure if I do in tea.

Tried this yesterday as 12 oz hot in my travel mug. The dry leaf smell is just like the bottles of perfume my grandma collected on her desk: a chemical and vaguely floral cloud. It leaned more towards the cherry cough syrup side of chemical so I decided to give it a try.
The first sip quite hot was surprisingly jasmine but a couple sips later it vanished and I was just sorting through the cough syrup/ marachino taste. I left it a while and tried it warm and then a little when it was almost cold. I’m glad I tried it like this. It was vaguely floral/ cough syrupy warm, but slightly sweet and more cherry and pineapple tasing whilecool. Definately an iced tea.
I guess I enjoyed the interesting experience of marachino musk flavor but not much. Even though the flavors/flavorings don’t work together (I suspect the peach & pear flavorings) you can tell everything’s pure and fresh. Kudos on that.

Thanks to Joecool1979 for swapping.

I tried this iced for the first time and this fully reminds me of cherry Oragel! I’m sitting here now expecting my mouth to go numb at any second now!!! Eeeek! It is drinkable, but I will not be making anymore of this…anyone want to swap me around 2oz of tea for this one that is now missing 2tsp of tea? lol PM me if you do!

I love green tea and I shamlessly adore fruity teas. I brewed this one iced and I think that I may add one less tsp. of tea in the next batch. The tea came out far more grassy than fruity. All of this being said, it’s still a super refreshing and delicious. I think that I’ll like it even more once I get the brewing proportions right.

Interesting. Not interesting bad. Just interesting.

I’m not sure if I would have bought this if I had tasted it on its own. That being said, I’m not sad I received it! The cherry flavour is bam!, smack you in the face cherry. Cherry without sweetness is an interesting experience. Like a Halls cough drop without the methol. The tartness was nice, but I really want to reel the intensity back a bit. I’m going to think about what I could blend this with to make the cherry a little more subtle (chocolate, perhaps?). I almost killed a colleague with this, though, so share carefully, with fair warning!
