From 52teas

The ice cream shop was out of my favorite butter pecan ice cream a while back, so I decided we should create a butter pecan ice cream tea!

Here it is: our premium black tea blended with organic vanilla bean bits, pecan pieces and natural vanilla, pecan and (just a touch) butter flavors. I made a big iced cup of this to take home today. I was going to save a little for my wife to try, but (sorry Sheri) it didn’t last that long. I know most people enjoy these nutty kinds of tea hot, but it was a delicious iced tea, let me tell you–a nice bold black iced tea with just a solid hint of vanilla-y, buttery pecan goodness. Yum. I hit the bottom of my cup way sooner than I anticipated.

A week or two ago as I was sorting through my stash I found a tiny bit of this tea stashed away from where I would normally sort through… and I don’t know if I was saving or hoarding this for some reason, I really don’t remember, but, oh well, it’s a chance for me to revisit this tea which I really LOVED back when it was released. I am hoping that the flavors did not fade too much over time, it was stored rather well, so here’s hoping!

It is still really flavorful. Maybe not quite as strong as it once was, but I can still taste the creamy, vanilla-y, nutty flavor of the classic ice cream flavor, as well as the black tea. A nice way to start my day.

Nik

I love butter pecan! Here’s hoping it makes a comeback one day. =)

I’m officially out of this now…it was good while it lasted. Today – since my taste buds are still off – all I can tell you is that it tasted like a VERY strong Black Tea. I know it’s flavored but because I’m sick I can’t really pick up on the actual flavor.

Hope you feel better soon.

This is a mild f.avored tea but somehow delightful…

Tonight I tried this with a touch of creamer and a dab or Almond Milk and a pinch of sweetener and I let it all steep together for a very long time. What I tasted was closer to maple syrup but still yummy! I was supposed to have Organic Honeybush Apple Tea by Leaf Spa but I decided on this. Honesty, I made it earlier today but I am certain I made it wrong so I I’ll try again tomorrow before reviewing.

Another tea I bought way back when but never even got to open before life intervened. The BF was very interested in it this morning, so I opened up the packet.

Wow. The dry leaf smells just like the ice cream tastes-sweet and nutty and buttery, and a good bit of that smell carries over into the steeped tea. The flavor is really true to its name, too. In judging teas like this, I give lots of points for trueness to the name. But it’s clearly tea as well, with a black base that plays nicely. Every now and then it comes to the fore but just enough to wave hello.

What I like best about this is that before I tried it, I thought it would probably need to be sweetened or to have milk added to make the flavor taste like what’s in the ice cream. BUT NO! It’s lovely and sweet enough as is, sans any additional caloric content. (For me, anyway. The kids took a sip and said “needs sugar.”)

Of course, those who snooze lose in the 52 teas game, and this is no longer available. I will have to husband my supply.

Very mild tasting tea. Well so is butter pecan ice cream. The vanilla is very subtle. Pecan flavor is not bitter. W/sugar and milk., just some comforting goodness.

Finishing the last of this delicious tea, for dessert.
This last bit tastes like pure pecan pralines.
Buttery, caramelized brown sugar, pecans and brisk, malty black tea—such a yummy combo.

Yay! My order from Ms. Rachel at IHeartTeas arrived today!!!! I had a very late night last night and this delicious Butter Pecan black tea is the perfect afternoon pick-me-up.

Butter Pecan is one of my all time favorite ice cream flavors. One whiff of this tea straight out if the bag makes me weak in the knees! At first sip the black tea was a little overpowering, but after I let the tea cool a bit the butter pecan flavor really developed. I added a little raw sugar and a splash of almond milk and WOW what a treat.

I’m so glad that I had a chance to try this delectable tea! Thank you Rachel for brining this one back :)

Sweet and nutty, this tea fulfills its promise. It is very good but does not pop quite as much as other 52teas have done. I want to go and eat the tea leaves, however. This impulse is unusual and indicates the nutty goodness of the tea.

I may or may not have put a just put a big honkin’ scoop of butter pecan ice cream into a nice steaming mug of this tea. Therefore, I may or may not be currently be suffering from butter pecan overload.
I’m not telling! ;-)

Thank you Meghann for giving me a sample of this tea to try.

I went for a rather light steep this first time and had it without milk. That seems to have become “standard operating procedure” for tasting a new black tea – having it steeped lightly and plain first and the next time steeping it stronger and adding some milk.

This tea came out nutty-tasting, intermingled with the smooth sweetness of vanilla which becomes more prominent as the tea get cooler. The flavour is a little faint, but that’s likely due to the steeping time, but what I can taste I’m liking.
