Tea of the Week for May 16, 2022!

A sweet, dessert-y tea for summer – this blend evokes memories of warm fruit cobblers & crisps that I used to enjoy as a kid. Sweet, fruity notes of cherry with notes of warm cinnamon, allspice & nutmeg. Delicious served warm as a latte, it also makes a really pleasing iced drink.

It’s naturally caffeine-free, organic, vegan, gluten-free, allergen-friendly & all natural.

When I first started drinking this tea I found it a bit thin tasting, but I decided to leave the drawstring sachet in my mug to see if I could squeeze more flavour out with a longer infusion and that worked. What started like a mild honeybush and allspice blend gradually got more fruity to the point where the cherry was eventually more like the sweet yet tart cherry filling in a crisp, pie or turnover. Not sure this is a favourite, but I think it’s nicely spiced and based on this cup it does eventually get to a point of being a more discernable cherry taste.

This one is mostly allspice with a hint of nutmeg, followed by a pastry note from the oats. I wish I were getting more cherry!

I saved the least-remembered ones for last… probably because I drank them in the wee hours while working overtime. I don’t remember this one at all.

This has a familiar flavor from another 52teas blend I remember enjoying, though I don’t remember which. I really don’t taste any cherry or fruitiness, but I get a nice sort of baked spice flavor. Really the strongest flavor I taste is the honeybush base, which I enjoy, but I wish the flavoring were stronger.

Sipdown! (50 | 147)

I think this one was from my random grab bag. Either way, it was tasty!

I love it when there are oats in a blend, they gives such a nice pastry flavor. Here they really sell the concept of a crisp, along with the gentle warm spicing and somewhat nutty honeybush. I do wish there was a bit more cherry. I can taste a little bit, but I would love more to really make it taste like a cherry crisp, instead of more of a coffeecake with hints of cherry.

Either way, tasty!
