drank White Peach by Adagio Teas
412 tasting notes

I’m not a huge fan. I’ve been enjoying white teas a little more lately, so I went looking for my Adagio white sampler today, and.. well, maybe I didn’t make this the way it should be. I’ll try steeping it longer next time.

I can taste the peach just fine, though it’s not overpowering, but I almost wish it were because I’m not impressed with the white tea base. I used 2 grams of tea for a 4oz pot, but it just doesn’t have the rich mouthfeel I’ve been getting from (say) LeafSpa’s Silver Needle or Rishi’s Snowbud. It has lasted for two steeps so far.

I got nothin for ya… I would normally suggest more leaf, but you used more than I do. Longer steeping time? I like my whites for no more than 3 min, but the extra 45 sec may do it good… but then again I like mine cooler as well. It’s a shame cuz I liked the 2 flavored whites I’ve tried and this sounds good.

If you like Adagio’s other flavored whites, you might like this too – I think I might just be picky about the base :/

I bought this because it sounded awesome, but I just can’t get into it. I don’t know much about white tea, though.

Some notes on ratings:

I’d have separate rating scales for tea types if that were possible (probably Black, Flavored Black, Darjeeling/Dark Oolong, White/Green/Light Oolong, and Herbal) because the flavors and quality markers are just too different. A flavored black rated 100 isn’t better than every oolong I’ve ever drunk, just delicious for a flavored black.

Ratings are a combination of my enjoyment and the perceived quality – I do often demote teas a few points for artificial flavorings, small quantity of steeps supported, or weakness of flavor (requiring extra leaf).

I pay less attention to the number than the order of my ratings; I don’t necessarily keep a stock of everything rated 80+, but if two breakfast blends are rated 82 and 84 I consistently enjoy the 84 more.

And in case it’s not obvious? I am not an expert. I don’t even know what I like until I taste it sometimes, but I’m ok with that :) I like learning to like new teas, as well as enjoying the comfort of familiar ones.
