White Peach

I think this is one of the few samples I bought from Adagio that I purchased on my last order, haha. So I made a pot of it because I was looking at peaches today but our season here is over so meh, tea it is.

This is a lot better than Adagio’s flavored blacks. I steeped it for maybe 90 seconds hoping to avoid any super strong flavoring (second usual problem). It’s still pretty strongly peach though.

I wish it was a bit more natural tasting. If I drink it right after I pour some form the pot, it’s very artificially peach.

It’s not terrible, but it could be better. I can kind of taste the white tea through the flavoring. But the flavoring, it’s just not that good! I probably don’t want it to be that good because the white tea itself doesn’t seem too good anyway. At least to me, it could be better.

This is growing on me a bit, especially since this was the last of the sample. Can’t decide whether to add this to my “to buy” list or hold off for a bit…

Anyway, nice to have this after a long day’s hike up to the very tippy top of Sharp Top Mountain at Peaks of Otter (once thought to be the tallest point in VA blah blah). It was exhausting to say the least. Short hike, a couple of hours, but pretty much all up hill.

Nice to come back and relax with this, I think with the shorter steep time I can taste the white base more, which is nice. The peach, while naturally flavored, came on a little strong the last time I had this. 3 minutes, whereas last time I did 4. We’ll see what the second steep brings…

Another from “Another Travelling Tea Box?!?!”

I’m underwhelmed by this one. The base is ok, light slightly buttery. The peach flavor is kind of off though. It kind of tastes like an over-ripe peach on the verge of being rotten. Yeah… Not my kind of peach tea.

I had popped this into the fridge to steep before I had tried Teavivre’s Peach Jasmine Dragon Pearls yesterday. I’m afraid it really has ruined all other peach for me!

While this isn’t the worst peach flavor I’ve come across, it definitely has that artificial edge to it. It’s very much a sweet peachy flavor with enough natural sweetness to keep the necessity for additives far from mind. I do think the base they use is pretty nice. It’s a little earthy, a little straw-y and contrasts the peach well. Overall, it makes a just-a-bit above meh cup for me.

not one i ever would have bought for for myself. i just don’t tend towards peach for the most part… but last night i figured instead of drinking a black or puerh immediately before bed, perhaps i should try something lighter in the caffeine department and i’d been putting off steeping this one up.

it was actually quite nice! you know the peach juice they sell at tim hortons and carnivals? it was alot like that, but with a not-fabricated-with-chemical-names-you-can’t-pronounce-along-with-red-dye-#5-and-yellow-dye-#83 taste! lol.

very juicy. pure peach. sincere. still not my thing, but nice to settle off to bed with.

I’m a little sad. Because of the bad weather here in Florida, I’m stuck at my boyfriend’s house for a few more days, and I’m far away from my house – where the majority of my tea samples are. Luckily, I had the forethought to bring this up with me.

I cold-brewed this, and it’s not too bad. The peach flavor is there, but not too prominent. Peach is a hit or miss flavor for me. It’s not overwhelming. I think sweetener would help bring out the peach flavor for this tea.

The second steeping, I thought, was maybe even better than the first. I wonder how the other flavored White Adagios compare.

My other white ginger tea option- again, thanks to Ricky. Kinda winging it. I only have 2.16g, but I still made a 6oz cup. Added 1.12g of ginger root. I don’t have the original tin as a reference, but I’ve been warned about outrageous steeping time suggestions w/ Adagio whites so I went w/ 3min. And I’m glad I did. Whoa! Holy liquor! So much darker than I expected. So is the aroma. It smells distinctly of true tea w/ a hint of peach, but it bites my nose as well which assures me that inspite of the strong tea, the ginger won’t be drowned out. As expected, it’s a very strong white tea. A bit of peach (wish there was more), and a bite of ginger. This is definitely not a “wine cooler tea”. (Some guys give wine coolers a bad rap for being fruity and sissy). Strong, yet sweet. Think Southern Comfort. I’ll probably buy a sample tin of this.

Well, that’s odd. I tried the Gemini blend (White Monkey, White Peony, and White Peach) which smelled strongly like sweet peach, and then opened my tin of regular White Peach today, and the peach smell is totally different from the peach smell of Gemini. This smells like delicious, fresh peaches, whereas the Gemini blend smells exactly like those peachy-o’s peach ring gummies. Two very different but definitely peachy flavors.

The taste? Well, it’s light and peachy, and completely different from the Gemini. Instead of an almost-overbearing sweet cloud, the peach in this tea is light, fresh, and better “blended”. By blended, I mean that the peach doesn’t just come in at the tail of the sip, like in Gemini—it’s there throughout the sip. There’s this weird sense of foreboding I get when I drink the Gemini, because I’m end up thinking too much and always notice when that peach cloud sneaks in. With the White Peach, it’s always there. It also has this interesting, “juicy”, refreshing, thirst-quenching quality that is really appealing. Because they’re so different, I can’t say I prefer one over the other. I think if I’m in the mood for refreshment, I’d reach for this one, and if I’m in the mood for sugar, I’d go for the other.

I am out of half & half, so my morning latte is unattainable. So I went rummaging through my stash, and dug up this sample. There was just enough for a small pot, so I am finishing it off. Yay, stashdown!

The tea itself was pretty light this morning, and actually pretty good. Not astringent, mild on both the vegetal tones and the peach isn’t too artificial. I was much more careful with my water temp this morning, so I think it brewed up pretty optimally.

I doubt I will ever order more of this, but I would like to try a few other white teas.

I’m not a huge fan. I’ve been enjoying white teas a little more lately, so I went looking for my Adagio white sampler today, and.. well, maybe I didn’t make this the way it should be. I’ll try steeping it longer next time.

I can taste the peach just fine, though it’s not overpowering, but I almost wish it were because I’m not impressed with the white tea base. I used 2 grams of tea for a 4oz pot, but it just doesn’t have the rich mouthfeel I’ve been getting from (say) LeafSpa’s Silver Needle or Rishi’s Snowbud. It has lasted for two steeps so far.
