2170 Tasting Notes
I don’t love this one as much as I thought I would. I thought it might be malty and strong, but it’s a bit thin and mineral-like in flavor. I don’t dislike it, but it’s not as good to me as yesterday’s Lemon Kandy.
Flavors: Mineral
Preparation
I am really enjoying today’s tea. It does have a bit of a bitter edge, but it’s tamed some by a little honey and cream. It was too much for me straight/plain. I thought it might be too much lemon for me, but it’s really a nice amount. I’m not usually one to drink iced tea with lemon, so I wasn’t sure how much I would enjoy it hot. Turns out I’m a fan!
Second Steep
6 ounces water + 212 degrees + 5 minutes
Steeped a second time, same parameters. Equally as good as the first cup, no loss of flavor or strength. I would have tried for a third but it was getting late in the day and I needed to give up the caffeine for the evening.
Flavors: Bitter, Lemon
Preparation
I made this into a latte. Chamomile isn’t my favorite flavor on its own, but I like it better this way. I was hoping to at least get some of the rose flavor, but I don’t taste that or the mint. Only the chamomile. It’s not great, but it’s making me sleepy right before bed so I’ll take it. I’ve been having trouble sleeping lately, so maybe this is just what I needed tonight.
Flavors: Bitter
Preparation
It’s National Kiss a Ginger Day! So a ginger tea it is. :)
I opted for a chai I bought recently but haven’t yet tried. The primary flavor/scent isn’t the ginger, even though that is the second ingredient. Cinnamon stands out above all else, and unfortunately it’s the red hot candy cinnamon that I don’t like. Even with the large pieces of cardamom in the mix, I just don’t taste much else besides the cinnamon.
Flavors: Cinnamon
Preparation
I didn’t have any tea over the weekend, so I missed National Apricot Day on Saturday. Making up for it with this older tea today. I’m guessing because it’s older, the flavor has diminished some. It’s vaguely fruity. The description says full-bodied but it’s actually very light. It reminds me of green tea. I still have quite a few pearls left so next time I may try four pearls instead of two. Bummer I couldn’t get any apricot for Apricot Day.
Flavors: Fruity
Preparation
The instructions on the bag recommend steeping one tablespoon per six ounces of water. This seemed like a lot, so I cut it back. It was still bitter so I added some extra honey to tame it a bit. This has made it much more palatable, even enjoyable.
