drank Masala Chai by Samovar

Drank a big, 16 ounce mug of this with some honey and milk, courtesy of a good friend. It was delicious and brought back good memories of visits to Samovar’s tea lounges.

Drinking the last of this sample from Terri. Thanks, again, Terri. This was super tasty. And I followed the instructions to the letter, regarding the playing of opera in the background, while the tea is brewing.

Yesterday’s two cups were accompanied by “Faust” and “La Boheme,” respectively. Today’s cup is accompanied by “Le nozze di Figaro.”

Got so caught-up in the music that I forgot to take the infuser out of the tea until eight minutes into the brew.

Thanks to Terri HarpLady for this sample! I really enjoyed it.

An excerpt from my full review:
“The aromas of mixed Ceylon and Assam are touched by very gentle citrus. Truly, the smell of this infused tea does not remind me of Earl Grey in my experience. When I start sipping No. 55, the complexity of this not-Earl Grey surprises me. I say it is complex due to the different flavors, which I notice as separate but cohesive. It is at this point that I ‘lose myself’ in thoughts and tea. When my mind returns to the present, half of the mug of tea has been consumed – a sure sign of enjoyment.”

What a lot of bergamot. (Just go ahead and pronounce “bergamot” as though it has a hard “t” on the end…)

What you got, did it hit the spot…or perhaps not? (Sorry, couldn’t resist.)

Truly this tea did, and in my drawer I hid…some bags for a future bid.

Years ago, I had a source for quite a few of the offerings from Lindsay’s Teas. That source eventually raised their prices beyond what was acceptable, and I found other places from which to get my tea fix.
Fast forward to now, living in a new area. A cafe that is on my way to work – but into which I had never stopped – finally presents an opportunity for me to visit. In that visit, I purchase this delightful blend and try another (Russian Caravan with Vanilla).
I am quite glad for the rediscovery.

After quite a few cups of this, today, my sample is finished. Not a bad tea – makes an enjoyable cuppa.

Drinking the last of this blend and finally writing a review. Many thanks to my coworker, who brought this from his trip to Hawaii!

“…I must say that I am incredibly pleased that this tea does not taste entirely of fruit and vanilla.
“…the flavors themselves blend quite well! I get a lot of coconut and pineapple to accompany the taste of the black tea. Then, the vanilla smooths the other flavors and provides a pleasant aftertaste. "

Bio

“I love trading tea and trying new teas. My favourites are oolong (mainly Chinese) and pu’erh.
Will gladly talk all day about tea.”

The above was my bio when I joined five years ago, and I felt it needed to be updated. I still love pu’erh, though I have begun to take preference toward cooked, shou. Oolongs are certainly still a go-to tea for me, but I have expanded my horizons to begin including greens and blacks based upon the weather and how I am feeling.

Still more than glad to talk about tea – anytime, anywhere, anyplace.
Additionally, if fountain pens, books, music, or computers are on the discussion list…

My ratings, this “personal enjoyment scale” about which I talk, are just that – based on how much I enjoyed the tea. I might have enjoyed it immensely, yet do not keep it stocked for various reasons. On the flip side, I have a few teas that are “good” but not “great,” which I keep stocked for various reasons.
