Tea! Just…gimme.
But seriously, as delicious as this tea is, right now I am just looking for the stimulant to keep my eyes open.

Four cups later, I am still brewing this, over and over. New leaves, each time.

“Three minutes was a very sufficient length of time, as the tea is full without any astringency of which to speak!

“The aftertaste is pleasant, clean, yet still full, and it lingers in the mouth…I believe that the freshness of the leaves adds a lot to the experience, and I highly recommend trying this one sooner, rather than later.”

With the teapot making its return to my desk at my office, this tea is being brewed in large quantities, this morning.

drank Dark Beauty by Mandala Tea
1812 tasting notes

In some respects, I may have been a bit too enthused about working from home, today, due to allergies, because it gave me a chance to finally brew a pot of Dark Beauty, using MzPriss’s recipe!

Surprisingly, it is not as dark as I expected. Hmm, I wonder why…I did all the steep times and amounts to the letter. Perhaps my water was too long off boil, before beginning the Special Dark steep.

But it is tasty! The thickness of the tea is awesome, and if a flavor can be described as “dark,” this would be. Even better that it seems incapable of being oversteeped! I may extend the steep time for my next pot.

Bio

“I love trading tea and trying new teas. My favourites are oolong (mainly Chinese) and pu’erh.
Will gladly talk all day about tea.”

The above was my bio when I joined five years ago, and I felt it needed to be updated. I still love pu’erh, though I have begun to take preference toward cooked, shou. Oolongs are certainly still a go-to tea for me, but I have expanded my horizons to begin including greens and blacks based upon the weather and how I am feeling.

Still more than glad to talk about tea – anytime, anywhere, anyplace.
Additionally, if fountain pens, books, music, or computers are on the discussion list…

My ratings, this “personal enjoyment scale” about which I talk, are just that – based on how much I enjoyed the tea. I might have enjoyed it immensely, yet do not keep it stocked for various reasons. On the flip side, I have a few teas that are “good” but not “great,” which I keep stocked for various reasons.
