Drank at work – from my office tea stash.
I wonder if there’s anyone here on Steepster who’s been laid off because of the Corona outbreak? I talked about it a little yesterday, but I’m having a hard time with the guilt of still working when most DT staff have been laid off & in talking to my coworkers/friends at DT on both a store and head office level it seems REALLY mixed whether people are relieved to have been laid off (for some of the reasons I brought up yesterday) or absolutely seething – it would be good to hear some opinions from people in similar situations at other companies?
This was good though – sweet and melony, with a distinct cantaloupe note and cooling finish. I’m really focusing on teas that make me feel good and less stressed when I drink them right now; I’ve felt so high strung/anxious for days now. I know that we’re all struggling with what’s happening in the world right now and all of the ripple effects of that, and that just adds to my feeling of guilt about having such a rough time right now…
Friendly reminder that I do not numerically rate DAVIDsTEA blends as I’m currently employed there and it would be an obvious conflict of interest. Any blends you see with numerical ratings were rated prior to my employment there. These reviews are a reflection of my personal thoughts and feelings regarding the teas, and not the company’s.

I am not laid off; my workplace is ‘essential’ so we’re still open though with limited hours to the public. I’d argue the only essential services we provide are done so in two of the three departments I work in. Are your coworkers lay-offs financially covered by any entity?
The majority – though sadly not everyone – should quality for EI in the interim, and Canada has changed the waiting period for EI so that everyone is able to apply immediately. I think that’s what you mean?
Kind of laid off. But as a student, there is still something to do. At home. Self-study. As for my inventory checks – I am still worker, but there are almost none – because the maximum of people in one place is 30. That said – we can do only small shops, because if you count people doing the check + some people from our company + some people from the customer – you get over 30 very fast. So, not much opinions to work :/
I’m sure its hard not to feel guilty, but here is a chance to pay it forward. You can keep in touch with your co-workers and see if they need tea or anything else. Just a text or email may brighten someone’s day. I’ve been sending cheesy jokes to my friends, not sure if it actually helps…
As a disabled person, my income hasn’t been affected. My parents, however, both had part-time jobs that are shut down, and a ton of money in the stock market that just dissolved. They aren’t really hurting right now, they had a large cushion, but I fear that if the stock market doesn’t stop eating itself they will be in some long term trouble.

Please no guilt, Ros! Like you say, it’s the entire world right now. If anything, you are taking risk going to work every day. Please be safe!
