drank Rose Tea by Lupicia

I love this tea! I love rose anything: Rose macarons, Rose water ice cream, rose lemonade, you name it.

This is basically warm rose water with a some black tea in it. The “leaves” consist of mostly dried rose petals and the rose to black tea ratio is larger than what is pictured on steepster.

If you only want a hint of rose this tea is not for you.

drank Neptune by Lupicia

Neptune is good, but not my favorite. It has a light fruity and honey like flavor over a black tea base. There’s some astringency. Probably wouldn’t seek it out, but if someone gave it to me, I wouldn’t opt out.

drank Chocolate Rose by Tea Forte
59 tasting notes

Steepster rating is after adding sugar and milk. Note that Tea Forte recommends this tea with milk.

I picked up a Tea Forte black roasted teas assortment box awhile ago and now I’m just trying to finish it off. The Chocolate Rose is not so great without milk and sugar (I wouldn’t rate it above a 33).

After 5 minutes of steeping (maximum recommended by tea forte), the flavor of chocolate isn’t really detectable nor is the rose.. it’s just a strange synthetic flavor.

I added sugar and milk to see if this would help and it did help a great deal. The tea became mild, and I was able to taste more of the chocolate, and something that tasted floral (although I wouldn’t go as far as to say I could identify it as rose).

drank Thé au Lait by Lupicia

A good brisk black tea. Not sure of the base, but it did remind of a good English style tea. It wasn’t so bold that it needed milk and sugar, but I thought it did benefit from it. Definitely a tea that works both ways.

Light astringency and shorter steeping time is a plus.

drank Rosé Royal by Lupicia

I brewed this tea and ended up not paying attention to it at all. Friend ended up calling with great news, and I ended up mindlessly sipping while chatting a=(
So this review is mainly for my own notes when I get indecisive at the Lupicia boutique

I am partial to any tea that sounds very feminine. The tea was light and did call into mind a rose wine and some berry fruitiness. I remember it being a little tart (something I usually avoid in my teas) but not so much that it was off putting.

The 78 review is based on drinking this cold.

I brewed this tea in boiling water. I didn’t think of much of it when hot – thought it was nice but it wasn’t special. It had a apple flavoring that something felt off. With all flavored teas that I feel “meh” about, I stuck in the fridge to get an idea of how it would taste if I cold brewed it the next time….and it was MUCH better! It was quite tasty. The cold temperature gave it the crispness that I felt was lacking. Everything just seemed to make more sense on my palate.

drank Sencha "Nara" by Lupicia

I’m trying to try all my Sencha samples back to back. I drank this last night. While I liked it, it’s my least favorite. I would say that this tea is like a nice, high-quality basic. It’s almost buttery in texture, not very grassy, not very bitter.

I prefer my higher end teas with a little flourish. If I were to buy a Sencha from Lupicia, I would stick to Sencha Omaesama or Sencha Tanegashima.

drank Rooibos Lemon by Lupicia

Today was particularly tiring, so I was intrigued by Lupicia’s claim that this tea would “freshen (me) up”. However, when I got a whiff of the dry tea, I thought I was in for some heavy duty medicinal tea. While the tea still smelled medicinal when steeped ( I did the recommended minimum of 3 mins), it wasn’t medicinal in taste at all.. It was actually kind of sweet, like a lemon candy.

I’m not 100% sure if I’d buy it, but I wouldn’t opt out of it either. Oh, and for the record, I did feel a little freshened up after finishing this cup of tea =)
