Today was particularly tiring, so I was intrigued by Lupicia’s claim that this tea would “freshen (me) up”. However, when I got a whiff of the dry tea, I thought I was in for some heavy duty medicinal tea. While the tea still smelled medicinal when steeped ( I did the recommended minimum of 3 mins), it wasn’t medicinal in taste at all.. It was actually kind of sweet, like a lemon candy.

I’m not 100% sure if I’d buy it, but I wouldn’t opt out of it either. Oh, and for the record, I did feel a little freshened up after finishing this cup of tea =)

Well, it’s lemon. And it’s rooibos. The lemon is more sweet than sharp – I think Inkling had it right when she compared the flavor to a lemon drop. This is a perfectly decent cup, but there’s no wow factor. Of all the teas in my happy bag that I’ve tried so far, this is my least favorite. Also, sipdown!

Finally sampling the last tea from my Lupicia Happy Bag! Lemon is not my favorite tea flavor and I’m also not a big fan of red rooibos, so I really wasn’t expecting to like this one. But it was better than I expected! The base isn’t overly woody or medicinal and the lemon flavor has a nice sweetness to it that reminds me of a lemon drop candy. I still don’t think this is something I would re-purchase, but I’ll happily drink the rest of my sample tin!

This is another tea from the set of 3 mini-tins I ordered from Lupicia (partially for the adorable tins!). This one is my favorite of the three, it has a cute little reindeer on the front (http://instagram.com/p/wcKGgCGgPz/). I was really surprised that there wasn’t an entry for this on Steepster, since Lupicia is pretty well known for their flavored teas. It’s a red rooibos base, and I can see pieces of citrus peel and some kind of crushed leaves – I assume lemon balm or something similar. It smells extremely medicinal, which is scary. It smells exactly like a lemon-flavored throat lozenge.

The steeped tea still smells a little bit medicinal, but it’s not as bad as it was dry. Thankfully, it doesn’t taste medicinal. This is a pretty tasty basic lemon tea – it doesn’t have any other supporting flavors. The lemon is sweet and not overly sharp, and it reminds me of lemon drop candies. Pretty good, I’ll easily get through my 5 sachets. :)
