I love both elderflower and chamomile, so I thought this would be a clear winner.

Steeping the sachet for 4 minutes in 150 ml of boiling water results in a medium strength, well balanced tea. I found the tea to be predominately chamomile and peppermint with a subtle floral element to balance things out.

While the tea was nice, I find that I prefer chamomile/lavender blends.

drank Masculin by Lupicia

It was pouring earlier this afternoon but felt myself feeling in the need of a pick me up. However, having consumed both matcha and coffee earlier in the morning, I was looking for something warm and non caffeinated to give me a little boost.

I rifled through my Book of Tea samples and came across Masculin which seemed to fit the bill. However, upon reading that it was an herbal blend with Roobios, I expected the worst. The strong fragrance that wafted from the teabag wasn’t promising either. But I had been pleasantly surprised before, so I went for it. I set my pot to boil and steeped as instructed in 5 oz of water for 2 minutes.

The flavor is unique. There’s a zing and heat from the ginger, ginseng and cinnamon but it didn’t taste medicinal, in fact it was a tad sweet. I actually would not recommend steeping for more than 3 minutes (in a 1/2 cup of water). It would be far too strong at that point. There is a tiny energy boost but it’s mostly a sensory reaction. My taste buds are energized but I can still feel my eyes drooping and my body is still longing for a nap.

Overall I’d give this 3.5 out of 5 stars. I’d welcome receiving it as a sample again, but don’t enjoy it enough to spend money on it.

I received a sample satchel via Taste the World and decided to give it a try today.

I’m not a fan of liquorice but curiosity got the best of me today and I gave it a whirl. The tea is rather sweet, and the peppermint was a nice touch, but I couldn’t finish the cup.

Received two bags from friends in the Netherlands. I have not been a fan of holiday teas in the past, but this was delicious! The fruit and spice were perfectly balanced to my preferences and I used up both bag immediately.

drank Maple Sugar Shack by Tease

I received this tea as part of my Taste The World subscription box. Based off the name of this tea, I was skeptical that I would like it as I’m not the biggest maple syrup fan.

BUT, this tea is delicious. After black tea, safflower petals and rose petals are the primary flavors with a touch of maple sweetness at the very end. The tea is very well balanced with a smooth creamy flavor with only a touch of sweetness. Tastes great straight or with a splash of milk.

First off Extraordinary Desserts definitely knows how to make wonderful teas!

According to their website, Ginza Girl is “A Japanese inspired blend of fresh-picked cherries, pink peppercorns, and a touch of rosemary. Stimulating and sassy!”

It’s a black tea base and you can definitely taste each of the elements described above. I find the tea to be very refreshing and bright.

I also like that it tastes great steeped for both shorter and longer periods of time. My preference for this tea is to steep lightly and drink plain.

Received a sampler box of Chaidim’s lemongrass teas with my subscription to Try the World box.

An herbal lemongrass tea is not something that sounds appealing to me, but I’m so glad that I gave it a shot! After steeping in hot water for 5 minutes (per box instructions), I was left with a light, refreshing yet calming brew.

I am so happy to have tried this tea! The smokey flavor is well balanced and astringency is minimal. I expected this to be a lot drier. This is the first smokey tea I’ve tried, but I am excited to try a larger variety!
