57 Tasting Notes
Was feeling like making myself a nice big pot of tea when I got home tonight. I felt like something sweet, but not with too much caffeine (i.e not black tea). I do have to get up early tomorrow and I have a long day, even if caffeine doesn’t really affect me, I didn’t want to take any chances. So I dug way back to the back of my tea cupboard and found this. I remember being super excited to try it from last year’s winter collection and just kind of thought it was okay. This time I added a bit of milk and sugar to it, and I’m enjoying it. It’s subtle, chocolatey and creamy. I even bumped up the score a bit!
A friend of mine picked up a 25g bag of this while we were in the store today. I mentioned being curious to try it and she gave me a little to sample. I accidentally steeped it far too long, and there was actually quite a bit of tea in my filter so I thought the taste would be stronger.. uh, wrong. My first sip I got absolutely nothing, except a very subtle mintyness. So I thought I’d stir in a little agave, and after that I got a bit more of the nuttiness I was hoping for, but it’s still pretty bland. It does smell nice though. I still have about 3/4s of my cup left, I’ll finish it, but I’m quite glad I didn’t purchase any.
Went into the store today and found they two more 25g bags laying around and were 2 for $5! Was so happy about that, considering last time I went they were sold out. I don’t even care that it’s pumpkin, I’ll drink this stuff all year round.
I know right! Especially considering it’s normally $7.50 for 50g. My store usually has random little 25g bags on for 2 for $5. Plus I get a 10% discount for working in the mall, so it ended up being around $4.50 for the 50g. :) If they had more I would have gotten them.
That is amazing!! Ceylon Star was on sale for the 2/$5 price and I had to resist the urge to buy it seeing as I have 25 g coming and I don’t think it is the most amazing tea in the world that I would want that much of it
Another tea that I was feeling kind of meh about. I’ve been on a latte kick lately, so I got this one as a latte as well. By the smell I thought at first it might taste a little like my beloved Love Tea #7, but fell short and ended with a really weird aftertaste which I think was supposed to be the chili, but with no spice. Disappointed again!
Having this tonight with a bit of milk and a spoonful of brown sugar. Very relaxing! I never used to be a rooibos fan but I’ve been liking them more and more lately.
Wow.. extremely disappointed. I got this as a latte today and I had high hopes. Though it definitely fell short. First sip was good, and then came that awful liquorice aftertaste! Ew. I don’t think I’ve ever disliked a tea this much, and that’s saying something. I actually bumped up my score for Gingerbread just because it was quite good comparatively.
When I had this hot it was just bad and then it cooled a bit and I got a hint of the chocolate hazelnut taste they were aiming for but once it got cold it tasted quite bad so I think this will be going into my swap box
It was really bad hot, but I almost found it worse once it started to cool down! I had to toss it without finishing it. :( I’m really glad I didn’t buy any.
YAY!!! This really does make an awesome latte!! I am in love with my milk frother too. Definitely worth the price.
