What a complex tea! Black it is delightful, if a tad bit strong for me to be drinking at 7 at night. From the first sniff of the dry leaves I wanted to add cinnamon, but I resisted (at first). Once I’d sipped down some room from my overly full cup, I added some sugar. And this is when the tea got really complex, since even though the sugar had melted and been well stirred, my sip was two very distinct flavours of sugar and the black tea, untouched. Such a weird experience, and not really pleasant, so I added some milk. And again, I now had sweet milk and black tea. Not yet giving up, I sprinkled the top with that cinnamon that had been calling to me.

Voila! What an amazing cup of tea, now! Next time I may add a bit of cinnamon stick in the brewing and see what that does!

Had this one brewed in store for me. After reading all the reviews I had high expectations for this milk oolong, having only ever had one other before. Sadly in comparison this tea seemed almost flavourless. There was a definite milkiness to it, but compared to the one I have here from the Tea Haus, David’s can’t compare. Sorry David, for once I’m going with someone else for my crack supply.

My best-tea friend loathes this tea, so I have avoided it for over a year. But, it’s on the wall so try it I am. And E, much as I love you, you’re wrong on this one, it doesn’t suck horridly.

I like orange flavoured teas, and this is definitely a unique flavour. The earthyness of the pu’erh, however, has me unable to decide if I actually like it, or if I just like the notes in it. Even as I write this review and keep sipping trying to figure it out my mind continues to shift. I love the first flirts of orange flavour, and the last, but that middle part I’m still undecided on. This tea is confusing!

drank Coco Chai Rooibos by DAVIDsTEA

Finished this one up today after being underwhelmed with Pure Chai. Still find that I’m not a huge fan of this one on it’s own, being too coconutty for me. I do love it in a latte with half this and half just about any other chai. It mellows it out to perfection and puts a smile on my face that way!

Dry, omg I adored the smell of this one. I’m a sucker for all things apple and cinnamon and couldn’t wait to try it. I wasn’t the biggest fan of mom’s apple pie, and this had potential!

Sadly, despite it being a step up from MAP, it still wasn’t what I was hoping for after the brewing. I felt like it wanted to be a complex flavour and instead was a watered down forever nuts brewed in apple juice. It was like wanting and expecting a slice of fresh hot apple pie and getting . . . apple slices with cinnamon sprinkled on top. Good in and of itself, but such a let down after high hopes.

Not a bad tea, but not one I decided to stock up either. Farewell Hot Toboggan, I hope you find someone who loves you.

Oh yum! This one caught me by surprise, in the best of ways. I haven’t been a big Earl drinker, but I liked the smell of this one dry, so I brewed it up this afternoon. Black it was nice, with a hint of vanilla and an undercurrent of citrus. Curious, I added a bit of sugar and bam, there was the lemon, blending in really nicely with the vanilla and tea flavours. The tea itself isn’t too overpowering, allowing the flavours to play nicely with each other without anything being too strong or hiding.

I’m definitely going to be brewing this one up again.

drank Pure Chai by DAVIDsTEA

Didn’t expect to dislike a chai, but there you go. I found this one to smell amazing dry, all the spices jumping out and bidding my senses hello. I was excited to taste it, and expecting to love it I added my milk and a tiny bit of sugar.

I’m going to have to try it without and black, because how I prepared it, what a let down. The cinnamon became more cinnamon heart and less pure spice, which just always seems fake to me. More disappointing though was that after the first jolt of flavour, each sip became practically tasteless. Big swallows or small sips, it was always the same. Bam, flavour, and then poof, nothing. I’d never heard of tea having its own chaser before, but there it was, with no followup!

I’m going to give this one another chance, because, well, I did go straight to the milk and sugar. But I really do think that the other chais are going to stay my favourites.

drank Honey Bee by DAVIDsTEA

I grew up in farm country eating fresh honey, so I was really hopeful for this one. Honey flavoured tea? Without adding any sweetener? That would be nectar from the gods!

Sadly the flavour I got from it wasn’t honey. It is sweet, and I didn’t add anything to the tea, but what I got was almost a fake sweet flavour. Like those cheap dollarstore candies that attempt to taste like honey or caramel but instead are slightly off in an undefinable way and leave a weird powdered dry feeling in your mouth. The tea tasted, and acted, just like that for me. Even my cat when she tried to steal a sip of it didn’t like this one. My search for a honey tea continues.

Sipping this one as a latte tonight. Added some extra cinnamon to the milk before heating and frothing and it’s just the perfect tea for snuggling up and watching some horrid reality tv. Delicious in all the best ways! The cinnamon blends really well with the chai and rooibos flavours to make a sweeter chai than most standard ones are. I love this, especially at night, since I can just sip my tea rather than dig into my secret leftover chocolate stores!

drank Bravissimo by DAVIDsTEA

Doing a tasting note solely because I did taste in, and then proceeded to decide it wasn’t for me. One thing I’ve decided as I finish up the wall is that I am so not a fan of the licorice teas. That’s all I can taste in them, despite all the other ingredients. Not rating since it isn’t fair to the tea.

An avid tea addict in the GTA, Ontario, Canada. I’m always looking for new teas and new tea addicted friends!

My preference is loose leaf of all varieties, however the occasional bagged tea can come along and charm me. Flavoured or straight, there is a good chance that I will be falling in love.

My ratings system is based on the smiley faces above the ratings scale.

0-10 — This tea didn’t get past the initial sip process. I just couldn’t bring myself to drink more, I found it so horrible.

11-50 — It made it past first sips, but as I drank a bit more I realized I really wasn’t enjoying the tea, and would never drink it again.

51-60 — I probably made it through the cup, but won’t be trying another one.

61-69 — Either it’s a mystery tea and I can’t decide if I like it or not, or it is one that I felt was purely adequate.

70-85 — These are the teas that I appreciate and/or like. If they are falling in this area they are ones that I would definitely re-buy, however are not ones that I must always have on hand. The good, but not the amazing.

86-94 — These are the favourites. My cupboard feels empty if they aren’t inside.

95-100 — Tea perfection!
