drank Chai With Chocolate by 52teas

I don’t think I’ve ever been so sad to see the end of a sample. I’ve been drinking this over the last few days, almost always as a mid-morning tea. I’ve had a cold so I didn’t want to rate it until I could properly taste it. It is interesting that when I am drinking this tea it doesn’t necessarily knock my socks off, but yet I keep wanting more of it (what did you put in this tea Frank!).

I don’t normally like chai but I really like this. In the package, the tea has the scent of chocolate raisins. One brewed the tea is raisiny, chocolatey and has a fair amount of cinnamon flavor. It’s kind of like a mexican chocolate cupcake (esp when sweetened with agave nectar). I sure hope this is in the permanent collection because I am definitely going to need more of this (see reference to crack above).

BTW – there are thankfully no milk chocolate chips in this. I will have to verify with Frank that it is a typo and not just an oddity with my sample.

RE: Chocolate chips.

I apologize, but I keep changing my mind on the chocolate chip issue, and I think I’ve managed to confuse myself even.

A number of our customers say they want our teas to be more chocolate-y. So, I started adding chocolate chips. Then I hear from other customers who are vegan and don’t want the chocolate chips. Other customers are using fancy machines to infuse their tea and don’t like what the chocolate chips do to their machines.

I am fairly certain that we are going to eliminate the chocolate chips from our blends. But I will need time to update the labels and descriptions on our website and Steepster. In the meantime, please feel free to order and tell me, “No chocolate chips” on your order, and I will make sure there aren’t any. That should go for the Chai with Chocolate, the Chocolate Mint and the Chocolate Malt Honeybush from MySweetHonebush. I’m going to work on updating everything as soon as I can.
