Sheng/Shou TTB
Strong levels of astringency with wet tobacco notes. I don’t particularly like this tea right now, but it shows a lot of promise – it just needs to age for a few years more.

This is a very nice young sheng. Small amounts of astringency and flavorful notes of sweetness and grape skins. This will get much better with age, but it a pleasant drinker right now.

Very nice flavor from this jin xuan. Lightly roasty with buttery notes. I got distracted by work while drinking this, so my thoughts aren’t really all together right now!

Nice bright green leaf color and a wonderful oolong taste. Just a little too floral for me. Floral taste is orchid/hibiscus to me. I may have oversteeped it since I didn’t realize it was going to be floral. I probably would have had better results cutting 30 seconds off of the steep time.

Another steep of honeysuckle puerh from my work stash this week. It’s becoming my go-to work tea, since it’s easy and it’s in a cute little tin from Persimmon Tree. Great flavor and a nice everyday tea.

How honeysuckle is it?

kieblera5

it’s enough to notice, but not overly sweet.

Finished off this sample after it sitting in my tea drawer forever. It’s still really good, though I feel like I was able to discern more complex flavor this time after having tried so many teas and my palette expanded. Very nice light roast dongding

I’m really behind on tasting notes..
This is delicious, though not as delicious as the dragon spirit from Haiwan. Very smooth and creamy :)

This is a good one for sure.

+1 on the Dragon Spirit as well.

Brewed a cup of Green Caramel this morning. The dry leaf scent is sweet caramel and you can see the pieces of caramel mixed it. Brewed up, I was disappointed with the taste.. I felt that the rooibos taste came through much more than the caramel or green tea taste and threw off the balance.. This rates as a “meh..” on the taste-o-meter™.

Finally broke into this one! Very nice and light tea. Semi-floral and fruity, like crisp apples and maybe a pear note. Steeped it many times over the past two days. Definitely a good bargain :)

Cheri

I have one of these, too….sitting there waiting for me to get to it. I dug it out last weekend, but still haven’t broken into it. I should.

Another vanilla infused tea, another note about how too much vanilla can overpower the tea flavor.

I’m glad they chose a green tea as a base, since I couldn’t really taste the green tea. It seems that a more robust base would hold up to a strong flavor like this. I also really couldn’t taste any of the anise flavor that was supposed to be in there. Don’t get me wrong – I like the tea. I love vanilla. I just kinda wanted something more complex from this cup.

Learning more about tea every day.

Likes: Greens, whites, oolongs, blacks, and herbals! Just depends on the mood :)
Dislikes: Coconut, melon, chocolate, peach, cherry

I also collect antique teaware (Chinese and Japanese).

I’d love to try new types, varieties, etc. I’m still exploring pu-erh to make a complete decision whether to keep trying it or just count it as a loss.

I’d love to trade with anyone who likes something that I might have! I just have to get everything added to my cupboard first :)
