Wow, I can’t believe i’m the first steepster to review this tea! pressure pressure! LOL
No big deal. You know, just the first and everything. Haha.

I had actually intended on sampling a few other teas that had come in, but all of those intentions came to a grinding halt when I found that my Butiki order had arrived in my mailbox yesterday. I could smell the florals through the box! it was unbelievable.

So last night, I decided I’d have this in the morning. I know this’ll sound a wee nutty, but I actually had a hard time falling asleep because i was so excited to try this.
But as with all things, the morning came soon enough, and I brewed up a cup of this.
In the bag, the tea smelled exactly how it’s described: the rose scent is delicate and very true to an actual rose scent, but there’s an…I don’t want to say saltiness, but there’s something that sort of tempers the sweetness, and I can only assume that’s the champagne. It really does smell like a delicate pale pink rose has been tinged with fresh, bubbling champagne.
The smell as its brewing remains, although it certainly isn’t overpowering by any means. By that I mean that this tea would probably appeal to people who are floral lovers and also those who aren’t.
It’s similar to the cantaloupe and cream in its delicate, exquisite composition and I’m fairly sure I could detect the base tea, which was absolutely delicious. The tea isn’t as “glamourous” as the rose violet calendula, but I suspect it wasn’t intended to be so—instead, it has a quiet, subdued beauty that nevertheless commands your appreciation in a very breathtaking way. I could absolutely taste the rose and cream, and again, the champagne note only tempered it and prevented it from tipping into a full on rose, if that makes sense. That’s why I think many people will enjoy this tea, whether you’ve had luck with florals or not. I was actually worried by the champagne note when I first heard of this tea, because I’m typically not a fan of the stuff, but I should never have under-estimated Stacy’s ability to marry the best of all scents/tastes into one amazing composition.
Bottom line: I can’t wait to have more of this, and intend on having a cup as soon as I go home today! Stacy, this isn’t a limited edition, right? right? right?
Oh god, it’s happening again. I’m craving it and I just finished a huge mug of it. It’s ok. Eight hours and it’s all mine again!

Well, it’s been slightly over six months since I’ve joined steepster, and I can’t say enough wonderful things about this community. Like many of you, I began my foray into the world of loose-leaf tea by discovering David’s Tea, and although I’ve ventured out and have discovered many other companies that I’m extremely fond of, there are still many of David’s teas that I hold close to my heart and I will always appreciate it as a starting point for my journey.

As for my preferences, I tend to prefer bold black tea, flavoured and unflavoured alike, and I almost always take my blacks with cream and sugar. This isn’t to say that I don’t enjoy a good, flavoured white though, and I’m slowly making my way through the incredibly confusing world of oolongs and greens. I am also not a fan of rooibos, although I am starting to suspect green rooibos may be ok, but you know how it is: when you’ve decided you detest a certain ingredient, you’ll notice it everywhere—perhaps even where it doesn’t exist!

Things other than tea: I’m engaged to be married to my best friend, and feel like the richest woman on the planet because of it. I am also a veracious reader, and I also happen to have an obsession with fragrances, and have amassed quite a collection, although it pales in comparison to some collections out there! As a result of this obsession, I also follow several fragrance blogs, and am always up for a chat about scent. I’m also almost completely blind, and this does indeed mean that I come complete with a guide dog, who unlike me, hales from the sunny California campus of Guide dogs for the Blind. I think I’ve rambled on long enough, but if there’s anything you’d like to know or if you just feel like chatting to someone, please don’t hesitate to send me a message.
