My husband recently went on a business trip to Montreal and bought me 8 different bags of 25grams of tea. The majority of the holiday collection and some other bits recommended by the sales associate (he spoils me!). I was really excited about this one but also a bit nervous.

The first steep, I did 4 minutes and added sweetener. There was a slightly bitter taste to it but still enjoyable.

The second steep, I prefer. I did 5 minutes and once again added sweetener. It’s not the big punch of flavor from the first steep but is kind of like liquified toffifay, though obviously a much lighter flavor and not the yummy candy mouthful that you get with the real thing.

I’m going to attempt a third steep in a bit but I quite like this! I wonder if any of the holiday collection will make its way into the permanent line… one can hope.

I picked some of this up for the Secret Pumpkin and when I was portioning it out, each time I got a whiff of it, I thought “I’ve got to try that” but due to the Secret Pumpkin, I also managed to receive quite a bit more samples than I’m used to having at any one time (no complaints) and never got around to trying it. Till tonight that is…

Well, unlike the Davidstea Pumpkin Chai, this doesn’t taste nearly as flavorful as it smells, but it’s a similar taste profile and pretty yummy. I used 2.5 teaspoons in my 16oz steeping mug and added sweetener. I think next time I’ll try steeping for a few less minutes (I did the full 5 and I think the black tea has drowned out the flavor a little). Otherwise, tasty, just wish it tasted the way it smells!!!

This is one of those teas that makes me want to order a milk frother immediately. It tastes great with and without milk, BUT the spice mix reminds me of the chai latte that I used to get at a coffee shop where I want to school and it was so delicious and I want to remake it ASAP.

It’s possible that it tastes even better because of the amazing price I paid at HomeGoods but it is a nice chai tea nonetheless.

Why did I only pick up 35grams of this?! This is so delicious. It is creamy and almost rich in a way. It has just enough spice but it doesn’t overpower the pumpkin taste. I’m disappointed in myself that I tried this after it was already gone from the website! Must…get…more

Both steeps are delicious, but the 2nd is a little spicier and a bit less creamy.

Sipdown-ed the last of this yesterday evening. I did a resteep with the leaves as well. Cinnamon-y goodness.

(blah blah Della Terra sale – yup I get sucked in a lot)

Ever since the weather got colder, I have been really into cinnamon. Maybe it was the little push from my Secret Pumpkin with a whole bunch of cinnamon teas but something about it has been extra comforting. Every night I come home, I make at least a mug of tea. Tonight I started out with Della Terra Red Velvet Delight Rooibos (it’s ok) and then I decided to open this one. It smells very similar to Cinnamon Crackle though with a rooibos base.

As far as tasting is concerned, it’s slightly less fiery than the Cinnamon Crackle, BUT, it does pack a bit of a punch. I can feel it on the roof of my mouth. It tastes, similarly to CC like big red gum or sweet red hots. Again, I don’t know why I’m addicted to all things spicy at the moment but this sure is hitting the spot.

Thanks to Lala (my Secret Pumpkin for Round 1) for this sample. This was pretty tasty but nothing special. There’s a hint of spice but it’s not overpowering. I managed 2 steepings out of 2 tsp in my 16oz steeping mug. I get a hint of a fruit flavor (dare I say pumpkin?) at the end of the sip which is quite pleasant.

I’m horribly indecisive, which explains my initial ho-hum review and the fact that I finished off my 1oz bag of this tonight. I managed to get 3 fullish teaspoons, which means it will last 2 steeps, but it’s a bit strange. I still think this doesn’t taste much like pineapple but something about it has been satisfying. Sipdown!

Hmm I’m pretty sure now I know Lala was my secret pumpkin!

In any case, maybe it’s my cold, or maybe I didn’t steep long enough, but this is a very light spice. I’m not detecting any pumpkin. I added a touch of sweetener. It’s not bad by any means but I’m not sure I’d go out of my way to purchase.

Ha ha. Not too hard to tell it was me, hey?

Well when the only other review was from you, it was a good clue!

Profile

Bio

I recently discovered loose leaf tea and am already addicted (much to my husband’s dismay)! I prefer fruity teas iced and savory teas hot. Looking forward to drinking and chatting.

Some likes/dislikes I’ve been noticing:

Likes:
Pineapple
Jasmine
Fruity White Teas
lighters Blacks
Most Oolongs (especially greener varieties)
dessert teas
tisanes iced that don’t require added sweetener

Dislikes:
Spicy flavors unless in chai
astringent black teas
heavy ginger teas
teas with licorice (as primary ingredients – somehow I like some where the licorice is in the back drop)
heavily oxidized oolongs

For my own reference, I’m only placing “full size” teas in my cupboard.
