There was a nice roasted brown rice scent. When looking at the leaves you could see the brown rice as well as little bits of popped popcorn. I used 4 tsps for 3 cups of water. Next time I will add one more tsp of tea.

When brewed the liquid was light yellow and there was a light brown rice scent. I taste the brown rice and little bit of the popcorn. When taking a drink there is a light after taste with kind of an astringent lingering flavor.

Overall I like this tea. When I go to a sushi bar I always have the tea and this tea just brings me there.

drank Golden Honey Dew by Lupicia
28 tasting notes

During a trip to San Francisco I came across Lupicia in the mall. I love tea so I spent a long time smelling and looking at all the tea. I heard someone talking about this tea so I asked about it. The sales girl made me a tester and it was great. I bought some right there. The HoneyDew fragrance is great and it tastes just the same. It’s not overpowering just a nice taste. If I didn’t have to order it I would buy it again and make ice tea with it.

I normally drink black tea but decided to give this one a try. I used 1tsp/6oz water. I steeped for 2 1/2 min to make it a little stronger and it paid off. I smell the green tea scent over the Jasmine. The flavor is a little nutty and earthy.

I really like this one and would definitely get it again.

drank Afternoon Delight by Souvia

When I visited Souvia they had this tea as a taster. It was pleasant and not overpowering. When I made it at home the smell was overpowering and I almost had to force myself to drink it. I tried it again and it was a little bit better.

I love “Starbucks” Chai Latte and I have been looking for a Chai I could make myself and have it be somewhat similar to Starbucks.

I was recommended this Chai because it was their spiciest they had. I added a couple of tbls of sugar and then some creamer. It’s nothing like Starbucks and more like the Oregon Chai Tea, which I don’t like.

The tea is ok. I don’t think it is spicy at all. Maybe I put too much sugar. Since I have a little left I will try it again with no creamer and little sugar. This is not a tea that I would buy again.

drank Masala Chai by Souvia

I love Starbucks Chai latte and Souvia said this was their spiciest Chai tea. I think I steeped this tea a little too long, 3min 20secs. I think 3min would be the best because I can taste a little bit of bitterness. Unfortunately I only had enough to make one cup.

The taste is good. I can taste the cardamom which is nice. I added lots of sugar getting ready to make a latte but wanted to try it first without the creamer. Its ok with the creamer.

If I didn’t have to order this online I think I would get it again to try other ways to make it.

Thanks for the review Jacque – This is our most popular Chai and many people do make it into a latte. If you like it spcier, consider the Red Chai which is a rooibos base.

Thank you for the suggestion. I will try it. How do you suggest to turn this into a Latte? Maybe I am not using the best ratio.

We brew it stronger than normal (more tea not more time) then blend with milk (your choice) and sweetener (we like honey) – Kerstin showed how to make a “guiltless latte” on Sonoran Living a while back – clip is here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oAHPywWvDMA or just search for Souvia and Latte on Youtube

drank Grey Duchess by Souvia

I loved the ‘Lady Gray’ from Twinnings so I thought I would give this a try.

The lavender and vanilla are a little overpowering so I use 1tsp/8oz and steeped for only 3min. Here is where I found the taste to be the best. The smell is very fragrant and nice.

I’ve been drinking tea for the past 35 years but only recently have I found ‘good’ tea. I am starting to become a tea ‘snob’ and I am ok with that. Why waste my time on bad tea?
