Such a cool place! Gorgeous open-air setup; you can view the gardens where they grow many of the ingredients of their house-made herbal blends. They also offer traditional teas, snacks, smoothies, etc. Western-style brewing only, but they have good quality loose leaf & encourage you to come back to the counter for more water for resteeps. Play area for families is a nice idea, too.

Interesting environment with an awesome selection of teas. First place I’ve experienced gongfu brewing away from home (not many options for that in NC). The service was…odd. While I appreciated the laid-back, low-pressure approach overall, my server was standoffish and not very welcoming/friendly during the necessary interactions (ordering, etc.). I definitely plan to try again when I’m in the area, but perhaps I’ll check out the downtown Asheville or Black Mountain locations instead.

Learning to brew gongfu style in my first gaiwan made me aware that not only is there an amazing array of teas out there to try, but each tea has the potential to have a great variety of flavors revealed by different preparations. Whenever possible, I like to brew each tea I try a few ways: gongfu, western, cold brewed/iced. I’ve enjoyed seeing how these treatments change any given tea.
