1792 Tasting Notes
Morning cold brew to get an early start with hydration. So juicy and bursting with flavour. My mom chose this one after finishing the Cotton Candy and although I was looking forward to trying something new, I’m never opposed to having this one!
Btw, you know that Bare Minerals order I was whining about weeks ago? Still hasn’t arrived despite actually calling them on Dec 2, the day the parcel arrived back at their warehouse, to immediately speak to someone and have it dealt with. They claimed it’ll soon be shipped out again. Days went by and never got a confirmation email and/or tracking code. So I emailed again on Monday. It’s Saturday and still no response. Sigh. Wow. I placed this order at the end of October. lolwut.
This is a beautiful tea. Speckled with whole star anise, cloves, cinnamon bark, red peppercorns, and green cardamom pods, it smells like a spicy Christmas candy. Is that you too, apple chunks? I just shuffled the leaf around and also found a couple dried orange slices! This is the first tea that caught my attention when I finally, finally walked into Acquired Taste for the first time a few weeks ago. The potency of the tea really knocks your socks off when you lift the lid off the little jar.
I mostly get cinnamon and orange in the tea, which in a way, makes me think of many Christmas blends you see floating around on the market. I’m just really impressed by the freshness of this tea. My mom cracked open one of the cardamom pods to release the delicious seeds inside, so let’s hope I’ll get more cardamom next time. The clove is palpable, but unfortunately, the anise is virtually non-existent. I can’t seem to even find anymore star anise in the dry leaf so I’m wondering if they only bother throwing in one per pouch/tin.
I’m curious to see what this would taste like with light cream and/or eggnog, even. OMG, my mom is playing around with the dry leaf with a spoon and I can smell it from across the table.
Sweetness, both of my BF orders came in today, plus I bought a couple Nordic mugs on sale at David’s. So, I decided to christen one of them with this tea, plus I shared a cup with my mom.
Definitely overleafed this time because I was just so darn excited to have some of this again. The first 1/3 of the cup was a little on the bitter side, especially when it was still really hot. But once it cooled down, the raisiny and pastry notes started to come out. I know it’ll be even better if I paid attention to those ratios again.
Oh wow, and this ended up being my 900th tasting note! Fancy that.
Ugh, another headache coming on + cold rainy evening = herbal tea. Feeling sad that I still haven’t written about or even tried some of my newer ones but this one does the trick. The steeped tea smells exceptionally vanilla pudding-esque this time around. The apple is stronger in flavour, but you do get that vanilla swirl at the end.
Mmm.
Double sip down! But it’ll sure be back in my cupboard someday. Maybe refill a tin with this glorious kettle corn gold sometime.
Cold-brew-that-tastes-like-Rockets this fine morning, once again. My mom is flying over tomorrow to spend some time here, so I have xyz to do before she comes. It’s a stupid goal of mine, but I told myself to sip down a certain amount of teas before she arrives. Maybe because having less in my cupboard while she’s here would make me feel slightly better? So I’ve been trying to finish off this one plus a few others. But looks like I won’t since I have one more 2L jug of this after this one. Oh well, no biggie!
Boo to poor customer service. I hope it gets sorted out soon.
Thanks! I feel bad complaining on here but sometimes companies need to be called out on stupidity.
Oh gosh, that is terrible – it has been such a long ordeal with that order!
Yeah, I know it’s a super busy time with xmas around the corner but upon visiting their FB page, many people have been complaining about their customer service, claiming it’s been consistently bad for over a year now. I just hope all the lovely Steepsterites will have better luck this season with their online xmas shopping!
