I was afraid when I saw just how much fennel was in this! I have had some bad experienced with fennel in tea. BUT…
This is wonderful! It leads me to believe that much of the fennel that I have had in teas has been either artificial or enhanced in some way with additional flavoring and/or the blends I have had have been too over the top with the other ingredients that either don’t mesh well with the other spices or interrupt the natural fennel taste!
Regardless…
this is what fennel SHOULD be all about! This has a great deal of Fennel IN the mix but it tastes very good and more natural tasting than others I have tried prior!
The other ingredients are gentle and in the background. They only assist and do the fennel justice in this specific case! I’m very impressed with this one!
This if my favorite Fennel Related Tea to date! Nicely done!
This one REALLY surprised me! For one…I never would have thought of flavoring kukicha with these chai ingredients but now that it has been done I am glad it was!
The Cardamom and Cinnamon are NOT overly strong at all…they are wonderful on the assist! As are the Ginger and Clove. The primary flavors are the Kukicha and Coconut which are bold and sassy! I love that about this blend!
As for the aroma it’s a coconut-twig-toasty-nutty-slightly coffee bean-esque type aroma that I have never sniffed before! Very creative/unique and a daring/bold move! And a successful one, I might add!! This exceeded my expectations and was a wondrous surprise!
Sounds like the tea to cure my recent chai embargo. I haven’t been very chai friendly lately for the same reason but add in the magic of kukicha and coconut? Gah, you’re making my shopping list quintuple! XD
Interesting! A very interesting tea. I have tried the Genmaicha Chai from Yogic Chai in the past, and so I was excited to try it with the Lemongrass addition. It adds a nice dimension of flavor.
The Genmaicha is somewhat softened by the presence of the spices and lemongrass, but not so much that it disappears. A slight toasted nut note sits in the background. The lemongrass adds a light citrus-y note and a slight creamy tone to the cup.
This is really good!
Preparation
I love fennel – especially in tea. I love that bit of black licorice taste it imparts.
So I was very happy to see how much fennel is in this particular chai. Yum!
This is a very good chai. The Assam tea base is strong and sturdy. It provides some heft to the cup without getting too aggressive and overthrowing the spices. Even though there is a lot of fennel in this blend, it is not TOO much – the spices are in delightful balance.
Yummy!
Preparation
Another black friday purchase! This is yummy. The blueberry has a sweet yet tart flavor, and it gets along well with the chai spices and the Bai Mu Dan.
Very enjoyable.
Preparation
This tea hasn’t been added to their website yet, it is one that was offered as a bonus when I placed my order before Black Friday.
When I opened the package I was a little surprised to find that it looked like hot cocoa mix! So I emailed them to ask about how to steep it and they got back to me within an hour! (This company is one of my favorites when it comes to customer service)
This is really delicious! Smooth and spicy! Chocolate-y yummy-nummy-ness!
It is a little messy to steep because the mixture is so finely ground (well not messy to steep but messy to strain!) It requires a little patience but it’s worth it.
Yay! I love Yogic Chai!
This is so good. Yogic Chai’s masala spices are so good – spiced very well (almost as good as mine). The kukicha adds a bit of toasty flavor to the cup which is very nice and very harmonious with the coconut. I would say that this is my favorite Yogic Chai so far, but that wouldn’t be fair because it’s been quite a while since I’ve had much from them. (Although there is much more to come now!)
Lovely flavor. Spiced but not overly spicy, warm, delicious and comforting. Yum Yum Yum!
Preparation
*quick note, I got mine from ZEN Tea. (http://ezentea.com/). I"m no master at Chai stuff, so it’s probably not the best it could be, but it’s pretty good. the smell reminds me of Christmas. Oh, and I used some French Vanilla, Fat free creamer (mom’s stuff).
Overall pretty good! just gotta get used to using creamer instead of sugar.
Preparation
I’m unsure of this one.
I think i was expecting a strong tart blueberry taste since yogic chai usually does whole ingredients. Maybe a few actual dried blue berries floating around the bag.
It looks like they took whole dried blue berries and ground them to a powder and added that to the chai mix. It’s not bad it’s just not what I was expecting. So with this powder flavoring the blue berry taste is there but it’s still not as strong as I would have wanted it. I guess I wanted the blue berry flavor to dominate the blend and be supported by the chai herbs. This blend is more like a chai with an equal flavoring part of blue berry mixed in.
They totally did the right thing in this blend by taking out specific spices. The ones that are left in remind me of baking spices. So this blend is not as punchy as the normal teas from yogic chai at all but it works well.
I like it… it just took me off guard as it is quite a departure from their normal chais.
So if your in the mood for a warm chai-like tea this is pretty awesome.
If you want CHAI with punch and bravado and spirit… this is not it.
Preparation
lol When I saw these (I don’t like blueberry, but I wanna try the Acai one) I was like “WTH?!” This got more of a shocked reaction out of me than most of Frank’s teas.
Yea I KNOW! I had to give in… and they are truly worth a try. There not at all like what I was expecting but still pretty good. I try the Acai tomorrow (pacing out my new teas) so I’ll pay super special close attention for you. Did you order it? I didn’t think I saw a review of it up from you.
The second infusion of this tea is even better. The spices are somewhat smoother (still quite lively, just not as powerful as they were in the first) and the white tea is very soft and … I want to say “warm and fuzzy” tasting. Not that it tastes fuzzy exactly, but that is the way I feel very often when I drink a white tea – the delicate nature of the white tea is just so luxurious – it’s like curling up in a warm, fuzzy blanket. Something sumptuously silky and soft.
The spices seem to enhance this feeling because they taste so comforting. The sun is not quite shining – it’s been kind of a drizzly day, so this cuppa is just perfect!
Preparation
Finishing up the last of this in my cupboard.
This tea really surprised me. I wasn’t expecting much from a white chai, because white tea is so delicate, I figured the spices would completely overwhelm the flavor of the white tea. But I think that Yogic Chai did a really good balancing act here. The spices are very lively, but do not overwhelm the fresh, light taste of the white tea.

Preparation
No, I didn’t add milk to it. I suppose you could, but I think it would overwhelm the white tea flavor. I did add honey (I always add honey to chai) which brings out some of the more delicate nuances of the spices. But no milk.
@cofftea – I am not a big fan of acai berry, so I’m not rushing to place an order for that one. If I place another order with them for something else, I might include it in the order, just for the sake of curiosity.
I have just a little bit of this one left… I thought I’d brew up some tonight – I am still in the mood for tea but since it’s a bit later I didn’t think it’d be a great idea to brew something with a lot of caffeine.
I really love the flavor of this chai. The white tea is so light, crisp and refreshing. It’s a very nice pick-me-up for later in the evening (like now!) The spices are warm, but not overpoweringly spicy tasting. One thing that I have found (and really enjoyed) about Yogic Chai teas is that the spice blends are always so very nicely balanced with the tea base. So often with chai tea, the spices are so overwhelming that you can’t really taste tea. Not so here. The masala spices are strong, yet in perfect balance with the softer tasting white tea.
And… I think that my taste buds are pretty much back to normal! So I’m going to start rating numerically again!
Preparation
Another chai…this time a white…and I will say…I LIKE THIS TOO!!!
A special thanks to LiberTEAs for this as well!!!
It’s juicy but not fruity…it’s sweet but still spice. It’s refreshing and almost makes me crave for more!
It’s description focuses on it’s herbal properties but it doesn’t taste like your normal “blah” Herbals…it has flavor and a good one. It has character!
WOW. The more I sip the more I am surprised at how much I like it. I really this it’s the sweet without the tart or bitterness that some tend to have and the spice with being gentle instead of being comparable to sucking on a mouthful of cinnamon bark.
YAY!
:)
Me likie!
Simmered 4 min and then strained. 1Tsp raw sugar. No Milk.
I’m a big fan of their Chais but I feel as if the coconut in this blend takes away some of the flavor instead of adding to it.
So if you want something a little bit more mellow than their plain Genmaicha Chai I would give this a shot.
Although the directions call for a boiling-steep method, this tends to make a very astringent concentrate best diluted with milk and sugar. When done in a bag and steeped for 5 minutes at 200F it was weak and disappointing. However, when left loose in a mug of water at around 208F and allowed to sit until cooled, you get a warm spicy cup, a nice balance. Be wary of tea leaves in your teeth!
