The aroma of this tea may put those of you without a sweet tooth off this tea, but trust me, when I say this tea is absolutely delectable. This tea is 75% Chinese Black Tea, 15% Indian Black Tea and 2% Sri Lankan Black Tea, however this is impressively light and very smooth on the palate. The aroma is a rich, honeyed, pineapple taste, which made me dubious as to whether the blend would be too overwhelming, but I was proven wrong. This tea is incredibly light, with delicate notes, and a brilliant after taste. At first you have the delicate tea, which the slight of hint of orange and the merest hint of grapefruit, however as the liquor leaves the palate, you experience sweet honeyed notes and light rose. It’s a perfect, light summer tea. I buy loose, however I know these come in tea bags if needed.

Sipdown!

I had this tea first hot and then cold brewed overnight.
I enjoyed it hot more as I did get a slight ginger note and a fruity crispness from it. It was an interesting flavour combination with the green-black blend.
The cold brew was less flavourful and more of a run of the mill green with almost no other facets to it. I wasn’t impressed to be honest. If I ever got this again I would brew it up hot. Of course, that is only my opinion though. :)

Girl, where did you get Laduree?

I’ve had teas variously called 1001 nights before, although I think this one is quite different from all of them. This one I got from MissB, and I cold brewed it. I have to say, although it was reasonably tasty, none of the flavors really stuck out to me. It was kind of just a generically fruity green tea as a cold brew. Apparently it has mint in it too, and I’m glad that did not come out in the cold brew. I definitely preferred Roi Solei from Laduree as a cold brew, it held it’s flavors better.

My cold brewed green of the day, once again courtesy of MissB. I tend to drink these without looking at what the flavoring “should” be, so it’s always a surprise. This one, I would have guessed citrus and vanilla, which is pretty close. Knowing that there is also rhubarb, now I really taste the rhubarb. It is not unlike the rhubarb and custard hard candies that I got in England. This was quite tasty, although the cream was perhaps a little much? I dunno, with the new association in my head, I like it better than I did before I looked it up. Weird how that works.

This tea comes to me from MissB, thanks! I snuck some samples into Equusfell’s mystery box, and she sent me quite the package. I shouldn’t be surprised. :)

Anyway, I really wanted to try some Laduree blends because hello, I love French teas, and I somehow have never tried their teas. Also I believe someone (Ysaurella?) told me that DF blends Laduree’s blends, and I am of course a huge DF fan.

This was nice. I don’t know that I would need to restock this one, but I definitely enjoyed it quite a bit. It actually reminded me a bit of MF’s Pleine Lune (hopefully there wasn’t any cross contamination). It had spice notes like a hint of cinnamon, a bit of almond, and some nice creaminess. I didn’t get much in the way of citrus or florals. Would definitely drink this one again.

Refreshing, floral and all around satisfying. This tea is 91% Chinese Green Tea and 1% Chinese Black Tea, so it has the crisp fresh flavours and aromas from green, but a warm, fuller undercurrent, coming from the black. The rich floral flavours like rose are delicately balances with the crisp flavours of mint and the the sweetness of the orange blossom is perfectly balanced with the spice of ginger, a perfect tea for summer. One of my all time favourite ‘green teas’. I buy loose, however I know these come in tea bags if needed.

Sweet and floral but with the full body of black tea, the notes of caramel and cinnamon are very subtle but works with the main notes of rose, bergamot and orange to make a blend which is classically Ladurée. Ladurée provides high quality, well blended tea. I been through quite a few boxes of this and I’ve yet to experience any bitter after taste. Kudos to the company for thinking about their quality and putting their teas in woven tea bags, and not plastic ‘tea temples’ as the plastic leaches toxins into your tea. One of the most delicate black teas I’ve ever tasted, unrivalled with anything else I’ve ever tried. Definitely one of the most delicate teas I’ve tasted

cup of this today as well to say farewell. the rest is in to the swap box for whomever nabs it first. I really do love the way the french do their teas. Subtle and not in your face flavouring. you can still taste the base tea while enjoying the flavours layering in to the tea :)

Still muted for me in terms of flavour vs smell. An enjoyable cup but i need to play with it a little more. At least, the tea base is lovely enough that it still makes for a good cuppa.

cocoa, caramel, vanilla…hmmm This is SUPER delicate and might actually warrant a 5 mins steep, so i’ll try that next. I can taste the cocoa and vanilla…the caramel might be what’s contributing to the slight muting of those flavours but overall it’s still a smooth blend that lets the base shine through. I have a suspicion that if i let this steep a little longer it might be spot on. Things to try for next time! :)

final cup of this today before i toss it in the swap box. I’ve decided to get rid of a bunch of teas that are languising in my cupboard because i don’t love them as much as other teas in my cupboard. Hopefully someone will take this and a few others off my hands :)

i’m still always amazed at how different one vanilla tea can be from another. I still have a little trouble with these teas from laduree but they’re still tasty enough that i am happy to have tried them. smooth base and great taste.

MissB

THIS is the store opening on Robson, not Fauchon! Le Sigh.

Sil

haha way to ruin omgsrslys hopes and dreams…

MzPriss

But the macarons will be sooooooo worth it

MissB

Lol, we’ve talked about it already, and she said the same thing as MzPriss. Ha! It’s still good tea, and frankly… I’ll use any excuse I can to get back to France. Fauchon can be it. :P

Sil

haha

__Morgana__

Yeah, I love the differences. The ice creamy, the vanilla beany, the cookie-like, the whipped creamy. Probably more than that, even!

Marzipan

What you’re getting a Laduree?

Sil

aye.. Vancouver is getting one

OMGsrsly

Yes! Macarons! :D :D :D :D :D

Another crack at this one. I think i prefer MF or DF’s vnailla tea but this one is still pleasant enough that i won’t have trouble getting through the 100g i picked up. It’s got almost a lighter fruity side to it…not that it’s fruity but the tea underneath is…brighter? somehow? Not explaining very well today heh

Again with the different sort of vanilla. I didn’t realise that this was a darjeeling blend but i DO enjoy the subtlties of this one. I only steeped this for 3 mins, though Laduree seems to want all their blacks to be steeped for 5 mins. I will have no problems finishing this one off as it’s a really smooth vanilla blend, with the base teas coming through nicely.

Farewell cup of tea on this one. Happened to finish this one off today – hadn’t realised i was so close to the end of this. I still think that my notes are being eaten because i know there are a few teas i’ve had many more times or have written reviews on teas that aren’t shown up. bah

I tried this one out today as i have a swap buddy who wants to taste this and i figured i should at least try a few of the teas before sending it off. this is a lovely tea – it’s reminiscent of those “red fruit teas” that you can pick up from DF, MF and a multitude of other french companies while still NOT being those teas. I’m not sure if that makes sense, but i’m tired of red fruit teas…and this one i would still drink.

cteresa

I had it, just a cup, not long ago! It is OK, but kind of dammann-ish – they themselves have a jardin bleu tea which is not too different from this one (but not quite the same if my nose remembers rights)

Sil

i prefer this one to the DF version, though that’s memory speaking and i couldn’t say why. A nice tea for the summer i think

I only drank this because I knew I could get more soon in France. Or Europe. Or just… anywhere over “there”.

Siiiiggggh.. I love his tea.
