Not bad. Not my favourite, but not bad. The black currant flavour is nice, I’m not really sure about champagne – it’s a little grapey I guess?

I don’t think I’ll get this one again, and I just have one cup left.

Preparation
175 °F / 79 °C 2 min, 0 sec 3 tsp 10 OZ / 295 ML

Mmm. Hot with a couple pieces of rock sugar added while it steeped.

IDK why they recommend steeping it so hot. White tea is best steeped cooler (IMO), so I tried it at 160F for 3 minutes or so.

Delicious! Sweet blackcurrant, mild white tea. I’m liking this a lot! It would be good blended with some fruits and made into popsicles, I think…

Preparation
160 °F / 71 °C 2 min, 45 sec 2 tsp 10 OZ / 295 ML
yyz

It’s a kir royale tea, does it taste like it?

OMGsrsly

I’ve never had a kir royale! But the black currant is spot on, especially with a pinch of sugar added.

yyz

Nice, the drink is just cassis and champagne.

Roswell Strange

I wonder how this compares to Tea Desire’s version?

OMGsrsly

Very similar I think, Roswell. They might get it from the same supplier. I’ll have to call Bayswater and check the ingredients, though.

I was dumb and didn’t even check the ingredients for this tea in store. Oh well! It smells divine. So curranty!

I’ve made up a glass iced, because I am thirsty. The flavour doesn’t totally transfer iced, but the leaves still smell great so I’ll make another cup hot.

It’s currents, plus white tea, plus a sweetness I wasn’t quite expecting. I’m not sure yet if I’ll get it again, but so far, so good.

I spent the entire afternoon out walking around Vancouver. I bused out to Bayswater, then walked to the shoe store and successfully returned some shoes, walked to Granville Island and got a tart and a matcha (I asked for iced, but oops I got a hot one! Still delicious.), walked downtown and shopped a bit. I ended up getting a power pack for my phone, because phone batteries suck.

If you’re looking for one, get one that doesn’t require pressing a button to start charging – the button will die first – and it should be at least 3000mAh. I wanted a 5000mAh one, but it required a button press. So I got the 3000mAh one for $25. Not too shabby. Nice and cheap.

I got this one at London Drugs for $25. Not sure what’s up with the pricing. http://www.logiix.net/product-p/piston_power.htm (LGX-10816)

drank Triple Creamy by Bayswater Tea Co.
1443 tasting notes

Steeped up this one on the continuation of Tea & Suits Day haha.

This one is creamy, yes, but the other flavours seem to just amalgamate. It’s a tasty tea, but I’m having trouble differentiating different chocolates and coconut. They just become one. All in all, a tasty tea.

I think I may work on some sipdowns next, because the teas literally cannot fit in my cupboard at this point, so I need to make room and get creative about fitting teas in.

keychange

Is this tea strongly flavoured though, do you think? is it creamy?

Courtney

It’s creamy, but I wouldn’t say strongly flavoured. But not weakly flavoured, like you’re searching for flavour either. There’s flavour there, but it’s not overwhelming.

ohfancythat

Do you also get “yelled at” for having your tea take over the kitchen? Haha.

keychange

Hmmm, interesting.

ohfancythat

Haha hope you were successful!

drank Berry Sunset by Bayswater Tea Co.
1443 tasting notes

This one is delightful cold brewed. I brew this one up for 7 hours, and even though it still smells strongly of the combination of lemongrass and hibiscus, but the flavours meld and although they have a tartness, it’s not overwhelming at all.

Quite refreshing actually. I’m looking forward to the cold brewed Creamy Rhubarb as well.

As an aside, I’ve now watched 7 episodes of Suits. Harvey is so delightfully awesome.

Iced 8 min or more 2 tsp 8 OZ / 236 ML

1443 tasting notes

This one smelled quite strong dry, so I was a bit wary to steep it up, but it turned out quite nicely. It’s a bit like lemonade with a hint of hibiscus.

It brewed up a medium pink, but I still expected a mouthful of tart hibiscus, but it was not be. The hibiscus is very light. I’m enjoying it hot, but I have a feeling it will be even better cold brewed.

This one is actually labelled as a ‘sun tea’. Perhaps that means I should brew it in the sun?

Preparation
Boiling 6 min, 30 sec
Memily

Cold brewing is a more hygienic way of sun brewing… at least that’s what I’ve been reading lately when I was looking into cold brewing!

drank Market Spice by Bayswater Tea Co.
1443 tasting notes

I picked this one up on a whim yesterday, because who doesn’t love Market Spice tea? No matter where you get it, it’s always a delightful treat.

It strikes me as seasonal and reminds me more of Christmas, but I still enjoy it from time to time other times of the year. The orange, clove, cinnamon mix with a black tea base just works so well. It’s rich in it’s own way.

I just checked the tracking on a huge box of teas (huge, like 1.5 kg) I sent me friend in the US. When I first checked the tracking days ago all was well, and now the expected delivery date has changed, and the expected delivery city now says the same city it left from! Why, Canada Post?!

Cold brew time is up! Thank goodness for phone alarms, or else I’d forget things like cold brewing tea in the fridge.

Well, I have to say this one is weirding me out. Not because it tastes weird, but because it brewed up opaque. I immediately thought of Anna’s foamy opaque tea from this morning.

While it’s a good cold brew, I may prefer this one hot. And it may also partially be because hot it’s not opaque. Weird! I also preferred Luscious Watermelon hot too though.

I cold brewed this one for 10 hours.

Preparation
Iced 8 min or more

I’m happy with this one. The dry and steeped scent is all rhubarb. Rhubarb is the best. And even better is that there is no hibiscus! YES. There is a creamy aspect here too, from
the yogurt no doubt. Overall a tasty herbal option.

I’m excited to try it cold too.

Sil

oh nice

drank Maple Taffy by Bayswater Tea Co.
1443 tasting notes

I cold brewed this one for 17 hours last night, and it is tasty this morning. To be honest, it tastes just like the hot version, but cold. Actually, it’s a tad less sweet.

Quite enjoyable.

I seem to be on a cold brew kick, and I just put both Dolce Vita and Root Beer in the fridge to cold brew for later on tonight.

Iced 8 min or more

drank Maple Taffy by Bayswater Tea Co.
1443 tasting notes

I caved and picked up 100g of this one today. Whoops. The scent is divine, gah. The taste is much lighter, but still quite tasty. I’m enjoying the cinnamon maple mixture, but overall I may slightly prefer Maple Seduction, however I don’t know if I would say they’re fully comparable just because of the very different tastes.

I think I need to steep this one longer to get a bit more flavour from it next time.

Preparation
205 °F / 96 °C 3 min, 0 sec
Sil

Lol you goof…100g is so much! I steeped mine for about 4.5? Mins I think…

Courtney

Haha! I was very excited. Although everything except Divine Temptation and this one was 50g. Phew. I shall steep longer, I also eyeballed the leaf amount since I only brought an infuser.

Sil

All my bayswater teas were 50g or 25g since cavo is splitting most of them with me heh as a result they’ll probably be finished up before some of my older teas lol

TeaLady441

They’ll be finished before I run over and grab them is what you mean eh? :P

TeaLady441

(not that I mind! Seriously – open them up!)

Sil

Lol I split up a couple of them last night but bayswater is also really smelly so trying to keep them locked up

last tea for the night. we pooped the dog out and he’s now sleeping half under the bed and half on the mat by my side of the bed. Works for me though ’cause he had me up all night last night. I had a cup of this while watching Longmire with the other half. so glad netflicks picked it up again.

Final Count: 127 (at least i might make my mini goal this weekend.. 150 to 120 over the long weekend…it could happen..i think i have enough sipdowns to get there)

backlog!

Last of this finished up yesterday while the other half and i got in a tv show and dinner. I try really hard to make sure that even if i’m working like nobody’s business during the week, i shut down on friday at a reasonable time, and spend a relaxing evening with my other half not thinking about work. I may get up at 7am the next day to finish work but i need that evening to take time to reconnect with him and just unplug from all the work frustration. So this + tea AND to bed “earlier” than i have been, means i may survive this weekend lol

i love friday nights. They are typically the one night a week guaranteed for E and i to relax and take a deep breath after long weeks and before the craziness of the weekend sets in with work or running around with friends. Played some Terra Mystica while having a few cups of tea tonight and it was fantastic. i love this tea because it’s limey and a little spicy and just downright yummy. now if only after a year and a half bayswater ACTUALLY did something with their website…

JustJames

OMG!!!!! their website! dun dun duuuuuuuuuun. i am stunned =0(

Sil

yeah and it’s not up to date…and they’ve been saying for like 2 years they’re “almost ready to launch an ecommerce site”

OMGsrsly

It’s so frustrating. Even living in the same city, just being able to browse before I went in would be amazing.

Bear With Me

when you say “limey and a ‘little’ spicey” how limey to spicey are we talking? lots of lime with a bit of a punch, just enough lime to be a lime tea with a real kick of ginger, etc?

OMGsrsly

Needs more ginger. I can start another “box” for you, Bear With Me. :)

Sil

it’s just got a bit of a kick…most ppl who can stand spicy things would probably not notice this much

Bear With Me

I’ll send my sister to get me some while she’s over there next week :) there’s a few I want to try and I need to top up on grapefruit EG again (already. oops)

OMGsrsly

Mmm, grapefruit EG. I totally forgot about that one the last time I was in.

Bear With Me

it’s one of my favourite iced teas this year apparently. Only EG other than DAVIDs (now dc’d) Earl of Lemon that I like cold. I blame the punchy citrus.

Today this was really nice. the peppercorns made it much spicier than normal so it was a happy time for me. Not as much ginger as i wanted, but given the peppercorns it still had kick. I need to remember to a) cold brew this tomorrow and b) add a little honey to see how that brings out the flavours.

Final Count: 182 [70 samples = fake cupboard at 112 with a week and a half to go! 1 tea from October left in my cupboard and 4 from December…not too shabby, figure maybe 110 by the time july rolls around at this rate heh]

Remember you have a parcel coming from meeee! :)

shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh so many samples to get through.. lol

Still digging this one a bunch. I’m happy that gambles paid off when I hit bayswater. Nt all the teas I picked were winners but a bunch have been great. I also haven’t even tried a huge number of them lol. I like that this one reminds me a little of lime gelato from David’s but is zippier!

Courtney

Gambles paying off is always awesome.

Cheri

This sounds good. Do you do it as a cold brew or hot?

Sil

both actually!

backlog from yesterday as i needed some fruity teas after a long day of work. I really enjoy this one because it’s got a delicious tangy ginger zip to things! I still need to try this cold brewed, especially now that summer is in full force, but that’s a challenge for after moving!

always on the search for more ginger teas – especially non caffinated ones, i picked this up while at bayswater. I was originally going to get the ginger pineapple, but when i smelled this one, i knew it was the way to go. This is like lime gelato from david’s tea but less sugar and more spicy kick! Again, i could handle more ginger but on the whole, this is a really tasty one. it’s got just enough ginger to satisfy me and accompanies the lime really nicely. So glad i opted for this one over the pineapple since i think that wouldn’t have been as nice.

Courtney

I smelled this one and ended up passing, just because I had too many.

OMGsrsly

I’m adding teas to my shopping list, even though I am not allowed to go tea shopping for many many months at this point. :)

Courtney

I went a little crazy, but those are the only two shops i’m going to. 12 new teas and $80 down. Eep. OMGsrsly, I noticed Pekoe Tea en route to Bayswater – have you been?

Sil

MissB has gone to Pekoe tea – she sent me a few. Of the ones i’ve tried, i’d be more inclined to do bayswater. Only 12 teas…sheesh…try harder! :)

Sil

omg – happy to send you some as well to try. I still have the bolder breakfast set aside for you too

OMGsrsly

Courtney, Pekoe carries Steeps teas, and some from other suppliers. They measure into tins. Some are good, some are terrible, and the service really depends on the staff as it is more of a cafe.

OMGsrsly

Sil… :P

I’m too overwhelmed with life right now to deal with more teas. :) I haven’t had any today again… I made more coffee this morning.

Sil

OMG…next time you’re at steam tell him your vacationing friends were sad they got no samples and had to get 100g….

Courtney

Gah, I know 100g was so much! For Maple Seduction it’s fine, but I didn’t really want 100 of the other two haha. Good to know about Pekoe too.

Try harder :P I’m not up in the hundreds of teas like you Sil, and I need to keep it that way haha!

Sil

courtney..i could change all that for you bwahahaha

Sil

..also i’m LESS than 100 from where you’re at…totally not bad :P

Courtney

Good job! Hehe, I have zero cupboard space as it is, and my teas have now taken up another drawer. I think the issue is, all the teas in my Steepster cupboard are actually decent amount.

OMGsrsly

I totally will, Sil! That sucks so much.

Figured i might as well hit up my two maple teas at the same time :) This one is close in sipdown range, so i’m going to force it and let another tea friend try this one out hahaha. I enjoyed this, but i’m still not convinced the popcorn had a place in this tea lol

had a cup of this tonight. it’s still a weird sort of blend for me. Popcorn in here, which doesn’t really seem to add to the blend, but doesn’t interfere with it either. Cinnamon, which is hard to equate to maple…but it works in a weird way. Not my favourite tea, but not half bad. :)
