52 Tasting Notes
I can NOT believe no one has reviewed this tea yet!! This tea is seriously absolutely amazing!!! I received it in my June 2014 Verdant Tea Blends Club, along with Golden Earl (also amazing!), and Gardens of Anxi (yet to try).
I was completely caught by surprise with this tea. I have been having a lot of stomach problems in the past months and I have been trying to find a tea that sits well. I was having DavidsTea Super Ginger, but tonight I was wanting something a bit different. This tea calms my mind and my tummy. Its an absolutely perfect blend of Birch Bark, Cinnamon, Licorice, Peppermint, Spearmint, Tulsi, and Vanilla. I don’t know how they did it but I really really REALLY want more of this tea!!! Its so refreshing and relaxing. Every sip is a explosion of awesomeness. It is so good I am not even sure how to describe it. I sure hope they add this to their blends. Everyone must try this!!
Preparation
What a stressful day. Find out our old house that we sold, the deal fell through so now we are paying two mortgages. My anxiety is through the roof. How is this possible? Argh we can’t afford this. Why now? So I have a feeling over the next few days I will be drinking this like crazy. My mind needs to relax so I can process this and deal with it accordingly. Thank goodness it is a long weekend. I am almost out of this tea but thankfully I have some that I have ordered coming. I should have ordered more of it haha. Hope everyone else’s day is going better then mine!!!
Preparation
This morning I’m needing an energy boost. We have a lot to do today. I received this sample maybe a month ago and have finally decided to try it now that we are moved. Wow as soon as I opened the package, BAM! Grape! It does smell quite like artificial grape but I love grape. It smells like grape pop or grape freezers mmmmm!
Steeped it smells so much like natural grape! I’m amazed ! It’s like perfect! I am ver impressed by this tea, definitely exceeded my expectations. I will be purchasing this soon.
Preparation
Finally we are moved into our new house!!!!!!!!! Yay!!!! :) I am still shocked at what we were able to accomplish in 3 days! This included moving everything into the house, un packaged about 60%, hosted 2 dinner parties, visited with family from across canada that are in for a few days, put up a wall mount ( a lot harder then I thought), and cleaning like crazy! I can’t believe the condition they left this house, it was disgusting! Plus this morning when Corey was leaving to go to work for the first time at the new house, his truck won’t start! So he had to take my car and now I’m stranded. I will have to borrow a vehicle from my parents to go to work this evening. The cat and dog finally seem to be getting more comfortable. The cat was very stressed and confused the first few days.
Well this morning I have decided to dive into my samples and finish some of them off. I chose this one because I am craving something spicy and cozy, plus this sample is really old. Love how I can finally see all my teas now, rather then digging through boxes. This tea is good but not the best chai I have ever had. It’s a bit more subdued then I would like. There is a hint of chocolate at the end of your sip and in the after taste. I actually like it! This is odd, I normally don’t care for chocolate in my teas. But then again what I hate most is when the chocolate flavour is artificial and sweet. I think I would have to try this again to really decide if I actually like it or not. Sadly though this tea is archived on the website.
Preparation
It was such a nice day today! Fresh snow and sun :) Took a long walk with the puppy. He of course was in heaven, though he saw a mouse under the snow and tried to chase it for a good 15 minutes haha. Today I have been craving mint, and the only mint teas I have that are not unpacked are from davidstea. There are very few davidstea’s with mint that I actually like. Tonight I have had 2 cups of Santa’s Secret (which I need to log) which has been sitting untouched in my cupboard for quite a while.
This tea honestly does not smell good steeped. The mint and coconut makes a weird smell to me. I don’t know about this, I am very hesitant to try this. Huh this tastes odd to me. The coconut flavour is nice and natural but I’m not sure if I like it with mint. It is kinda creamy. This is my least favourite tea in a long long time. Definitely not getting this again. It irritates my stomach too.
Preparation
Was a long day, putting together our new dinning room set up that only took 3 hours. Putting the chairs together should not have taken that long, I blame the tiny allan wrench they supplied. Its going to look so good in the new house :) I also purchased a Breville variable temperature kettle! Finally!! Was on sale for $99! I can not wait to try it, my man is making me wait to use it in the new house.
Tonight I am craving something sweet so I thought I shall try my sample of this. Smells way better then I expected. It steeps to a dark red/pink colour. Would look so nice in a class mug. The smell steeped reminds me of a strong tasting strawberry ice-cream. Wow my man would love this tea! He will eat anything that has strawberries in it. This would be a great iced tea, I will have to remember to get some more to try it in the summer.
At first it is very tart but a good tart thankfully to give it that rhubarb flavour. Strawberry flavour is growing on me after each sip. At first the strawberry is artificial, but the after taste is more natural. For once I actually like the yogurt bites. Its not too much but just enough where it resembles ice cream. mmmmm and ice cream is my favourite dessert. This just keeps getting better. But you need to be in the mood for something sweet to drink this.

Alright I am determined to get better at tea logging!! I may miss a few for the next 19 days due to moving into my first house :) It has been crazy with packing, meeting with the bank and such. I have packed away 90% of my tea, regretting this decision already. Argh I am craving yunnan this morning!!! But I am forcing myself not to tear through every box to get it. Instead I will drink up the teas I haven’t pack; samples and other teas that get ignored due to favourites and exciting new teas I buy. OOO speaking of new teas I am SUPER excited to receive my order of the February Box of customized Verdant tea blends from Amoda!
This tea smells nice and spicy! mmm vanilla, cinnamon and a hint of citrus. The cloves and cinnamon taste is more of what I was expect from the gingerbread tea. Just add a hit of molasses and to me this would be a perfect gingerbread. Love how the tea sparkles.
Preparation
I can not wait to decorate!!! Its hard not to buy accents now. Can not wait to make it my cozy sanctuary :)
Mine has been a work in progress for 12 years or so. It takes me a long time to figure out what I want, in terms of color & decor, I’m just not that visually oriented, but I came up with colors that somehow are soothing, energizing, & help me to feel happy at the same time :) I still have a lot to do, but its an old house, so there are always things to do!
Your best to take your time, otherwise you end up with a room that makes you say what was I thinking. My plan is to have neutral furniture and walls. Then all my accents can be colourful and they are cheaper to change as my taste changes throughout the coming years. I already have a list that is scary long of things that need done in the house and I haven’t even moved in yet haha
hahaha
AND I know what you mean! My daughter & her husband have lived in their house (1 block away from me) for 11 years, & they have completely redone their kitchen now twice, are working on their 2nd remodeling of the downstairs bathroom, & have repainted all of the other rooms several times, because they got tired of the colors. For awhile they went extremely bold, their dining room was so intensely red (I think they called it merlot) that I could hardly stand to be there, lol. I’m more of an earth tones kind of person, for the most part.
oh wow!!!! haha thats a lot of money! hahaha ya thats why i do neutral walls and furniture :) red or merlot would be….. interesting say the least. I am pulling my inspiration for my living and dining room from a picture of a tree in the woods :) so earthy and cozy
Nice! I did something similar. In my office I have a watercolor of a creek in the spring, which I got as partial payment from the artist for playing her art show. I picked a color that sets it off. In my Studio there is another painting, sort of a Georgia O’Keeffe type thing, done by a local artist. I got that one as partial payment for playing her wedding. If it wasn’t for trading at gigs, I probably wouldn’t have any art on my walls!
I decided to try my sample of this tonight. This tea confuses me. It is so close to a hot chocolate I had to double and triple check inside my cup to see if it actually was. Is this tea? Hot chocolate? mmm But it isn’t a good hot chocolate flavour to me. It tastes a bit artificial and too sweet for my taste. I like the heat sensation I get in the back of my throat after each sip. I do not get enough Chai spice taste for my liking. Overall a good substitute for hot chocolate. I will need to try this tea again.
Preparation
Wow I have been terrible about logging teas lately. I blame my adorable puppy. What can I say I’m a sucker for sad puppy eyes and cute fluffy faces <3
Been in a bit of a funk today. Work was very slow all week :( booooo. Sure hope my clientele picks up next week.
To pull me out of this bad mood I thought I would try one of my new teas today. As soon as I opened this one up I knew I chose correctly!! The bergamot oil smells amazing! Calms my head instantly. Thats exactly what I have been needing lately, something to pull me into another land, an escape from my thoughts.
Steeped it smells a bit more earthy, reminds me of being in my parents flower garden as a kid.
Mmmmm this is the perfect tea for me today.
Preparation
This morning has consisted of me watching the puppy and cat wrestle haha so cute!!! I am very happy they get along so well :)
I received a sample of this quite a while ago and I have already had the first half of my sample. Apparently I forget to write a tasting note. So I am just finishing this one up. I have been trying to drink all of my samples lately. I have sooo much tea!! I haven’t even had time to try all of my new ones yet!!
This one dry smells like raspberries… mmmmm! I have decided to step in my new Gaiwan from verdant tea :) I used about 4g, rinsed once quickly and then steeped with boiling water for about 3 seconds. Wet is smells sweet and savoury, like a vanilla cake with some raspberries with a bit of floral. It taste like it smells mmmm but more creamy and rich. Could definitely see myself drinking this more often!
