1598 Tasting Notes
I took one look at this and decided to hold it for iced teas, so it’s my first time trying it today after cold-brewing it for 14 hours. I think I may have oversteeped it as it is just a little bit bitter, but the orange is very nice and a little bit of agave would probably make this perfect! I’ve got lots left to experiment with though!
Thank you Green Terrace for the generous samples of your teas. I was very excited to try this one based on the description.
I steeped it for 2.5 minutes at 95C and found this tea to be absolutely delicious. It has juicy fruity notes, with honey on top. I can’t wait to re-steep it. Even as the liquor cools at the end of my cup, I have to say that it is still very good with no trace of bitterness.
I was surprised to see that it’s $39.60 for 100g of tea though! Maybe I need a more fully refined palette to appreciate the depths of this tea? OTOH, that’s pretty close to what I pay for Laoshan Black. :P And this was very good tea.
We have been taking everyone’s feedback very seriously and have reduced the price of this tea. Thank you for the review!
I need to try and get to my sample of this one tonight/tomorrow….I wanted to see how my thoughts were against yours cavo…for some reason I had thought you had the honey black first heh
When this tea works, it works SO WELL. When it doesn’t, it’s bitter and undrinkable. Because of that, I’d never buy any, but because Sil gave it to me, I am enjoying a cup now, and have enough for one cup later on. Today it’s almost perfect. I’m getting jammy strawberries and other warm fruits, and it’s only slightly bitter. I count that as a win.
It’s so disappointing! When I first had it, it was SO GOOD. I would have been very upset if I had bought a tin based on that cup!
Thanks VariaTEA for letting me try these teas again. I was actually disappointed with this as it didn’t really taste like much. I prefer the S’mores, or the Strawberry versions a lot more!
Still, that’s good to know! (210)
I drank this today using my free tea from joining the Frequent Steepers club at DAVIDS, and asked that they make it a hot latte.
OMG. Really. I immediately walked back in and bought 100g of this beauty and I plan to make tons of lattes with it.

Oh yum!
You know, every time I see your name, I have to look closer. There’s a band called Corvus Corax. I haven’t listened to them in a while, but I think I will now.
This is one of the many surprise teas that Sil sent me, buried in a box full of tins from Davids as a silly birthday present (which I love!)
I’m drinking this so I don’t have to add it to my cupboard. I have a lot to add. I’ve had a few people visit me this week and they all brought tea! YAY!
So this is a really nice black tea. I really am going to have to try Capital Teas at some point, once I make a bit of a dent in my unflavoured black collection! I’m tasting an interesting spice but it’s hard to describe what it is. Malt? Cinnamon? Nutmeg? I should resteep it for longer to see if I can tease those chocolate notes out!
Thanks Sil!

VariaTEA gave me this because I wanted to fall in love with these genmaicha’s again and I’m drinking it now so that I don’t have to log it into my cupboard! Ha!
I am really enjoying this. It’s warm, sweet, marshmallowy goodness. SO GOOD. So thank you for letting me try it again VariaTEA!
I drank this today courtesy of VariaTEA and our pre-arranged tea box drops – the stealthiest swap ever! It was a nice passionfruit blend that I enjoyed, but it didn’t wow me enough to make me want more. Still, I’m very happy to have tried it because there are lots of Nina’s teas I enjoy and I need some way to narrow it down!
Thanks Courtney for allowing me to steal a small sample of this from your stash! it was just as dark and rich and chocolatey as I imagined and I can totally see how this is the perfect base for the Chocolate Chip tea.
OMG. Just. It’s so good.
Thanks! (157)
