15 Tasting Notes
OHHHH YEAH.
This is the best thing to come out of the advent calendar so far for me. I will undoubtedly buy a tin & keep this in stock.
It’s like liquid comfort (but without the calories of hot chocolate), slightly fruity, slightly cinnamony, slightly nutty, slightly earthy. Just enough of each to be perfect.
Unlike everyone (?) else, I don’t get apple pie from the scent of this. It smells more like the hippy shop I used to frequent as a teen.
I can taste a little of the apple pie that people mention, but the overriding taste is still hippy shop, which is good because I love that taste/smell.
My skin is pretty rotten. I’ll update if I notice any difference from regular consumption of The Glow.
Well David’s Tea have done it, they’ve made a black tea that I really, really like, it’s a first!
I’m drinking it with unsweetened almond milk and a teeny bit of agave and it’s perfect. Smooth, sweet, little hint of warming cinnamon. This might just be the first black tea I will keep ‘in stock’.
I bought this tea by accident yesterday, I only went in for a ‘tea for one’ set. Then I enquired what was in Pink Flamingo because the name was fun, but I don’t like grapefruit, the lady suggested I sniff the Strawberry Rhubarb and then of course I had to have it.
Dry, it smells INCREDIBLE. Same goes for steeped. However, the taste didn’t grab me, it was pleasant enough but I think drinking something so fruity in December is wrong.
Iced in the summer would probably be fabulous.
For an earl grey (which I generally can’t stand) this is drinkable. If I’d had some vanilla I would have turned it into a London Fog, but I didn’t, so I drank half a cup and poured the rest away. I think one day I’ll be grown up enough to like earl grey, but not yet, maybe it’ll be around the same time I’ll suddenly start drinking sherry.
I’ve said it before, I’m not great with black teas (I’m a bad Brit), but this is delightful. Not too bitter an aftertaste, can pick up the caramel in scent and taste and the salt keeps it from being toooooo sweet. I’m drinking mine with unsweetened almond milk.
Not sure if I would buy it myself but it was a nice treat to get in the 24 days of tea.
I went upstairs and left this to steep in the kitchen, when I came back downstairs a few minutes later the whole downstairs smelled of black forest gateaux. The taste did not quite live up to the smell for me, next time I will drink it as a latté with almond milk.
However! It definitely woke me up, it was much more stimulating than the chai guarana that I bought specifically for that purpose.
