This is an Oolong I have bought while in Dammann’s tea shop Place des Vosges 3 weeks ago.
I wanted to rebuy the Châtaigne Oolong so did I. But while at the desk when the young woman asked me if I wanted something else….aww….of course I didn’t expect my mouth to say…“and what do you have as really good Oolongs ?” but this mouth did it…

The young lady told me she was Madame Green Japanese and Madame Oolong teas in the shop and we had a very pleasant discussion about Oolongs.
As I wasn’t able to choice between all the ones she proposed, I asked her which Oolong (Dammann of course) was her favourite one and she indicated Teguanyin Green Oolong as such.
So decided to go for it. Last time while at Theodor I left the very sympathic lady choice the tea for me and I have such a lovely surprise that the tea she choiced for me is now one of my staple.

So the tea : no temperature indications on Dammann’s website…and I put my tea in a tin and dropped the bag…let’s go for 90°C and I respected the 5 minutes steeping required.

The liquor is a pale golden yellow and smells flowery and buttery.
Drinking it, it is yes flowery, really much flowery rather than woody – my experience is in contradiction with Dammann Frères’s description. But there is not a problem for me as Iove floral types as I love woody and roasty types.
I have the impression to detect rose notes. It is a mild mellow green Oolong not as much mellow.
It is very well balanced between the nutty and buttery note and the floral note.

I am really enjoying this smooth mug. Thank you for the advice Madame Oolong :)

Preparation

First, please forgive me for my English and all the grammatical mistakes you’ll find in my posts.
As English isn’t my mother tongue it sometimes makes things more difficult to express cleverly and accurately what I feel.

I was mainly in black flavoured teas, green as well if not bitter.
I’m now drinking much straight teas because my palate is now developed enough to appreciate them .

My favourite brands are : Taiwan tea Crafts, Teavivre, Mariage Frères,Theodor,Butiki Teas,Dammann Frères, Betjeman & Barton.
My ratings are as follow :

100 to 95 : my darlings; always in my cupboard (or very often ! )

94 to 90 : Excellent tea

89 to 80 : very good tea, a pleasure to drink it

79 to 70: not bad even quite nice, why not having it sometimes, but well,it’s not so urgent !

69 to 50 : Meh, deceptive or just not for me – but has some qualities

49 to 30 : I just don’t appreciate it

Under 30 : is this thing supposed to be tea ?!?!?
