40 Tasting Notes

This is a lovely rooibos tea, nice and light. There’s a lot of sweetness to it already, which means that it doesn’t really require much, if anything, in the way of sweetener. That’s a definite upside to me, since I’m in a mood where I want sweet things, but don’t actually have anything in my apartment to satisfy the craving.

It makes me sad that I’ll likely only be able to get one last cup of this out of the advent calendar tin, since it really is a lovely tea.

This may be one for the shopping list.

The smell of this tea alone is entirely enchanting to me. I love the scent of amaretto.

I find that this tea does not have much in the way of colour when it steeps and I often find that I steep it longer to accommodate this fact.
It works well with a touch of sweetener, though I often forget that I am allowed to sweeten my teas and tend to drink them straight. That being said, it’s also quite nice on its own.
Even with my extended steep time, I find that it still retains a nice light flavour.

Got this tea in my advent calendar today and I brewed up a thermos full so I wouldn’t have to keep going to the kitchen for another cup.
I really love the way that the flavours in this tea work together; personally I’m a big fan of the way the coconut works here.

I don’t feel that I can currently, or ever will be able to give a fair assessment of this tea. Caffeine, even caffeine from tea does terrible things to me so I can’t brew up enough of this tea to really get a feel for it like I can with others.
I was a little disappointed to get a stimulant in my advent calendar, but then again, most people don’t have my caffeine related difficulties. C’est la vie!

I did enjoy the way the raspberries worked in this tea, I found them subtle at first and stronger as an aftertaste. It didn’t taste like most of the other chocolate teas that I’ve had before which was a nice change.
Overall it was a nice tea, but the flavour alone is not enough to make me keep coming back to it in spite of how much caffeine it has.

I think my tiny advent calendar tin will have that second serving of tea in it for quite a while right now.

I unfortunately oversteeped this tea on my second taste, so the flavour isn’t quite what it was the first time I had it.

The flavour of this tea is quite nice, or at least it was last time when I paid attention to how long I had the tea bag in there. This time I actually did manage to fully appreciate the reason why it’s called Buttered Rum. There was a moment when I was drinking where I just sat there and thought “This tastes exactly like the lifesavers I used to get when I was little.” So I suppose the Folks at DAVIDs deserves some sort of recognition for that.

I’ve used up all of this tea that came in my advent calendar now. I am unsure as to whether I will be purchasing some of it to add to my collection more permanently or not yet. Still, a nice tea all the same.

I’ve accepted that cold remedy teas are not going to be quite as delicious as others that I drink regularly for no reason. However, going to Cold 911 from the Gail’s Organic Cold Remedy is a vast improvement in my opinion.

I don’t find that the peppermint overwhelms anything, but then again, I drink a lot of straight peppermint, so I suppose I’m a little more attuned to the different flavours that are present.

Coming out of the tin this tea smells powerful. It reminds me a little of menthol to be honest, but it’s designed to destroy colds, so a little menthol-scent isn’t a bad thing.
With cold season just around the corner, here’s hoping that I don’t get quite as disenchanted with this one as I did with the other cold remedy from DAVIDs.
