694 Tasting Notes
This is a tea I had in the Steepster Select box that I really enjoyed and left it on my wishlist. TeaSipper was nice enough to send me a sample pouch of it in our swap. Thank you! I get to enjoy this one more time.
This is another great green oolong that I am really enjoying. With a lot of green oolongs I start to get a bitter after taste. With this one it is just smooth, floral, and buttery. I get none of the after taste that leaves me iffy about a tea. Maybe I need to explore Four Season oolons a bit more? For as much as I like oolongs and as many varieties that are out there I have yet to fully explore this area of tea to its fullest. I have been eyeing some of TeaVivre’s sample packs, and What-cha tea seems to have some great priced sample packs. It may be a project for the spring!
Earlier this summer I got in a straight black tea blend mood. I ended up purchasing a few blended blacks for H & S with my order. I then attempted to drink all blends for H & S next to each other and try to compare. I am not sure if it was the day, or the way I was making tea, or the tea itself but all of the blends tasted so similar I couldn’t pick out anything to distinguish them. Usually when doing side by side comparisons you can definitely tell. On that day I tasted :
Irish Breakfast
Supreme Breakfast
Elain’s Blend
30th Anniversary
Queen Catherine.
Eight at the Fort
The only teas I remember being able to somewhat pick out were the 30th Anniversary and Queen Catherine.
I am sitting down with this tea now. No comparison. I am enjoying it, but there is nothing jumping out at me. It almost taste like there could be an oolong blended in here? It is more smooth and not harsh like some breakfast blends. It has sweet rounded edges and not the astringent finish. I am glad I was able to try this one, but this not a tea I need to have a tin of.
We took my sis to Prydes this weekend. If you are ever in the KC area and love to shop kitchen stores you should stop in. This place is nuts. Although I think the owner must be a hoarder? I should take a picture of the tea cup shelves and post it on here. They seemed to have everything. They also carried the Hugo Teas so I bought a tin of this.
I have been enjoying Celestial Seasoning Sleepy Time tea this past week and so when I came across this in the store I thought it would be a good tea to purchase and try. I like it. It is a good blend of chamomile, lemon and mint. No one flavor out powers the other and it is well blended with the chamomile. Perfect bed time cup.
I do have to say that I really do not like the tins these teas come in. The top gets stuck and there are some times where I want a cup of Hugo teas and I give up b/c I can’t get the tin open. There are two lids to the tin and I finally started throwing away the top lid b/c it gets so stuck. Oh well it looks cute but is not very functional.Oh no boychik. Have you ever been able to get it open? I have had to use a knife to pry the thing off. I finally stopped putting the top lid back on or storing the tea in a different tin.
This tea is from my secret pumpkin Cheri. Thank you!
It is coming! I have the chills, the aches, and the scratchy throat. This will probably be the last session of nice tea I will get to have for a few days. 2 months without getting sick. That is a record since my daughter was born. Hopefully this bug will pass fast and the tea awesomeness will be able to continue.
I enjoyed this tea while doing my meal prep for the week. This is such a lovely tea. It is not as milky as a few milk oolongs that I have had, but it is buttery, floral and sweet. This tea has just kept giving and giving and giving. I brewed this in the beautiful new gaiwan that Cheri also sent. Unfortunately I did not get any pictures. I will try to get one next time. I can’t wait to spend some more time with this tea.
It’s not the best milk oolong out there, but it does keep on giving for many infusions. I think it is very buttery and floral, and I really like it.
This is a sample from NayLynn. Thank you.
I saw all the post about this tea earlier this year and almost looked into buying some while it was sold online, but I really didn’t think a rooibos could be sooo amazing. Boy was I wrong. This is amazing. I have been cutting back on caffeine at night and so I have been looking into teas that I can drink in the evening. This is so delicious. I made this last night before bed and added 1/2 tsp of sugar to a 12ishoz mug of this. This is juicy, and really does taste like honey dew melon. If this ever comes back online count me in!
I am sipping on a cup of this to start the morning off today. The dark chocolate smell wafting from the cup had my mouth watering even before it was done steeping. The taste, never disappoints. Chocolate, and caramel. Just pure yum in a cup.
I will be honest the new version of this tea scares me a bit. Once you find a tea you love and crave any slight change to the tea is noticeable. It has Brandon’s stamp of approval so I will have blind faith that I will love it just as much. There is 1-2 servings left of this tea so I should probably place another order soonish.

I had a two cup sample of this tea that I made up tonight. Without trying this tea I was already comparing this to Della Terra’a version. I brewed this up with milk and sugar. This just seemed to be a red rooibos with a hint of lemon. For being a Lemon rooibos it could have used a dose or two more of lemon.
I bought this tea from LuciTea last winter. Thank you.
I really enjoy dark oolongs, but I think Red Robe has to be my least favorite. This has hints of mineral, earth and carmel. This as a less tangy/fruity bite too it than and lot of the similar oolons. I have at least 1/2 ounce left of this. I will have to compare with the other Red Robe I own.
