694 Tasting Notes
Its Christmas. The first time I drank this tea was at Christmas time so I was thinking about this tea on my way in this morning. I am still madly in love with this tea. I still can’t tell you what it taste like, other than good. I see mention of a Damman Freres group buy. Count me in if anyone gets a wild hair again.
The tea of the morning. The first thing I noticed about this tea is the slight smokiness and he more savory feel to it, than the East Frisian I have been drinking for the last few days. This is a combination of Assam + Keemun. This is smooth, more so than I would have thought. I am getting very little astringency surprisingly. After a few sips the cocoa notes from the keemun kick in and the Assam rounds out the flavor with a tad hint of malt. This is good, but I don’t think this is my favorite breakfast blend form H&S.
Sipdown 2 of 2015. H&S Sample Pouch. Finished 12/2015 – Purchased 3/2015.
This is the last of the sample pouch. This is a great morning cup. This will definitely be in my next H&S order. Bold, complex, and delicious with or without milk. I like the blend of the teas that make up this one. I have enjoyed all 4 cups that the sample provided so it has withstood a small test of time:)
Oh my this is good. I am home so I am making this gong fu style. It is so sweet and it has the deeper coaco notes that I also really like. I bought only a sample of this. I wanted to do some comparing of the different teavire black teas. I want to drink this beside balin gong fu to see what the differences are. I havne’t had balin in so long I couldn’t tell you what I think they are. I will prepare a cup of each of them western style tomorrow to see which one is my favorite. So far this is a really good cup that I will get to enjoy for today.
I haven’t had this one in a long time and by the looks of it, I have never logged it. This is a STRONG cup of EG. I have also had this one for quite awhile so I know the strong cup I am tasting is actually a lot less strong than it use to be too. This packs a berg punch. This morning it is quite a delicious tea. A pretty solid base, could use a little more upmph, but solid. Looks like Hugo teas might be changing it up a bit…. Full Steam looks to be no longer and the current black tea is out of stock. Hmm will have to check the coffee shop down the street and see what they have in store.
They have been showing up at more stores around the area lately. I grabbed some last week from either HyVee or Price Chopper – can’t recall which.
I saw someone on here keeping track of their sipdowns for the year. I really like this idea. I have tried to keep track of my tea drinking in an excel sheet, but then I get focused on working out or work, or meal planning and then tea stats fall to the waist side. Something I do fairly regularly though is notes on Steepster and keeping my cupboard up to date. So logging sipdowns on here should be easy. Starting 2 weeks early for 2016…..
Sipdown 1 of 2015 – small sample. Purchased 11/2015 – Finished 12/2015.
This tea is delicious and to be honest if the Mad Hatter puts out some awesome sounding blends here soon I may have to grab a 1/2 ounce of this tea. It is light, creamy and vanillay while offering a slight hint of something tart. Apple maybe? Either way I am taken to that peaceful place with this tea and really enjoy it. I don’t normally enjoy flavored oolongs so this is saying a lot for this one. In LOVE with this one.
I ran myself out of HT English breakfast over thanksgiving so this has been my go to travel cup while away visiting family on the weekends. I have been adding a few splashes of milk to this one and man it is a sweet flavorful treat in the mornings. I think I will continue to utilize H&S sachets for travel. Good tea with no fuss.
I received my Teavire BF teas yesterday. I was sad to see that the samples I picked out were not included:( Did anyone else have any trouble with the checkout and samples? I was really looking forward to trying the strawberry oolong and I think my browser must have messed up the submission.
YES!!!!! This is exactly what I was hoping for. I ran myself out of Fugian Black tea from WP and I loved it. I did a ton of looking around to learn what varietal of tea FB was actually made of only to learn that this years crop of that varietal sucked due to weather related things. Anyway, I stumbled up on this tea on Teavire’s site and although it was still harvested in 2015 I thought well what the heck since it came in sample sizes.
This morning this is a little light, hopefully some more leaves will fix that, but the flavor is there. That deep coaco sweet flavor that I LOVE. This is my version of hot chocolate. I am so glad I ordered some of this!
This is a red wrapped TGY that I received from LP Thank you!
I haven’t had TGY in a long time. This particular session is wonderful. Slightly creamy, slightly roasted? No bitterness that I sometimes get. I will be working on this all night. Working late in and effort to make some progress while people aren’t around to interrupt.
