694 Tasting Notes
I had this tea a day or so ago and something about it, I still can’t put my finger on it, just struck me really wrong. Maybe a spice I couldn’t place? Maybe the base? Maybe the combination of everything? I don’t know but I was really looking forward to this one and I just wasn’t enjoying it. I am glad it is a favorite of quite a few out there, but not my cup of tea.
Well this is a nice slap in the face this morning. Damn that has a kick. I have learned as an adult to get up when the body tells you to get up, that maybe an hour before your alarm clock goes off, it maybe 30 mins. Never ever go back to sleep b/c you have an hour before your alarm will go off. This morning I ignored that tried and true logic. I am paying dearly. Waking up mid sleep cylce is pretty much like trying to start a car in -1000 degree weather. This cup is doing a great job of jumping starting the engine. Its got a kick but this is one of those cups where I think a little milk would make it a better cup. Not a love but a great cup.
This is a great cup this morning. I have really been craving hearty teas in the mornings these days. I am done to one assam in my cupboard minus a few samples. I have seen a lot of good things about this one on the chat boards lately so thought I would bust it out. I am really digging this one. It is a tastey blend of assam and ?. I could definitely see picking up a tin of this sometime soon.
This has been my tea of the week. I wake up thinking about it and am excited to get to work to make a cup. It has been the perfect addition to my morning. It even received tin status this week.
I just ordered a sample of this one! My box from Joseph Wesley arrived yesterday so this may have to be the first one I try. If you wake up thinking about it then it must be good. :)

Ahh, tin status, haha! I was thinking about upgrading a couple teas to a tin this week…love the term. :P
@Shae, I hope you like it! It is a pretty good keemun. @boychik- I was eyeing these, but I have told myself no more tea until Feb! @Mike- I finally broke down and ordered a crap ton of H&S 4oz black tins. I love having my favorites in tins. Much easier access, then my sealed bags in a box somewhere.
Nice! I’ll have to invest in more…I have a few tins, but not nearly enough! I’m buying the Harney and Sons English Breakfast, and one or two teas at a local place near my sister’s house, then nothing until February, haha!
Oh yum! Okay this seals the deal. Sometime in 2016 I need to subscribe to the 10$ per month Teabox club. Everything I have tried from them, thanks to DonkeyTiera, has been fantastic and always surprisingly so. Part of it is that I really do like bold Indian tea in the morning and the other part of it is that it is just good tea.
This cup is rich, malty, with a creamy/fruity hint to it. There is also that ketchupy flavor that I sometimes get in tea that really doesn’t taste like ketchup but that I have no idea how to describe. A great cup for the morning.
