NAILED IT. I brewed this with the intention of trying it as an iced tea, then immediately turning it in to an alcoholic beverage (recipe below). As a tea, I would want to steep it less and maybe add one sugar. It was very tart and full-bodied, but not sour or rough on the palate.
As Sangria, it is PERFECT. If I wanted to have an alcohol-free Sangria, I would simply brew this and ice it.
How I made an awesome Sangria:
1/2 cup of Sangria (tea)
1/2 cup of Merlot
2oz of Sprite.
Serve over ice.
Next time, I want to try with a White Wine base. For the Sangria, I made it with 2 teaspoons in 5oz of water and steeped for 6 minutes. I let it cool in the fridge. No sugar added. It’s PERFECT!

How I acquired a sample of this tea is kind of interesting… I had really hoped to go see this play in Stratford with a friend, but couldn’t make it work financially, so I had to bail on her. I wanted to “apologize” for cancelling, so I mailed this to her and at least she could enjoy the tea. Naturally, before I sent it off, I stole a sample first :|
Now, to the tea… It was nice. Given the ingredients and aroma, it steeped exactly how I expected it would. It was citrusy. What struck me is that (in spite of knowing it is an herbal blend), I was absolutely convinced there is Yerba Mate in there. There isn’t, It just really tasted like a Mate with fruit to me… I wouldn’t buy it again, but I did think it was okay.

The first reviews of many teas I received from my SIL for Christmas. She works in a small tea shop and totally spoiled me. This one had a lot more Green teas blended-in than I expected, but it steeped more like a White. The liquor was a translucent, light gold colour and brewed beautifully. It wasn’t cream per se, but it was very smooth. The lemon wasn’t too tart. Certainly a tea I enjoyed.

If you’re looking for an Amaretto/Marzipan tea, THIS would be the one to try. I received this in a gift set with Berry Almond Amaretto and feel like perhaps they mis-named both blends. The aroma of both the leaves and the liquor is potent (and smell like Amaretto)and the infusion didn’t disappoint. It was fruity, lightly tart and nutty. I really enjoyed it hot. This is a blend I would LOVE to experiment with and try baking with it, however my hubby is allergic to nuts and I plan on keeping him around…

I didn’t know what to expect, but I was happy with what I got. It was well-rounded on the palate and neither too tart nor too sweet. I had this around Christmas and it felt right with the season. I received it in a gift set, but wouldn’t be able to buy again as my better-half is allergic to nuts. I would recommend it, though. It was great hot, seems like it would be nice iced, and would blend well with other teas.

Not as advertised. Given the name and the aroma of the dry blend, this infusion aims to disappoint. It didn’t brew with an Amaretto flavour, but it did come out unpleasantly tart. Thankfully, this was part of a gift set and not something I had large quantities of. Wouldn’t buy nor recommend.

I didn’t love this tea. It came in a gift set I got and it was much more coconut than chocolate (acknowledging that chocolate isn’t always prominent in tea to begin with). I would still give it a decent rating, because if I look past the coconut aftertaste I don’t like, the blend of Oolong and Mate was nice and it seems like a decent quality blend.

Another one my (non tea drinking) better-half loves! WIN! This tea also puts a dent in my “I don’t really like teas with coconut in them” theory… This is a light and fruity blend and the coconut makes it creamy as well. I enjoy it hot and iced. I would certainly buy it again. I didn’t get the same aftertaste I have gotten from other teas with coconut in them. This is the first blend that isn’t an herbal infusion that my hubby will drink, so that says a lot. I expected it to be slightly more tart based on the name, but I am happy with how it tastes.

This blend just may have converted my hubby to drinking iced teas all summer (he’s really not a tea drinker)! I haven’t had it hot yet, but as an iced infusion, it is so tasteful and refreshing! It is full-bodied, but not too tart for me. I have been making it with only one tsp of sugar (per 16 oz) which seems perfect for us. I served it at a BBQ we hosted, to other non-tea-drinkers, and it was a huge hit! Seems to be great for everyone and the Lime is a nice change from the ever-popular lemon blends.

I discovered the beauty of loose-leaf tea 6 years ago and I’ll never look back. Have yet to meet I cup of (loose-leaf) tea that I didn’t like.

My profile picture is a cup of Matcha in my hand-painted mug I made at a pottery place that says “Tea warms my heart.”

I work with children, American Sign Language is almost my second language, I love Jesus. My better-half & I volunteer with the homeless, and I spend my free time relaxing at home and enjoying the “little things.” Life is good.
