737 Tasting Notes
Saw a few different reviews for this tea on H&S Appreciation Day. So I had to try it, of course. :P And I’m sooooooo glad I ordered this one!
It definitely has an earthy bent to it, kinda one of those teas where the after taste reminds me of hay. xD That doesn’t sound nice, does it?
But it has a mild malty taste with hints of cocoa when you drink it. It’s just they hay-ish aftertaste that throws me off a bit. It’s a good tea though! I’ll probably get more. (:
Now I can understand why everyone seemed to write about this tea on H&S Appreciation Day!
Flavors: Cocoa, Hay, Malt
I generally try and avoid weddings, but if this tea were being served at a wedding, I’d definitely go. This tea would be worth all the sappiness I don’t like at weddings. XD
It smells so strong, like a lemon cake.
The taste is a bit lighter, but just as creamy and delicious a lemon pie would taste. Not too sour or overwhelming. The lemon and vanilla combo is absolutely heavenly in this tea. Goodness, I love this tea.
If you like lemon desserts then you definitely gotta try this tea! I can’t wait to get more than a sample of it ^^
Flavors: Cream, Lemon, Vanilla
It’s definitely worth it if you like lemon desserts! (: So creamy…and ugh it’s so good. Not as strong with the second steep though, but that’s okay. It’s still wonderful! ^^
Got my H&S order today ^^ So excited. And all the teas smell fantastic. Can’t wait to try them all. And had to try an Assam first of course!
This one was definitely not as strong as I hoped. It’s kinda malty. Slightly sweet, not as much without the honey/malt combo. But glad I tried it, and didn’t buy more than that. xD Think I also got another Assam with my order…maybe that will be stronger.
Flavors: Malt, Sweet
Yeah, I haven’t really found a CTC I’ve enjoyed yet…But maybe I just have too many misconceptions about it that make me subconsciously dislike all the CTC’s I’ve had, even when they were not bad. :P
Thought this was gonna be stronger, but it was still good. I don’t like teas that only taste like honey, but I love teas with the perfect combo of honey and malt. Also pretty chocolatey. So it’s definitely a win!
Black teas are always gonna amaze me, I tell ya! I still think it’s crazy how much flavor black teas have. I never even tried them because I thought they’d just taste like…I don’t know…Wood or something….Which makes like 0 sense. But I’m not too bright.
Haha I’m just so glad that I have come to realize how freakin’ magical black teas can be! Anyway, this tea is definitely a win! I have a bad feeling I’m gonna spend a lot of money on these WP teas. I blame TheTeaFairy…she makes all of the WP teas sound amazing. But hey, least her reviews are spot on! :P
Flavors: Chocolate, Honey, Malt
This will be even a lamer note than my last. Wasn’t paying tons of attention to this cup of tea because I was working on a new Steampunk gun. But I can at least tell you that it makes a delicious cup of roasty goodness. ^^ So much better than the last Genmaicha I tried! Thanks, Cameron B. for letting me know about the Den’s Tea sampler! I’ll be sad when I can no longer steep this tea bag.
Flavors: Roasted
Heh, when I read the description on Steepster of this tea I lost my inspiration to write a note. I don’t taste any citrus or orange blossom. Not sure I really taste any of the other things in the description, other than nutty. xD
I blame it on allergies…just screwing up what I taste and smell. When I tasted this tea all I could think about was salted peanuts. It’s so roasty and nutty. Just how most of the oolongs I love taste.
But Now I’m really hungry. And want peanuts. >>
Flavors: Nuts, Peanut, Roasted, Salt
It’s kinda weird to try an oolong that isn’t roasty or floral tasting. It definitely tasted like hazelnut, with a hint of vanilla. So different than what I’m used to…But I really like it! :D
It’s a light, smooth flavor. So makes it even more different than I’m used to. But still good. (:
Thanks for the sample, Mandy! ^^
Didn’t taste much toffee to be honest, unless the taste of toffee is really off in my head. xD Which could be the case since I haven’t had it in forever. :p
It does taste a bit like toffee, but I’m getting a more buttery taste.
Kinda weird. Not sure what to think!
Thanks for the sample, Mandy! (:
Flavors: Butter, Toffee
Oh my word!! FINALLY trying this tea! Super stoked.
I’ll write a better note later when I’m not in tons of pain. Definitely tasting the chocolate and malt. Not noticing tons of vanilla actually, but I’m pretty sure that’s just because my pain is really distracting me today. I really love this tea though. I’m so so happy I finally got to try it! Whispering Pines really is awesome! :D I can’t wait to try more teas from them. Will definitely have to put in a bigger order later in the year.
I totally understand the hype now!! ^^
Flavors: Dark Chocolate, Malt
I didn’t get a lot of vanilla from it, either. Adding a little sugar helped, but I’d rather not add anything to a tea that’s so tasty on its own. :)
:) The vanilla isn’t really supposed to be at the forefront of this tea. It’s supposed to add a creamy aspect and greatly enhance the cocoa notes :)
So glad you like it, though! :D
Ah, I see. Well either way, I still really love this tea!! I gotta get more soon! :D
And thanks, mj! (: You will totally love this tea! :D
MMMMM Hay :p
I know, that sounds really bad, huh? XD
Hahahahaa no. It’s just one of the great things about tea. I never thought I’d like a tea that smells like a campfire, but it was really good. :)
Haha it’s crazy what you end up liking! XD
