Formerly Chai Te, I had the pleasure of visiting Portal Tea Company and was delighted not only at the breadth and quality of the selection, but also the size of the shop. I was able to pick up a good quantity of a few teas pretty cheaply and enjoy a generous cup prepared hot in one of the more private nooks. The diversity of the seating gives you a lot to choose from in terms of comfort, party size, and views.

Coffee and tea served all day, combination wine bar by night – The Oak House is an intimate, sophisticated stop for refreshments and a little remote work. I enjoyed a cup of hot hojicha at my computer just a short walk from the DPAC and the many wonders of downtown Durham.

I walked in with a clear target of one, maybe two, teas I thought might be in stock. The inventory was much more expansive and tantalizing than I anticipated and immediately scattered my radar. I left with a shopping bag full to the top with tea and honey and a delicious, freshly-brewed cup. The staff is knowledgeable and patient and armed to the gills with possibility.
