Thanks to Helen11 for this lovely sample!

First off it smells quite lovely…although it was packed with Davids Tea Main Sqeeze as well, lol…but we’re definitely off to a wonderful start:)

Brewed…well I couldn’t quite taste anything sweet or fruity about it…just tea. I did about 1DTP worth (a slight bit less then level since I have only enough for two cups worth). I am glad though I didn’t really taste any of the artificial flavoring (which has been happening often for me with Davids Tea unfortunately :( ).

I wouldn’t mind ordering a small amount of this next time I place a Davids Tea order just to test it over the long term.

Oh my gosh! I can’t believe no one has rated this one yet! I’m glad to be the first:) I can’t believe it took me so long to try this one (well I did have a million others I wanted to try from swaps and purchases SOO…..). I tried rating it on their website but it was over 500 characters, lol! So, I came here instead – I would have come here anyway but I know companies like it when there are reviews right on their website.

I’m going to give you two words….pure bliss.

It’s a simple blend of gunpowder green tea and peppermint.

This blend is simply delicious! It reminds me of Tazo Zen green tea blend (which I also really like). There is a nice balance of both the green tea and peppermint. I’m usually not a huge fan of peppermint (toothpaste, gum, etc) but this is so well done I love the minty aftertaste it has. Well… maybe not “aftertaste” but “lingering essence” maybe? Aftertaste seems a negative connotation. No silly artificial flavorings added or spicy stuff (like Davids Tea North African Mint Green – the closest thing they seem to have to a “mint green” unfortunately:(…it’s not bad but just not exactly what I was looking for like with this one).

I steeped 2tsp in a large Thumper mug I have from Disney. I used my Davids Tea Timer/thermometer and filled have the cup with boiled water…waited for the temp cool down. When it beeped (at 159) I put in the tea bag and the rest of the hot water (but it stayed around 170 instead of the 160 that is recommended …oh well it still tastes amazing).

Whenever I get access to updating this tea’s information I shall update it:)

I got this as a sample from my recent swap with LIT:) It’s decent. I taste more black tea then blueberry but I didn’t get any bitterness at all. It was smooth. I sooo tried this one first from my package as soon as I smelled it. It smells so wonderful!

drank Cookie Dough by DAVIDsTEA

I have no idea what my steep time on this one was…I used the break room hot water (from water cooler) and left it to steep for awhile. It’s palatable…but not amazing. I definitely get a sense of cookie dough and it feels like it clings to my tongue and roof of my mouth…like it’s a separate entity from the water/tea. I’m not rating it now since it wasn’t done in a controlled manner.

So my Davids Tea order came today and I’ve already had three different cups of tea, lol!

This is cup #3 for me…
I like the strong flavor profile on this one. I enjoy tart drinks and this fits the bill. It’s fruity and flavorful. Although I’m not 100% sure about the yogurt(parfait) side of this tea. I can definitely taste its yogurty creaminess but it tastes like…yogurt bits that come in prepackaged food…to me it kind of makes it taste…weird. I was hoping for a different kind of creaminess but this tastes just like yogurt bits, lol. I used 2DPT for about 10oz…cause my tea cup I believe holds 8 oz but this one fills up a little more. I’m not sure how I’m supposed to follow company steeping reccomendations when the DPT is more then a real teaspoon, lol! Perhaps I should measure it out someday, eh? LOL!

I don’t think the water that comes out of our office water cooler is hot enough. I taste lots of black tea and the malty-ness comes off on the very end. I wish it was malt bally all the way through…cause I love Whoppers! Dry is smells delish and steeped it’s just a bit mellower. The dry leaves do look “wet” as antoher Steepster put it…I was afraid they really were, lol! It was somewhat yummy but…like I said the parameters that may make it extra yummy were off.

I’m going by smilies on my ratings so the numbers may not be that high. I took 4tsp (for 16oz) and steeped at boiling for about 4 minutes (boiling for me is between 195 and 200). I think it may have been too long. This is my first attempt with this one and I’m dissapointed with it. I get an overwhelmingly taste of tea/playdoh (where that comes from I have no idea! maybe the rooibos?). I taste a little blueberry and slight hint of creaminess…but the tea/playdoh taste is overpowering. I don’t know if I added to much or steeped for too long but right now it’s not living up to its name:( Nothing like Strawberry Zabaglione by 52 teas. I’ll update my rating with future steepings.

Strange. Those are the approximate parameters I use, and it tastes quite delicious :(

Love, love, love this tea!

It’s got an initial taste of strawberries then is rounded out by a creamy sweet goodness (custardy?). I can also taste the black tea on the side…it’s a nice balance. I love custards and creams and all I can say “MMMMM…”. Although I wish all black teas used in blends were assam, whatever this one was works beautifully.

Thanks for the sample Starfevre! I used the rest of the sample this morning (the other I used yesterday…it was just too good not to have again, lol!) It prompted me to buy the last bag on Frank’s website that’s been available for the last week (although I debated for awhile if I really needed to spend more money, haha). I also appreciated the steeping reccomendations…I may try that on my other 52teas to see if it makes them taste better. Yummy Yummy!

Dry notes : smells very fruity:)
Steeped : smells fruity and creamy:)

I could barely finish this stuff.
I don’t think I’m a fan of this roasted rice stuff.
I was only able to get down a few sips.
Thanks Ellen for this generous amount but this isn’t my cup of tea:(
If anyone is a fan of toasted rice teas I’m open for a swap:)

I think I may have steeped this one too long or used too much. I filled my 16oz with 4 “regular” tsp, hot water, and steeped for 6 minutes (the recommendation is 4-7 minutes). It tastes horrid! I’m going to try and choke it down but it really tastes like drinking lemon peel …bleh. I wish I had some sweetener:( I’ll adjust my rating down the road b/c the previous time I’ve had this it hasn’t been that bad.

Profile

Bio

I live in Boise, Idaho…home of the Boise State Broncos:) I’m a newbie to the tea scene and trying to get my hands on various kinds of tea to try them all. I enjoy reading, listening to music, and watching various television shows.
My current TV obsession is Parks and Recreation:-D I also love The Middle, Modern Family, Simpsons, The Neighbors, Vampire Diaries, and Game of Thrones.

My Steepster rating details ….

75-100 : Pretty awesome stuff, will pursue many a cup.

50-75 : Decent, will brew more in the future just not all the time

25-50 : Ehhh…Doesn’t really stand out, probably won’t pursue another cup unless I have to use up the supply.

1-25 : UGH! Won’t drink again. Enough said.

I seem to be a harsh critic when it comes to tea tasting it seems! A tea that has gotten rave reviews doesn’t seem to suit me. I just have to keep trying everything out there to find out what does! Thanks for all your insight Steepsters!
