58 Tasting Notes

I’d consider this average.
I can barely taste any spiciness and the chocolate is barely there. I used 3tsp (normal ones not any specialty “perfect” tsp) to 16 fl.oz from a sample I got from Ellyn. Thank you for this bonus! The dry stuff smells intoxicating that I only wished carried over to the steeped tea.
It kinda tastes watery. Eating a chocolate cookie that a coworker brought in though brought up the yummy factor. I would suspect it was the sugar in the cookie that brought out the other flavors in the tea.

AFter letting it sit awhile (while I was away working) I now can taste the hit of spiciness from the peppers…and it’s been a few hours since my last sip. If I ever purchase this in the future I’ll have to play aruond with the ratio of tea to water…because man this is weak!

So I tried this tea for the first time today. I put it in my travel cup I got from work and used the precise temp that was reccomended. I steeped it for three minutes but IMO I don’t think that is long enough for this tea (even though it’s a mixture).

I ended up taking my first sip in the car on my way to work and burnt my togue…then spit it out (cause it was SO HOT) onto my legs and ended up burning my legs a little too. Suffice to say, I didn’t attempt another sip on the trip.

It’s not too bad…IMO it was kind of weak…the fruit flavors (orange) were kind of faint and it wasn’t that mind blowingly amazing. I think with a longer steep time I can coax out the flavor…if that comprises the green tea in this blend then so be it, lol!

Not to bad…

I took 1tsp and steeped it for about 3 minutes like the package said. It took a little while until the raspberry flavoring came through. I was hoping for a little more raspberry flavoring (VERY Raspberry is it not called?) but I’ll pry try steeping it for a bit longer or using more leaves b/c I can totally see myself digging this kind of tea since not alot of companies use Assam as the maing black tea they use in flavored teas. It’s got the usual Assam bold, rich, and smooth characteristics that make it great hot or iced.

Another tasty treat from 52Teas!

I can definitely taste the chocolate cakey-ness. I think with a little sweetener it would be spot on:)

Pretty tasty.

I get a big note of mintiness and then a soft roundness of something creamy (marshmellow perhaps?). It feels light and airy and if your going for a fog effect this fits the bill perfectly.

Eghhh…this isn’t my cup of tea.

I’m mostly tasting the rice puffs and maybe a little caramel. It reminds of watered down coffee. I used the entire sample (about 2.5tsp) and made about 14-16oz worth. I may have used too hot of water or for two long…but even if I had used different temp water I don’t think I’d like it…something about the rice puffs in it. I much prefer all the other samples I recieved:)

Yeah, I’m thinking brewing may have had an impact here! :) I used my entire sample for an 8oz. cup (although I didn’t measure it, I assumed it was about 1.5tsp), and since there was green tea in the blend, I went with 82C for only 2.5 min. I think 5 unfortunately might have been a bit long! Oh well! I did enjoy this one.

Smells lovely!

Tastes pretty good too…there is a nice balance with the fruity flavors and black tea. I wish it was just a tad bit stronger but then again I won’t have to ration out a little 1-2 tsp sample, lol.

Thanks Emilie for this bonus sample:)

I really enjoyed this tea:) It’s not mind blowingly amazing but it’s still good. You know what it reminds me of? Apple turnovers and pie…but I don’t think there is ANY apple in it, haha! I could taste a little chocolate and a soft bit of cinnamon (not as strong as Cinnamon Roll HB by 52teas) but very pleasant. I couldn’t really taste the green tea…but then again I wasn’t really drinking it for that part, lol. I steeped about 1tsp worth 0 that’s all I had…for 4 minutes and couldn’t really taste any of the chocolate so I put it back in for another 4 minutes…and yum!
I just may purchase some in the future. Woo!

I don’t despise this Pu-erh like I do with Naked Pu-erh. But it’s not amazing either. The flavoring takes off the normal earthy mushroomy pu-erh kick but it definitely still is the main player. I could barely taste any chocolate flavoring and I couldn’t even tell that there was any orange in it. The tea left a weird film/taste in my mouth that could have been from the artificial flavoring. The dry leaves smell pretty good though. Thanks Emilie!

Bio

I live in Boise, Idaho…home of the Boise State Broncos:) I’m a newbie to the tea scene and trying to get my hands on various kinds of tea to try them all. I enjoy reading, listening to music, and watching various television shows.
My current TV obsession is Parks and Recreation:-D I also love The Middle, Modern Family, Simpsons, The Neighbors, Vampire Diaries, and Game of Thrones.

My Steepster rating details ….

75-100 : Pretty awesome stuff, will pursue many a cup.

50-75 : Decent, will brew more in the future just not all the time

25-50 : Ehhh…Doesn’t really stand out, probably won’t pursue another cup unless I have to use up the supply.

1-25 : UGH! Won’t drink again. Enough said.

I seem to be a harsh critic when it comes to tea tasting it seems! A tea that has gotten rave reviews doesn’t seem to suit me. I just have to keep trying everything out there to find out what does! Thanks for all your insight Steepsters!
