drank Creamsicle by Pleasures of Tea

Got a sample of this from a friend a few months ago. I had a cup before and I don’t recall it tasting as savory as this. It’s almost broth like. I get a hint of orange, but nothing to make me think creamsicle. I’m getting soup base without the salt. Maybe it got contaminated by being too close to some other tea? Strange.

drank Chai Caramel Latte by Almost Tea

Still really liking this tea! Caramel on the nose, chai in the sip… it’s a pretty delicious cup. I’m having to pace myself because the cup is still too hot and I want to drink it quickly!

drank Carpe Diem by THEODOR

A friend bought this and didn’t like it, so I’m giving it a go. Not a fan of red rooibos, so it has that against it from the start. It has the faintest scent of spices. Cinnamon? The flavors are almost soapy on the sip. Generic floral? I couldn’t name any fruit in this mix. There is a little bit of rooibos woodsiness in there, but the strange flavor covers most of what I dislike in rooibos. Something in it is making my throat tingle, like the beginning of an itch that makes you cough. Not for me, but glad to have tried it.

drank Rose & Pomme by Fauchon

Advent Day 18

Excited to try a flavored tea today! When I think of rose and apple blends, Nina’s comes to mind as the perfect example of that. This tea is similar. The flavors are toned down, which isn’t a bad thing. The apple tastes the same as Nina’s, the rose is less prominent, hiding in the sip and appearing in the finish. There is something a little sour in the sip and something a little flat in the taste if I take too long between sips. It’s not a bad tea, but I’m not as fond of it as the comparison. I’d drink it again if I crossed paths with it in the future.

Advent Day 17

Not a fan of rooibos or hibiscus. If I took those two out and focused only on the pineapple strawberry in the front of the sip, it’s not bad. If the hibiscus had been toned down to the point that it rounded out the sour hint in fresh fruit then it wouldn’t be distracting, but it’s just over the edge into too much for me. There is also an alkaline flatness that comes in towards the back of the sip and lingers in the finish. Not into this one.

Advent Day 16

I was eating some food before I started sipping on this cup and it tasted kinda bad. I kept sipping to wash the taste of the food away, but it didn’t get any better. I added some cream and sugar and this tea blossomed into a really nice breakfast cup! Smooth with depth and a little malt. It’s delicious. I’m trying to drink this cup quickly before I head out the door, but it’s too hot for that. This is a tea I’d love to drink again. Almost a “put it on my wishlist” tea, but not quite. I’d need a few more cups to sway me to add it to my cupboard.

It’s Saturday morning! A fitting time to drink this tea! I had written in my first note that I thought this would be a fun tea to have cold steeped. I regret to report that I was wrong. It has a sour note on the sip and a dusty flat taste in the finish. I can kind of pick out what is trying to be fruit, but there is nothing else happening. I tried adding milk and that obliterates anything I might have noticed. I liked this tea and would have loved to enjoy a second cup. I guess this was a bad roll of the tea preparing dice.

drank Aiyu Citrus Jelly by Almost Tea

I’m liking this less this time. It was too hot, so I let it cool and came back to it when it was too cool. It’s citrusy with a flavor I can’t describe. Feeling pretty eh about this cup.

drank Sakura & Berry by Lupicia

I think I used too small of a cup because this ended up being a bit concentrated. It has a nice berry flavor to it with sakura in the back of the sip and in the finish. It’s ever so slightly crisp. I think I need to play with this more to get an optimal cup.

Advent Day 15

EG again. I’m less excited about it today than I was the first round. I’ll find something in my cupboard more exciting to follow it with.

Bio

My name is Dustin and I like tea.

I’m an added flavor kind of tea fan, but have had a growing appreciation for plain. I want my tea to remind me of cookies and cakes with coconut and almond slices with a hint of chocolate drizzled on top. I want dancing ponies and flying monkeys shooting off fireworks! And no hibiscus. Hibiscus is the devil.
